FYI Whitaker should have smith and Wesson back in stock soon for $549. I picked one up about a week ago. Great stock AR with decent sites(magpul rear)... That and Ruger 556 are my favorite lower cost A2 versions. If your gonna keep them stock these are great options.

I just got done at range with this version (see my other posts below). This is a beast!! I was able to group .5 inch easily at 50 yards. At 100 I was averaging 1.5 ish which is great in my opinion. I shoot about 150 rounds. I had one light primer strike with the brass shells. That was the only cycling/ammo issue. I also had the bolt stick open with the 30 round mag (one time when doing ammo dump) but was related to mag lips. I didn't have any issues with the 20 round mag it came from what so ever. Both are ASC mags which the Radicsl support team told me work best when I asked. Once I bent the lips on 30 round mag down/in just a hair did not have any more issues. I am still super surprised as all the steel shells I ran were flawless... I was planning on running cheaper brass but not now. To be honest I was able to shoot tighter groupings with the steel as well. Both the monarch polymore and red army lacquer ran awesome. I brought my only other "mil spec" AR which is a Windham (mentioned below in previous post) and to the trigger on the Radical was hands down better. Lighter pull, shorter, and much smoother. I was not sure yesterday when had it out but I was shooting two other AR's with Giselle SSA trigger's. So that through my original feedback on the trigger off a bit. But comparing to another mil spec trigger today there was no doubt the Radical was much better. I hadn't shot an AR recently without a drop in trigger for a couple months so kinda forgot how much difference there is between a highend drop in trigger vs mil spec.... After spending more time with the Radical AR I really started appreciating its stock trigger more. I credit part of then accuracy I'm having with this AR in part to the decent pull. I was a little freaked about about buying this but I am super excited now. This Is defiantly my favorite new AR. I went through all my ammo today I enjoyed myself so much. Now I am comfortable adding the additional components I purchased to this AR and have a lot of confidence in the rifle. I didn't want to change out new handguard, trigger guard, and other items if I hadbto send back because of reliability issues. Which is what I was thinking would happen because of all the mixed reviews I read about AR's in this caliber. I am glad I bought the complete rifle as it sounds like they are more hit or miss when just buying the upper (in this 7.62x39).

BUT I don't think I would buy this rifle in 556. There are so many great options out there for around the same price or a bit more. I am confident this gun will be reliable and accurate after spending a couple day with it trying to beat it up. The difference you will see is more cosmetic between this manufacture compared to some of other 556 options out there. At least if their 556 version is similar to this one. After really going through this rifle with a fine tooth comb there are some minor cosmetic items I don't have on any of my other AR's. If your not convcerned with cosmetics' then picking is up in 556 for $499 might be a very strong option. I opted for spending more money on all my 223/556/300blkout AR's as I do like a higher quality finish but there is not a lot of options in this caliber. Especially at this price point. I was also planning on this being more of a beater, so I don't have to worry about using and abusing. Similar to how AK's are used;). I am fairly confident you will not find a better AR in 7.62x39 for sub $700 which is over $150 more then I paid. Indigent want to spend $1400 on a Mutant (Cmmg) or $900 on a PSA.

Regarding their (Radical) support I actually emailed them before the rifle arrived this week as I read reviews stating the firing pin and extractor spring may need to be upgraded to ensure reliability. Especially with steel
Ammo. They responded promptly the same day. We actually went back and forth a few times and I was fairly impresses with their support. Especially at their price points. Granted I did not need any work done on the rifle just feedback. Don't get me wrong they are not going to have comparable support to a company like Head Down Firearms but they don't seem to bad. Head Down has overnighted one of my AR's both ways and done all kinds of crazy support when servicing one of their AR's but their AR's start at $1,500 so almost 3 times the cost.... Anyways hopefully his helps everyone. All in all I'm super excited about this purchase and I have not had a sore shoulder from shooting an AR in a long time;). I would not bet my
life on this running flawlessly for a thousand rounds with not one issue but at it's price point, non standard caliber, and cheap steel ammo it exceeded my expectations so far... With how its ran so far I really don't foresee any issues in the near future but will keep ya posted. I'm going to run it in a CQB completion next weekend so that will be the true test. Especially with the rapid fire, mag changes, dirt, and heat... Adding a Geissele handguard, butt stock, and a few other components this afternoon so if you want to see a pic shot me a private message. I was gong to upgrade the trigger as well but to be honest I really dont think it needs it and actually got pretty good with the mil spec version today. I will use the money to upgrade the trigger on my Windham instead... Apologies for be long winded feedback but I'm super excited about this find and hope others try it out. I couldn't find many reviews on this exact model so wanted to provide some good feedback. On a side note if you find the 556 version of this AR on slick guns I did post a link for a really good 5k round multi video review. They had a similar experience to me. Very positive but thru were much harder on it...

