FEATURES
The PSA GF5 AK-47 was designed from the ground up to create a new standard in AK-47 rifles, utilizing all new enhanced precision manufactured parts. Thoroughly tested in development, we tortured tested to 10,000 rounds to ensure a quality product. Not to be satisfied with just a good AK-47, we kept improving and now are proud to announce our PSAK-47 Gen5 Hammer Forged (GF5) rifle with a hammer-forged barrel, bolt, carrier, and front trunnion.
The barrel is a proprietary blend of hammer-forged chrome-moly vanadium made by FN that is referred to as "Machine Gun Steel" by virtue of its use in FN's M249 and M240 weapons. The hammer forging process work hardens the steel, making it more durable. This 16" barrel is magnetic particle inspected, to ensure quality and dependability and is pressed into a hammer forged 4340 AQ front trunnion to ensure the longevity AK-47's are known for. The hardened steel 1mm receiver features an ALG AKT Enhanced Trigger with Lightning Bow, and side rail mount. The front trunnion and bolt carrier are engraved with GF5 to designate the new GF5 hammer-forged model. The rifle is finished with a classic polymer handguard, stock, and grip. This rifle ships with 30 round magazine (where allowed by law).
Rifles must be shipped to a valid, current Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). Please have the shipping address of your preferred FFL before placing your order. You will need the FFL information to complete the order. It is the purchaser's responsibility to be aware of the laws in their state regarding high capacity sporting rifles.

Sounds like they are upping their game piece by piece, which is great to hear. That said, I wonder how many rounds you can put through this before the rivets are walking out of the receiver, or they have a catastrophic failure. They say they stress test to 10k rounds, but there are AK's out there that have pushed well past 50k rounds and kept going, and I saw an article on the firearm blog once about a gun range that had 80-100k rounds through some of their AKs (WASR10 rifles iirc). I want to like the PSA AKs so badly, especially knowing that they are trying so hard, but when you can get a proven reliable one elsewhere for about the same price, why would you want one of these?

The fit and finish seem perfect to me and I doubt most of us will put even 10K rounds through these things let alone 50K between the GF3 pistol and GF3 full size I haven't had one issue

Which one do you think is better, this one "gf5" or the 103 they make? Both are about the same price. I like the brake on the 103 but besides that I'm not sure what the difference is.

This comes with a Alg trigger one of the best for aks and a 45 degree gas block . The 103 comes with a basic trigger and a 90 degree gas block and can come with a folding rear trunion

Same here I’m not sure what the difference is

Forged trunnions
Forged Bolt
Forged Bolt Carrier, ALG Lightning Bow Trigger. I love mine

Why do they advertise these as "forged" when they clearly have stamped receivers?

All AKMs, if built properly, have some forged parts like barrel, bolt, bolt carrier, and trunnions. Bragging about this is a low bar. It's like saying "made with real parts!".

I think they are referring to the trunions which you want forged rather than cast. Not all stamped AKs have forged trunions

Any properly built AK has forged trunnions. Only bottom of the barrel, budget crap has anything less.

Well, non forged trunnions were kinda the norm for US made AK's in the past. Thats where all these US made AK's got a bad name from. Also, these are things people typically want to know about a rifle. You really complaining about the transparency of a firearm description?

Yeah, Vrock is kinda splitting hairs up there. A lot of USA AK’s are shit with cast parts in high stress areas. Dissing one of the few decent one isn’t smart with providing an alternative.

PSA does make really good AK's. They have been know for their barrels, which they make for FNH. I would choose this over anything that century arms puts out. Just google palmetto ak47s . I would snag it, if it was a couple hundred less, but I am frugal/cheap ;)

FN makes barrels for PSA, not the other way around

Yes they are good rifles.

No, they make and sell rifles and pistols. I don't think they deal in platforms. Looking for a dock or something are you?
