This is the best by far 1911 in this price range. They were $1250 MSRP, when they came out, "too rich for my taste", I buy a lot of guns, so when they started dropping 950, 750, then a flash sale at 550 with 100 dollar MIR, I ended up getting it for 456.00, 1/3 of what it was when it came out. Now I also had a stock R1 about 10 yrs ago, when they came out.
That was a fine shooter, but this baby is as good as any 1000 dollar Colt or Springer I have ever had, and I am in my 60's and have carried since 1972, so you could say I have seen a few 1911's. Keep your eye on this one for the next flash sale, it sold out in 10 minutes.
Having had many high end guns this one can run with the best of them, if you sink a few hundred into having it fine tuned, it will suprise you.

These are good pistols. Kinda makes me wonder if the Para Ordnance people they brought in after the buyout have upped Remington's 1911 game.

Hmm I'm debating picking this one up as well. The only thing that sucks with CDNN is adding the tax and shipping always hurts... Sometimes living in TX sucks;)

Man great price on great gun. I have the carry commander which is 4.25 version of this with CT grips and also came with pair of rosewood. I paid $900 all in this was 2 years ago. The action in this feels like butter. It's so smooth and the quality is 10x better than my shitty kimber which was my first 45 (10 years ago). In fact the trigger and accuracy are better than my Sig scorpion. These are the best kept secret value "45" out there. There is not a better 45 at this price anywhere. This is a classic I will be handing own to my son.

I agree with the previous posters that those "bonus" grips are throw-aways but the pistol at this price is a HOME RUN!!

Remington has done an amazing job with this pistol. I think its the flagship of their firearms right now. At this price, its an absolute steal. I own this gun and its a very beautifully finished piece. this is a definitive buy buy buy if you want a 1911.

I will take the Commander at this price. I sent an Email, but didn't recieve a yes or no. And guys, those grips are so ugly, they can't give them away. "no offense" everyone is trying to".

I'm just going to say that those grips don't add any value whatsoever to this pistol.