Oh and one last item. The support guy I spoke to from Radical said he runs this(see link below) on his personal rifle which is the same version I have. I may add it but the one light primer strike I mentioned above looked to be more ammo related as the primer looked to have a good strike. But since I'm going to run steel ammo through it now I may add it for $12 bucks but don't think I really need it. Having so much fun with this new AR setup that I'm taking it out for a 3rd day in a row Sunday and stopped by academy to pick up a 500 more rounds of Red Army. So I will end up running another 300 rounds through it before weekends over which will put me well over 500 this week. More then I've ran anyone of my AR's in a long time:). Knock on wood as I will probably have some sort of issue now that I said this;)

**Update17th Sunday* 300 rounds no issues 1.5 inch groups consistently shooting red army steel with strikefire 2 red dot. One barrel started heating up accuracy went down but this thing rocks. But one..

Don't bother messing with there customer service. They say they have a warranty but they won't honnor it. I ordered a 300 blk upper and it came in to me new all messed up. 3 weeks later after trying to get them to fix it they just stopped answering my emails. I sent it back to cheaper than dirt and got most of my money back. I have talked to others with the same experience. There customer service is a joke. Glad it worked out for you. But you are taking a risk with this company. There is other budget companies out there that actually have customer service if something goes wrong.

Just looking for input on shopping this week, Im considering the radical arms 12" 556 for 499 from centerfire, vs other options in that price range (the s&w at buds for 600$ with prof discount), armalite with (MFT 590$ centerfire). Any quick input from you folks who have held the radical firearms products vs the others in this price range. Some of the prices in the last week are fluctuating widely, as you all know. Just checking again to see if anyone cares to give a quick opinion for one shopping for an ar with not as much firsthand knowledge of the products.

Taking it out agin this morning so will see what kind of groupings I can get consistently. Sony have surplus ammo but will try and run both brass and steel. Picked up some more monarch and red army. Lacquer and polymore... Also noticed after cleaning the fit is still snug but the upper/lower groove to the left of the bolt catch do not line up exactly. This seems be more cosmetic at this point but none of my other matching AR's have this. Granted they are all cost a lot more... But kinda annoying. The closest price wise I have to compare is a Windham Weaponry Dimondhead version (300 blkout) and when you really compare the two the quality of Windham is better at least cosmetically....

Run a case of surplus through it and get back to us. Also what kind of groups are you getting?

Hey guys I just got back from the range and I am super excited about this AR. It freaking rocks!!! I put 3 boxes of fiochhi brass through it. They ran perfect in both 20 and 30 round ASC mags. I will probably use that moving forward at a cost of $.43 per round. I also picked up a box of red army and a box of monarch steel shells from academy. They both ran flawless as well. I dropped a vortex strikefire 2 on it with a magnifier. Fairly accurate. I was surprised as it held its own against my $1,000 plus AR's. Of course over 100 yards the groupings went a bit downhill but the fun factor made up for that. The only grip is the stock was a bit loose but I already replaced that with a exos defense ti-7 that I got from Tactical intent for $30!!! I also picked up a Geissele 13 inch hand grip last week during their blem sale for $115. Basically I have a badass AR for Under $675!! The only other item I will change is the trigger. The current trigger is ok but I should be getting the trigger I ordered from the blem sale. I was going to use it with another AR but I think it will be much more fun with this caliber. This thing is going to be a beast!! I will take it out tomorrow for one last serious test before I start adding everything. The last thin I want to do install everything then have to send it back for warrenty work. Thus I want to make sure this puppy is running perfect.

