Description

This petition is for the retraction of the Executive Action, announced 08/29/2013, which would prohibit the re-importation of former U.S. military firearms for sale to U.S. citizens. The primary firearms that this would impact are the U.S. M1 Garand and Carbine rifles, prized by collectors, competitive sports shooters, and "plinkers" who are interested in U.S. military history. These are NOT the type of firearms that have been associated with crimes. This Executive Action will solve no firearms-related problems, is political grandstanding at its worst, and only serves to discriminate against legitimate firearms collectors.

Signed it and proud to. They already know that we have guns, so why not speak up?

I'm not afraid to sign the petition and will not hide. I've done nothing wrong and believe this is yet another assault on my 2nd amendment rights. Having to "register" to purchase a firearm pretty well puts me on any "radar" anyway. Damn right I signed it - and I'll contact my senator as well. Why is it that groups, such as homosexuals, aren't afraid to stand up while other groups cower and dig deeper holes?

To use the Obama regimes web site to host a petition to demand they allow the importation of US weapons is like giving the fox the keys to the chicken coop. For all you know this is a false flag attempt to collect more email addresses of gun owners or enthusiasts. Does anyone really trust the Regime ? They can manipulate the numbers, and falsly report the counts.
There are many petition hosting sites independent of the White House--I suggest those be used for petitiona--not Obamas's White House.

Do you really think a petition means jack #$it to the communists/Marxists pushing these executive orders?? Do you really think public opinion means a damn thing to these people???? If you think a petition is going to change anything, you're a fool. Our legislative process has been hijacked, and you're wasting your time if you think you're going to change anything in our country through the legislative process.

Let me agree with you on all points, but with one correction...

Public opinion means EVERYTHING to these people.
Its the Constitution and Rule of Law that don't mean a damn thing.

Everything they do, every lie they perpetuate, every child they exploit, its ALL for the purpose of shaping public opinion.

I consider this a slap in the face to all the brave men who fought in World War II and The Korean War. Signed and passed along in every way I know how.

I agree. I'm not signing anything where I have to give an identity. I think voting should be anonymous every time i vote multiple times. I can't believe the White House would force us to register! They're limiting the vote! (In my best sarcastic tone)

If you do not believe strongly enough to sign your name to something then you should not be signing that petition any way! Let the government know you are willing to put your "John Hancock" on something you truly believe in. They will realize that the next election you will also exercise your right to vote also!

This is not through gun.deals. This is through the white house petitions web site. If you don't have a petitions account you have to create one.

Don't worry, the NSA already has all of us on a list. One more wont hurt.

Needed for what? We already have a President who selectively enforces or doesn't enforce laws and who shows his contempt for the constitution almost daily. Do you really think that if 70 million gun owners signed this petition, it would make the slightest bit of difference? The fact that 68% of Americans want to dump Obamacare hasn't seemed to matter. He is pressing on regardless. So let's look at something he really hates- the potential of honest gun owners to defend themselves against what is clearly becoming a tyrannical government. If he can't force us to get rid of our guns legislatively, he will keep trying to do it by hemming us in with these ridiculous marginal executive orders.

51% voted for ObamaCare in the last election--Are you so sure 68% want to dump ObamaCare? How many people want to dump Medicare? Is this not a government
ran Health Insurance Program?

Numurous people also supposedly "voted" for obama in the last election. So i wouldnt put to much stock in things people "voted" for. Especially when obama won 110% of the district in cleveland ohio... hmmmmm.......

Exactly. The only people voting against it are those that already have it, and selfish money grubbing employers who don't want to pay to provide it, yet you don't see them calling for the axe on medicare or social security. While I don't really believe anything this president does is honest or for the good of the people, I am not opposed in any way to affordable healthcare. What we have going on now is a straight up racquet.

You honestly want the government involved in your healthcare? Also the fact that you cant choose to keep your own healthcare is rediculous, and the fact that all the politicians exempted themselves from it should raise a red flag.

No, not really.. but something needs to be done. The cost of healthcare is outta control. I'd rather healthcare be responsible and charge an honest fee for honest coverage. I have a friend who has to come up with 5k for the endoscopy he needs. Putting someone under so they can shove a camera down your throat shouldn't set a man back 5k. As it stands, health care is a damn scam, and the care we receive isn't that great in the first place.

I can understand not wanting the government involved in anyone's healthcare, although they already are for anyone covered by medicare or Medicaid. However, the reason your elected Senators and Representatives exempted themselves is they already have far better health insurance (paid for by you and me) than any of us will ever be able to afford. (apologies for contributing to this hijacking of a thread, which should be about the executive order banning reimportation surplus firearms, thereby effectively killing the Civilian Marksmanship Program.). Everyone should sign the petition, regardless of their opinion of government mandated healthcare insurance and all of its myriad ramifications. They should also write their congressman and senators, and make this a hot public issue; otherwise Obama just slips another anti-gun measure, based on sheer whimsy, and doesn't have to answer for it.
