The Palmetto State Armory KS47 is based on the AR15, and combines the modular construction, accuracy and precision of the AR platform with the stopping power and the magazine options of the AK. While the current AR47 fires the 7.62x39 AK round, it uses modified AR-style magazines that are not nearly as plentiful as AK-style magazines, that were optimized for reliable feeding of the 7.62x39 round. The KS47 lets the AK shooter capitalize on his inventory of magazines and ammo with an AR-style platform.
Unlike the AK, where the barrel is permanently pressed into the receiver, the KS47 features an AR-style modular configuration which consists of a barreled upper receiver, and a lower receiver that houses the fire control group and magazine. The modular configuration allows customers to have several different barrel configurations with one lower receiver, just by releasing two pins.
Lower: The 7075-T6 billet lower receiver is hardcoat anodized, and accepts standard AR15 fire control groups. The extended magazine release is outside of the trigger guard for safety, which allows for an AK-style release movement, but also features oversize side paddles for fingertip release by the trigger finger. Fitted with a standard PSA A2-style grip and M4-style stock, the receiver also features a standard, mil-spec diameter, 6 position, 7075 carbine buffer tube. The KS47 lower has steel reinforcements to accept AK style surplus magazines including drum-style.
Upper: The KS47 hybrid upper receiver is precision machined out of billet 7075 T6 aluminum, and then hardcoat anodized for durability. While retaining the look of a standard M4 upper, the KS47 hybrid upper is designed to work with either the KS47 lower, or the standard AR47 lower. The chrome moly vanadium barrel is chambered in 7.62x39 with a 1 in 10 twist, has M4-style feed ramps, is nitride treated for accuracy and durability, and is finished off with a 5/8-24 thread A2-style compensator. The forward, assist, dust cover, charging handle, and safety are all standard AR15, as are the PSA Classic Polymer Handguards.
BCG: The hybrid KS47 Bolt carrier group works with either AK47 magazines or AR47 magazines, and features an extended firing pin. The carrier is made of 8620 steel, chrome lined and phosphate coated, and the chrome lined gas key is attached with grade 8 bolts and properly staked. The Bolt is made of phosphate coated 9310 steel.
Comes with one Magpul 30 round magazine (where allowed by law).
The KS47 Upper and Hybrid BCG are compatible with standard AR15 lowers for use with AR47-style magazines.
FFL IS REQUIRED.  Be sure to put the Name and address of the preferred FFL in the ship  to field, care of your name.
Please check your local laws before ordering.  Not legal for sale in some states.

I've heard that in the 308's but no experience. I have sent the mid tactical evo showing up the last couple
Weeks on buds for $660 which is crazy. That's a heck of a deal. I ended up picking one up for $780 a while back and love it. Really nice gun. Quality/finish is outstanding and on par with my higherend AR's (PWS, Headdown, BCM). Trigger sucks but already took care of that. Anyway ended up being a solid purchase and it's ran flawless so far. Fairly accurate from what I've seems although no serious testing yet and nothing over 100 yards.. I put a 1-6 vortex strike eagle on it which seems to be perfect.

I have the m-lok rail version and i love it. I have the primary arms 1-6×24 with a aero precision mount. All i run is tula ammo and its very accurate. Had no problem at 300yds hitting steel. My favorite gun for now

On side note how do you like Adam arms? I've been eyeing the mid tactical evo version at buds. Occasionally the price drops significantly from over $1100 to $770. There make an offer option was actually busted and it was accepting $150 bids. I ordered 4 and actually got a shipping notice then got a call from them canceling order a few days later. Then they offered me a discounted price of $999 when they were going for $770 when I made original purchases. I told them I would buy one at $770 as they already had my money anyways and was told that price is impossible as its below there cost. Which would have been fine but they do sell them at that price a couple times a year. I regress sorry but I don't buy from them anymore. Obviously the $150 was a mistake but don't lie to me after you just took my money and now your asking how you can make it right. Anyways back to my original question. Thoughts on Adams arms? I've also been watching the light version which is going for $699. That seems like a steal for a piston driven AR....

Older comment, but I just came across it on today's page.

I've got two factory AA uppers (16" mid and 16" carbine) and have built three others from parts (10.5" ultralight, 10.5" govt, and 16" ultralight middy).

All of the above run like tops. The two factory uppers took about 3 mags to break in (some short strokes) before they cycled reliably, and my parts builds all worked from the get go. The 10.5" ultralight is a bit over-gassed, but a full-weight carrier and H2 buffer tamed that down.

I've built a few other AA piston uppers for friends, and have several other range buddies that have them (several picked them up during the Bud's 'blem' sale a year or so back). Each one of the factory uppers too a bit of break in (less than 100rnd), but they've all run without issue since. Haven't had any issues with the ones built from parts. Not sure why the difference.

I have several as well, and they all run like tops. With exception of the factory 308. Can't get that one to run for the life of me!

No it doesn't sorry if it sounded that way. I called radical when I purchased and asked what I need to ensure it run well as I had read great reviews and terrible reviews. They said it shouldn't really need anything but suggested ASC mags and possibly an extended firing pin. I purchased a few of the ASC mags in 20 and 30 rounds and all have run perfect. I also ordered the pin they recommended from black hills for $9 bucks just in case I decided to shoot steel rounds. I ended up not needing as its ran perfect with steel and brass although I have not shot any super shit ammo but don't plan on it. Cheapest I will run through it is red army which it really seems to like. Great freaking gun. I was looking on PSA's site and think I'm gonna build on instead of buy. I Like the billet receiver plus want a free float handguard/barrel. These 7.62's are my newest obsession and can see why people love them!!!

