One other thing, the description says nothing about the cam pin, firing pin, extractor, ejector, whether or not it has the ejector o ring, if it is batch tested, shot peened, mpi.....?? What the fuck? Who buys into this garbage and is honestly convinced that this isn’t marketing?

9310 is “harder” than 158 but not stronger. There is a diffirence between the two. Carpenter 158 is surface hardened. 9310 is thru hardened. What this means is that the surface of 158 is hard to resist deformation, but the underlying metal is softer and has more “give” thus helping to prevent lugs from shearing completely off. The problem with 9310 is in the thru hardening creating a hard, but brittle and unforgiving bolt. You don’t believe me talk to the guys that run full auto range rentals. The 158 bolts last longer. You want to pay more for less and feel empowered by your ultra lightweight wallet. Go for it. Just giving some advice on a topic I was educated about from people who aren’t trying to sell me something. Toodles.

C158 is just a proprietary steel Carpenter came out with in the 1960's. 9310 is used for high speed high temperature gears and it's easier for companies to get.
As for range rentals everyone has an opinion. C158 is milspec for full auto. 8620 was actually used first in the M16 but testing showed bolts made with it only lasted 50-60k rounds. Most people buy for precision applications which would not make C158 better.
And S7 that Sharp's uses isn't milspec either, and that's a good thing.

The Sharps BCG is supperior to this. It’s not trolling. This bcg technically isn’t mil spec seeing as how the bolt isn’t 158 Carpenter or better. Argue if you will. You can get the same or better for cheaper from AIM. I’m a machinist and can tell you this is marketing. All bolts are cut with CNCs. Nothing they did to their bcg is relative to a supperior product.

You do know the difference between the bolt and bolt carrier right?
Regardless, Sharps makes an excellent BCG too.
Sharp's uses S7 tool steel, not exactly sure how that compares to 9310 I'd have to look it up. Both are better than C158.

It's better than minimum Mil Spec Carpenter 158.
9310 bolts are a better grade of steel for the bolt.
Better materials have come out since C158.
I'm not claiming to be a "machinist" but you might want to brush up on your steel.

So nitrided; cheap steel in the bolt and key but 30$-40$ more than MIL metal and no NDT proofing . I think we've reached the point where anyone with a Bridgeport and lathe can cut AR parts and call it good for the average Joe who sportingly puts a few hundred rounds downrange. Quite depressing. Fire away.

I think we've reached the point where people will troll anywhere.
Radian makes quality products.
Call them up.
The Radian bolt carrier is manufactured from case hardened 8620 steel with properly staked 4130 steel gas key. The accompanying bolt is case hardened 9310 steel, shot peened, HPT and MPI tested, and finished in a self-lubricating polished black nitride. Bolt lugs are CNC ground following heat treatment to insure the greatest accuracy possible.

Externally looks like the same OE as the Alpha Premium.

Also like the Sharps, without the final cut outs, or the fancy metallurgy.
