I must add that it is a pain in the azz to break down for cleaning ..

I have one that has been absolutely flawless and the most accurate 9mm I own..

I get you want something reliable for self defense, but online everyone acts like they’re SEALs confronting bad guys everyday. Most of you will NEVER use it. Which is a good thing.

People who buy Hellcats aren't NASCAR drivers either, but the still want the fucking car to start. smh

True, but why even consider having a self defense pistol unless it is actually reliable? A junky self defense pistol seems a huge gamble to take on your life literally. And yes, most $200 and under pistols are junky.

Are these really that bad or is this the band wagon effect the internets notorious for? I am talking about 2nd gen not first.

I had one. It's worth 200. Not worth 400+ but for a cheap plinker, I'd buy another.

Something about this look just screams YUCK to me but for $200. I guess it’s ok for burning it out plinking, but wouldn’t trust my life on it, or buy it with the added shipping charge.

$200 may not sound like much to some, but I'm pretty certain I can find a different pistol that I can shoot for 50 years and hand down to a descendant. With this one, at some point it *will* become unsafe as the steel locking block eats away at the aluminum shelf it locks against. So, ultimately a disposable firearm. Not what *I* look for in a purchase...

I had completely forgotten about that flaw and was about to order one just for the novelty look of it. I'm glad I read this comment, because I'd like something I buy today, to be around in 50 years.

Why not go with a Taurus G2C instead for even less? I’m just saying... Proven to be pretty reliable... Not the cream of the crop, but it’s definitely not the worst.

I have one of each and I highly concur. The Rem "fits" my hand really well but that safety is something I have as yet been unable to master. I use it as a plinker but would trust the Taurus much more for self defense.

Mine failed to feed right out of the box. Remington fixed it. Not sure I would carry it for SD.

Honestly, you might be better off showing up for a gun fight with a knife.

Looks really cool but too bad it's been a piece of junk.

Very accurate with the fixed barrel and single action hammer fired action. Trigger has very little take up. Field stripping takes a little practice. Good feel in the hand with a very low center of gravity.

I keep going back and fourth between it and Taurus G2. I know kinda apples and oranges. But similar cost and general size.

I have both and would go with the g2c with this trigger upgrade https://www.keeptinkering.com/product-page/pseudo-backstrap-sao-short-stroke-trigger-for-taurus-pt111-140-g2-g2c-g2s... . You loose the DA but if youve shot any other striker fired pistol ( Glock ) then you should be fine. The DA trigger pull was way to long and caused alot of muzzle movement because of the strength needed to pull it. This trigger turned the G2C from paper weight to one of my most accurate shooting handguns. I couldn't recommend it more. They have other triggers too that don't loose the DA but I have bigger hands and need the furthest extension which gives the shortest pull.

Mine has been flawless, for this price I have to buy another. Since it’s re-release it’s the most underrated pistol out there!

If the price went below $100 AND Remington gave a $50 rebate, I'd buy it!

Guess I got lucky , mine has had no malfunctions so far but definitely a pain to disassemble

Not really a question of wether it works or not...you have to look at it every time you take it to the range. That's bad enough

Americans aren't buying fewer guns, quite the opposite. Remington just sucks lately.

Read the Review on RK - apparently the rumors of it's resurrection are just that and it is still a POS!

When Remington sell guns less expensive than a Hi-Point - you know how deep in the shit they are...

I bought one last year, the new Gen 2, kept it for two weeks and sold it to a gun dealer. I think he still has it. It had light strikes and then it would take 4 to 5 tries to get the slide to rack to remove the round. Its a shame as I really wanted to like the gun but it just wasn't meant to be. Maybe Big Green will have better luck with the new RP9 however I definitely won't be one of their unpaid testers.

Good deal on a mediocre gun...many of us have read the reviews, especially the video reviews on YouTube, and know how finicky this gun is with ammo (TFB.TV refers to them as "nose-dives")...even so, this is a great price and Remington also has a $35 mail-in rebate on it.

From what I’ve read, the gen 2 still has a climb ahead of it to even reach mediocre status. Who wants to take a chance and become part of Remington’s (unpaid) public test & eval team? Maybe improved from gen 1, but from most reports, still a good-looking but technically incompetent gun…kind of like a Hollywood actor. So it’s best prospects are probably as futuristic movie props.