Yup you probably right but it's also basically $400 more. I've put around 500 rounds though the radical over last 2 weeks or so and its actually ran flawless. There was one issue with failure to load but mag was not all the in. Other than that it's been so much fun to shoot and extremely accurate which really suprised me. At least until the barrel started heating up. I am running a vortex strikefire and its a great combo. I also added a Geissele 12 inch handguard from their blem sale, a surefire pro comp muzzle break, and joebobs nickle plated trigger. I must say this is my new fav AR. Been running red army steel through it with no issues. You are correct about finish. It's by no means perfect and doesn't hold a candle to any of my $1k plus AR's but that's not why I bought this. It's a kind of a beater. With that said I am now eyeing the Palmeto version and mutant by Cmmg.... Anyways great plateform and Ron of fun. To be honest you can't go wrong with either the radical, this version, or the Cmmg. Although maybe I got lucky with my radical but it's a freaking blast and I was able to add all those upgrades and still stay around $825 which is pretty good. Either way you go they are so much fun!!

The Radical takes AR type mags? I looked on their site but didn't see where they said it worked with AK mags like this one, Mutant or the MGI/Windham rifles. I've built a few 7.62x39 AR's used Adams Arms XLP piston kits, all 3 ran without an issue with the carbine kits, they don't advertise it works, did it as an experiment on the first one, did a second one, then a friend asked me to mod his, your results may vary. The XLP gas block has 5 vice 3 settings, so you can run more gas to cycle it.
Thanks in advance.

I have never had a failure with any PSA product. This is a better weapon than the Radical in fit, finish and materials. Having owned both, there is no comparison.

Standard ak mags vs. proprietary mags.

High-grade steel barrels vs. whatever was in stock that day...

Notice that Primary Arms sells both Radical and Palmetto, and guess who they chose to manufacture their own "Primary" branded uppers? P.S.A.

If you are going standard lower/7.62 upper, then yes, ASC mags are unbeatable for this platform. However, I'd still recommend PSA 7.62 uppers vs. Radical.

Sorry - I disagree having owned several of each. I've had stupid parts break on my PSA products with the latest being the bolt catch. PSA is quick to send out a new part and I appreciate the customer service but would rather not have it happen in the first place.

Radical on the other hand - I only own 2 of theirs but the fit and finish were never a problem. I've put more rounds through them than my PSA and they are still flawless and surprisingly / amazingly accurate with cheap AK ammo. Most importantly though - if I had any problems with fit and finish, as you've claimed to have, they have a warranty so you can send it back and get it corrected. I just don't see many posts where this is the case.

ASC mags were very sketchy in the past but have since corrected quality issues. I won't even touch that barrel comment...

I still think the premium to run AK mags is too great to make this sensible in any way shape or form. You just can't do the math or practical tactical argument to make it add-up. When the price drops to the $500-$600 range then they'll make sense over the other options to me.

On a side note the only other option I really considered was the Windham. I have two of their AR's already and absolutely love them. Also, their warrenty and CS is almost the best I've ever dealt with. HEAD down being the best but no one compares to theirs... Hopefully I don't kick myself for not going that route but saving the money allowed me to make the immediate changes I wanted to do. The radical was already setup with low profile gas, etc so easier to upgrade hand guard etc.... We shall see!!!

Hmmm interesting! Did you have issues with this version? I just purchased the radical version but did consider this because of mags. But to your point $350 more for this is not worth it. I would rather spend tye extra money and get the sig. But I just wanted something to beat around with so went the radical route. I also rely on reviews and did see a coupe negative ones in the radical but looks to be mainly related to the mags. I also heard their "lifetime" warrenty is a bit lip services because they are unresponsive but to be honest for the money I'm not sure how they can promise that anyway. Guess I will just cross my fingers and hope I get a good one;). If not they are only 3 hours from my house in Houston do I will stalk them down if not;). I'd love to hear any experience you have with these good or bad. Also if you recommend any particular mags?? I've heard ASC is the best which is great as they are only $10 a pop right now on sale at Palmeto;)

I'd still say the radical or Sig are better deals. Yes I like the fact this takes AK mags but the Sig is piston so when you add that upgrade the Sig is the clear choice. On the DI side just go with the Radical and use the extra money for ammo. I bought one and left a not so glowing review that Palmetto never made live. I rely on reviews for purchasing decisions and if Palmetto is filtering anything negative then makes me wonder. Eventually these will get down to a realistic price but until then too many negatives to justify these.

Couldn't agree more with this. I bought the Palmetto KS47 in keymod and also posted a bad review. Never went live. If you read the reviews, the only ones they let go live are high stars. But if you read them everyone is complaining about the same problems. There's one review that claims you can switch mil spec parts including BCG. 100% not true!!! But who wants to switch out non-working parts on a new gun anyway? The Sig is the best and I bought it after looking at CMMG and shooting my friends. My Sig chews up cheap Russian ammo and provides accuracy beyond belief.

Huge disappointment with this gun and I expect the prices will drop like a rock once the hype is over. I'll let mine go for the price of this one and it's a keymod vs. standard handguard.

Just wish I would have picked up a Giselle trigger but they wee out of stock during there blem sale. They had options starting at $80!! Ughh I will live with a Cnc.. Picked up a vortex red dot during July 4th sales as well. Gotta love holiday sales!! All that for $100 more then this deal is crazy..

I just picked up the radical firearms version listed above this and have heard great things. There is two versions with different stocks. I went with the cheaper version at classic firearms for 530 plus I picked up a 13' Giselle hand guard and already have a ctr stock. Thus out the door I'm at $630 with a badass upgraded AR. All that's left is vortex optics, drop in trigger, and BCM ch. all that and I should be right under $1K. His will do circles around a sig and is completely setup. Only thing left is some small tweaks.

$899.99 free shipped.

Tempting to get instead of sig556r which is on my want list.

But I still think it is $100 too much for me to bite :/
