PSAK-47 GB2 Liberty Classic Polymer Rifle
The PSAK-47 was designed from the ground up to be a new standard in AK rifles, utilizing all new precision manufactured parts.  We took the best of all the different models to create an American AK.  Thoroughly tested in development, we tortured tested to 10,000 rounds to ensure a quality product.  Not to be satisfied with just a good AK, we kept improving and now are proud to announce our PSAK-47 GB2 Liberty rifle with a billet steel barrel block (front trunion) and bolt, with a hammer forged carrier.
The 4150 barrel is nitride treated for accuracy and durability, and is pressed into a new Billet steel machined barrel block to ensure the longevity AKs are known for.  The hardened steel 1mm receiver features a mil-spec style double hook trigger, and side rail mount.  The front trunion is engraved with a star to designate the GB2 (Billet Block) model.  The classic polymer furniture includes a compartment in the buttstock and sling loop, and the rifle comes complete with a cleaning rod and 30 round Magpul magazine (where allowed by law).

I have been shooting my PSA Ak for over a year now..About 3000 rounds. No problems at all.

I still think the WASR is better and yes my arsenal.. But for $499 this is worth the money.

I'm seeing some good reviews on the new Riley Defense rifles. Will be watching the web on this one. They're customer service is top notch. May pull the trigger on one in the future. Classic has the black polymer version for 529, these sell out fast when they come in.

Out of all of my AKs russian, hungarian, chinese ect... and this may be a freak thing with the one I got but this AK edges the others out in accuracy. I don't know about dependability but the accuracy was a big surprise.
Are you guys seeing the same results with your PSAKs with accuracy?
I stayed away from this gun until they had the metallurgy issues sorted out but with this latest version it looks like we may finally have an american AK that's good quality at a price point that is competitive with foreign production.
Compared specifically to my WASRs and I know that they aren't dirt cheap anymore and I'm not ready to say its going to be as reliable but it blows them away in accuracy especially for the price.

the accuracy is because they're using a U.S. nitride barrel. Even people like Rob Ski have admitted that the U.S. barrels are more accurate than Combloc barrels (even though they don't have the longevity)

I've never heard of anyone shooting out a nitrided barrel on an AK. Chrome-lined is definitely stronger. But it's not nearly is as big of a deal as in an AR with 1,000fps higher velocities.

Robski shot out the nitride barrel on the C39v2 he had in just over 5,000 rounds....the barrel was eaten alive on the inside

I wonder if I can expect a similar lifespan to my non-chrome lined PAP rifles? The Yugos are also the only AKs still in the same price range that I'm seeing these days.

I bought one of these two weeks ago. Runs great, feels great.

Forged carrier, billet trunions, Nitrided barrel, all that jazz.

Love the thing to death and I'm not ashamed to say I've kept it by my bedside not for home defense but just because it's like man's best friend to me.

These are much better than a Ras-47 but not quite as good as a WASR.

Maybe I’d buy if it was in the 300s. Seems like there always 499. Not really a clearance price

Do not buy any American made ak...

Riiiiiiight because of a few bad companies? AK is no miracle to make you keep paying 7-1500 for an import that costs them 150 to make and import.

Before buying, check out youtube about bolt carriers popping up off rails, canted sights, mags sticking and the milled c39v2 bolt and rail problems. Look at videos C39V2 AK by Military Arms Channel and Rob Ski
Ak Operators Union. I was going to buy, but luckily i checked out videos and reviews. Too many issues, even at this price!

This is not a CIA AK if you didn't know PSA bought DDI and will be our goto for AK rifles at some point. Your posting garbage reviews that have nothing to do with this firearm.

If so many issues why no thumbs down.

It was a 5,000 round test. And Rob Ski himself said he would no longer recommend this gun based on the outright lies the company has vested heavily in. His was probably cherry picked. I got one of the Zhukov blemished models. Piece of shit won't even go into battery all the way unless you slam it. The bolt and carrier are both deforming significantly. And the piston head has deep scrapes from the gas tube. Get the Wasr.

70 year old technology and they F' it up.
Did they think they could pull a fast one on the AK community and make it on the cheap?
Hubris.

My psak was a lemon. After the third trip back to the factory, I requested and received a refund. Took the money and bought a wasr.

I own one and it has worked great. However I would not say it is of the same quality as a WASR. The WASR has become a great standard to judge a basic AK.

1. Arsenal
2. Wasr
3. Quality Kit guns
4. Palmetto.

Don't but any other American made AK. Not just yet

Thank so for the info guys. Looks like I can cross this one off my list! What would you recommend in place of the PSAK? I already have an SLR-107, but was hoping to pick up another quality AK for under $600... any suggestions? TIA.

WASR from ATLANTIC arms..

Atlantic hand picks if you want. Don't trust centry arms.

Right now at Sportsmensguide you can get a WASR on sale for $530 which is a great deal. Its a true combloc AK and thats what you want.
Other than that, you will be hard pressed finding any quality AK's for under $600.

Remember when AK's use to be the "cheap" EBR option? now you can build budget AR's for about half that lol.

multiple reasons for that. 1. Back then it was older surplus stuff mixed with low demand. Now people have caught on and the AK is "popular", but the importers have been drying up. 2. Importers. With sanctions going on there are only a few combloc imports allowed in, and with Arsenal USA and Century choking off all imports and jacking prices up, we're not looking good for cheap AKs...

there are some GREAT AK's on the market (look at what Atlantic is offering), but they are gonna cost you as american labor is way more pricey than commie labor. Sad but true :(... I should have bought a dozen of those $189 mak90's back in the 90s... I could have sold a few them them and covered the cost of the whole dozen ...sigh

Poor quality. My psak is back at the factory for the third time since February. Gas tube broke. Unacceptable stock wobble. Bolt carrier left receiver rail and wedged up under dust cover. Customer service is very frustrating.

Thats a shame. They showed promise when they first came out.

So is mine. They have had it over a month, and not one word. I called, and the guy said there was no information on the repair. For a rifle that got such great reviews, it is becoming a disappointment. I am selling it, if I ever get it back.

Go to Youtube and look up the AK Operators Union. They test Ak's. This one did extremely well. They did a 10,000 round test on it. I got one because of it. The price drop on these guns make them a bargain.

AK Operators are a bunch of lame hacks with flawed methodology. Their tests are far from concise and scientific by any stretch. You'll constantly see the main tester at a loss at to why something isn't functioning correctly which speaks volumes toward his aptitude and intelligence. Pure entertainment yet morons constantly purchase guns because AK operators tested it by dropping it on a rock and doing pushups on the magazine. That said, if I was going to be an American made AK this updated PSA iteration would probably be the one.

I got the MOE version in a package deal with a freedom AR. This thing rocks! Ive owed wasr and pap92, still have the pap.

This by far blows away the wasr IMO. The finish is leaps and bounds ahead of the wasr. The fitment of everything is also way beyond the wasr. It cycles smoother in my opinion too than the wasr and pap.

Id say its a toss up though on which is my fav, this or the pap for sure.
