Rock Island and its associated brands have come a long way quality wise. The fit and finish has been quite impressive for what you pay. I am yet to buy a 1911 from them but all other guns have been just good values. I only wish they made a 9mm "double stack" 1911. Maybe they do and I just need to look? The 9mm 1911 is such a pleasure to shoot and perfect to train new shooters and as a self defense gun.
I find them on par with more expensive guns like Ruger, or S&W. They are better than some of the other overseas firearms made in Turkey. Although I do admit that Turkish gun makers have also stepped up their game in the quality department the past few years as well. I am sure some will disagree with me, usually out of "Out of the U.S. Made" biased. But I myself buy things for value, not bias....This is my personal opinion. You certainly are entitled to yours and I will respect that, I ask you do the same.

Firs (and only) time I shot one was when a friend of mine bought one about 10 years ago. It had feeding issues but they took care of it in less than a month. And smoothed the trigger while at it. After that it felt like a very nice pistol, and due to its weight a great gun to introduce new people to shooting. I have been told they were built on original American tooling.

The price? He paid for his about $300 a while ago.