Well we shall see. Just ordered some golden bear ammo (brass). Gonna start with that to see how it does then maybe try the silver bear. I don't plan on shooting anything corrosive or steel right off the bat... .35-.40 per round for quality brass is not bad. Especially compared to shooting 300 blackout subs suppressed... I may see how some of the decent cheaper stuff runs but don't plan on blasting 400 or 500 rounds per day so not that concerned with ammo costs. At least right now... I'm just excited for something different right now..

Is there a lifetime warranty? You know for when the bolt breaks...

Thanks for feedback all. I am super excited but a bit nervous because of those issues. My gunsmith did say just buying the upper adds a few more unknowns to the mix which can add to possible reliability issues. To be honest I had a bit of buyers remorse and almost told Classic to ship the 556 instead but I already have 3 other 556 AR's decked out so glad I stuck with something different. I saw the primary $499 on 556 version as well and if I didn't live in TX probably would have picked it up as well. I've heard nothing but great things about that version and for $499 you can't go wrong. That will always be worth $500 especially with all the gun control stuff going on..

I don't own this rifle, however I did build one in 7.62x39. And yes they are a hoot. Fast becoming one of my favorite rifles. I actually am hunting deer this year with mine too. I have it set up with a 5 round mag and a nice compact variable scope. It's lightweight and with some good hunting ammunition it'll be ready to down a blacktail up to 350 yards or so, which in Oregon around here is about the max length shot you'd ever have.

I wanna get one too. I like Ak 7.62 but I can't find decent one at this price range. Primary Arm sells 5.56 for $500 + shipping ($10) plus tax in TX. Question is that this one is about $50 more than 5.56. I have to pay $540+$ 20 shipping if I want one now. Well they are different vendors...but what do they make that much difference?

Hahahah. I did the samething on July first but it has not shipped yet because of them being about 10 business days behind. That's given me a lot of time to actually research. There is a lot of info on the uppers only but very little on complete rifles. There is an awesome review for the 556 version where they did updates ever thousand rounds. They also beat the crap out of it and the rifle did really really well. I posted it under the posting for the 556 version. It sounds like the major challenge maybe with the mags... I bout a coupe different types to try out. I also bought a exos defense ti-7 stock from tactical intent for $30 shipped and a Geissele mk2 rail. My gun smith also ordered an extraction spring and a wolf firing pin for cheap ammo... May not need them but for $12 I figure why not. He also said these are a blast to shoot and it will become my favorite AR hands down so I'm pretty excited. I should have it before the weekend and am going to run it bone stock before I start changing anything. On a side note it sounds like the owners are decent to work with but very backed up. They are based here in TX and actually responded to an email saying the AR running stock should shoot pretty much anything I throw at it so we shall see. If I like this I will probably pick up the 556 version from primary. Hey also have a pretty awesome 308 version on there site I am very curious about....

I'm not an AK fan and have a number of AR's in 300 blk out and 556 so have been looking for something different. Originally I was leaning towards the CMMG mutant but $1300 seems a little high. I do one the ability to use AK mags and the BCG is rock solid but when I saw this for roughly $550 I thought what the hell... We will see;).

Anybody have one of these? I just bought one (impulse buy) and now I figure I should check and see how they run.

Let us know how it works. I had two of their 7.62x39 uppers and had problems, like a lot of others. Not everyone had problems, but to many. I was told by their gunsmith that this upper was made to work with brass case ammo. I can find the link to the discussion if you like. Now, if in writing you where told it will run any thing I would buy one. They make first class uppers, and I believe they come with a life time guarantee. I look forward to seeing how yours works.
