A Truly Compact, Fast Handling Personal Defense Shotgun

With its 14" barrel and compact 26.4" overall length, the Remington 870 TAC-14 is extremely maneuverable and delivers plenty of 12 gauge stopping power. Built on the proven, all-steel 870 receiver, the little TAC-14 is handy in tight places, especially where there isn’t enough room to effectively use a full-sized shotgun. It’s even compact enough to make a dandy truck gun.

The 870 TAC-14 sports a "bird’s head" Shockwave Raptor pistol grip that helps take the bounce out of recoil, ensuring you have excellent control of the gun, shot after shot. Rounding out the TAC-14 is a Magpul® MOE® forend with M-LOK accessory-mounting points, plus extended front and rear handstops that further enhance your control of the TAC-14.

- NO NFA registration or tax stamp required!
- Chambered for 2-3/4" and 3" shotshells and slugs
- Fixed choke
- Durable reinforced polymer stock
- Bead front sight

The Remington 870 TAC-14 is not classified as a “shotgun,” “short barrel shotgun,” or “any other weapon” under the NFA, so it is not subject to federal Class 3/NFA firearms restrictions and is simply classified as a “pump-action firearm.” This is because its overall length is greater than 26", and it is not capable of being shouldered, meaning the TAC-14 can be purchased without an ATF NFA registration or tax stamp. State and local restrictions may still apply.

Lol the defensive shotgun course comment. If you live in a little apartment in a big city this is a pretty good option. Don’t need a lot of range/ keep it anywhere/ about as much firepower as you could ever need/ scary as it gets

Was pricing out these plus a brace/pistol grip adapter plus brace, chamber adapter to shoot minishells, +1 tube....and it comes out right around $550. For that money I guess I’ll just get a KSG and call it good.

I'm not going to buy one of these until they come out with an Expensive Commando Tactical Combat model- preferably cerakoted dollar bill signs blended with tiger stripes. I also want rails- so I can install optics, a flashlight, laser rangefinder, and Swiss Army knife to be a totally BAMF. Seriously, to each his/her own- but I prefer my shotguns shoulder fired. Pass......

Try shooting a round, and you might surprise yourself; it's not as difficult as it would seem.

Just don't let the clays get very far out... the cylinder bore throws a relatively HUGE pattern.

Where is the $50 gift card that is advertised with this deal. Why make it complicated to order from your company. The chat people are super nice, but are no help. They said this deal did not exist, and that they do not honor slickguns.com notifications. Right after that, I plug in one of the promo codes and guess what?. The deal does work after all, but no $50 gift card that is advertised. And what is that $10 handling fee? Never have had to pay that.

Get the Mossberg with the mini shells. You can find adapter for it and load 8 shells in it. Or not what ever i dont care what yall think.

Fact

So you wouldn't be worried if someone had one pointed at you since they are useless and serve no purpose?

A blunderbuss filled with limp macaroni is also useless however I would still be worried about someone pointing it at me.

BTW, you really need to work on your counterargument skills.

Ok, going by the "it's useless" comments posted on here, one could make the same argument about any handgun compared to a short barrel shotgun for home defense. The reasoning is because a shouldered shotgun stance is only a few inches longer than a proper pistol shooting stance. So would you seriously argue that a handgun is useless in the home? What you deem useless, may not be to someone else, each to their own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_APnhoIYeD0...

Now I do not agree this is completely "useless" but it is about the worst self-defense 12ga option out there. You are trading utility for coolness. If you are really worried about having short shotgun then get a overfolding stock. I measured my Mossberg 500 with a 18.5” barrel in the folded position and it was only 2” longer than the Mossberg 500 14” "bird’s head." With that two inches you get higher capacity, a pistol grip, and the option for shoulder firing.

Someone got awful triggered over this lol!
I mean that for the money you spend there are a ton better options out there. I've not shot one but I'd bet with 3" 00 this thing is really hard to hold onto and not fun. My useless comment is simply that this is a gimmick and a range toy. It's far from ideal for self defense or home defense.

You can also load your own shells, or go for low recoil buck. Options. There is a lot.

I could buy two of these for what my Kel-Tec KSG cost and still not have the same capacity or shoot-ability of a shoulder fired shotgun, but they're about the same overall length! Sign me up for two. Lol.

These make great hosts if you want to do a form 1 to build an short barrel shotgun. Otherwise, limited use.

Great replies.

Please take this to a defensive shotgun class and see what the instructor has to say. Lol

Taurus judge all over again.

Each to their own, but I actually have a Taurus judge. Shooting 5 shots at 7 yds with Noble Sport, 2.5 inch, 3 ball .40 buck, all 15 balls will be in an 8 inch circle. I don't carry this gun on me because of it's size, I think it is more of a vehicle gun, but 3 .40 cal wound channels every time you shoot works for me.

I use my judge for snakes. #4 shot and I can keep it on my belt instead of lugging a shotgun around.. Perfect solution. Also with 45long colt Hornady ammo that thing is a cannon and every round hits 8in group at 15yds. Good gun haters.

At this price who cares, buy this and your Mossberg. Have fun looking like an ass hip firing short range @ water melons (yellow rain jacket and hat recommended).
Then you have two defense shot guns. One of which has a thinner profile when under 30 inches to hide under night stand/ table lip. Plus a big stupid smile

First off this is a GREAT PRICE after rebate....BUT I do not see the point. This 4+1 'gun' is 26.4" overall length according to the ad. I just measured my 6+1 Mossberg 500 with a 18.5" barrel which I installed a overfolding postal grip stock that is exactly 28" overall length when folded. By adding a mere 1.6" you get an extra 2 shells, an extra 5 round shell carrier, AND you can quickly deploy the stock to have a full fledged shotgun at a moment's notice. I was about to order this Remington however I am glad I measured what I already have.

From what I've seen the recoil is much more tolerable with the bird's head grip. I'm not sure about the Remington model, but the Mossberg Shockwave has an aftermarket rubber plug that allows it to use mini shot shells.

Shoot the 3 inch 00 BUCK SHOT fast as you can, and then come back and revise your comment.

been there done that, put a standard pistol grip on my nfa 870 1X and it was much harder to control then with a birds head style grip, got rid of the magpul forend too...

Hope the ATF isn't listening ;)

You are probably right that would be the case when hip firing as your hand isn't behind the grip, absorbing 100 percent of the recoil but above it guiding the recoil. I personally do not think it's worth an inch and a half of overall length to give up the ability to shoulder the gun though. Hip firing is great if something is 5 feet in front of you but any further you risk missing the target entirely.
