I thought pistol braces were done?

Gaujo: Last Wednesday, a Texas-based Federal District Court judge issued a nationwide stay preventing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from enforcing its rule on pistols equipped with stabilizing devices (2021R-08F). Google it for the whole article.

This. This changed it from a limited injunction to a nationwide injunction. I dont think PSA would be selling these without it. Pretty ballsy of them for a manufacturer to test the waters. IMO this is where it will sit. IMO DOJ will appeal to supreme court but SC will not take it. IMO It will sit in never never land the BATF point system statement of intent to consider braced pistols not withdrawn but a DISTRICT federal injunction on enforcement of that ruling. SC wont take it and put egg on Bidens face. Thats why the PSA manufacturing these is ballsy. It sets what will become defacto law where braced pistols are commonly manufactured and sold as non NFA items. Thus PSA takes on the responsibility of possibly being charged with NFA violations and im sure is prepared to defend themselves legally. PSA deserves kudos for doing this. Of course they make no small amount of change from braced pistols. In a year or so this whole thing may be non existant issue with braced pistols once again manufactured and sold in every gun store. We will see. It will be somewhat bizarre that the BATF statement of intent will sit in the federal register unenforced. I also find it bizarre that these items effectively bypass the NFA requirements for SBRs. It appears that the BATF effectivly negated that aspect of the NFA with their original opinion that pistol braces do not violate the NFA and now that millions of braced pistols have been manufactured and sold there is no changing their original statement. Time will tell. We will see if having the told public law enforcement retailers and manufacturers that braced pistols are legal spinning them about 180 and telling them they are illegal now the public law enforcement retailers and manufacturers will spin 180 once again and regard them as legal not on the basis of a BATF statement of intent but the ruling of a federal district judge. A new BATF statement of intent would be definitive. A SC ruling would be definitive. IMO it will be left in limbo on purpose and the law will be defined by the federal district ruling, common usage and non enforcement. Bizarre that something effecting perhaps five million individuals will not be clearly and unequivocally defined. The SC should hear the case and resolve this matter once and for all. It appears the SC is somewhat timid in matters that bring the question of their powers into question. Rather than rule on controversial issues that are cut and dry constitutionally they simply just dont hear them. This reflects the equally bizarre reality that we have SC justices that enforce the constitution as is their mandate and SC justices that enforce a political belief system.

I find this unfortunate for the public, law enforcement, manufacturers and retailers should have a clear cut and unambiguous understanding of the law. The SC mandate first and foremost is to the constitution. This this is the result of executive branch attempting to legislate via administrative policies. Firearm owners should not have to interpret "grey" areas its the SC duty to clarify these things. The reality is if the SC exerts too much power they will "pack" the SC increasing its numbers with members that do not have a constitutional but political basis. Unfortunately while a federal district court ruling falls short IMO it along with the law as "COMMONLY PRACTICED" may be the best of realistic possible consequences. I dont know. The SC is all about showdowns. The thing is- you take your wins when you can.

My personal belief is the best thing any individual gun owner can do to preserve firearm rights is to be the safest most responsible firearm owner one can be. I dont like grey areas but you take your wins when you can. God help us if the SC gets "packed" or more members with a political not a constitutional basis are appointed. We now see that it is of critical importance that all federal judges that have a political not a constitutional basis appointment be apposed. This is critical for the constitution is the basis of fair and equally applied law that is so important to the liberties that we all enjoy in our republic. The constitution must be upheld even if it is in reference to a issue we disagree with if we are to continue to enjoy our nations freedom and liberties- the best place to live in the world. So sad that some people do not understand that every aspect of our standard of living derives from the constitution.

What’s with all the cheap Phosphate barrels lately. Is it 1975 ? I’ve Purchased a few of these uppers from Palmetto but I’m not gonna settle for phosphate just because that’s all they’re willing to give us now. everything I purchased before was nitride.

I am almost there in convincing myself to "pull the trigger" on this. Should I do it? Please provide your feedback one way or the other if I should buy as my first 300AAC

If your not going to run it suppressed or hunt with it, then this would be ok. It's a cheap plinker. If you do want to hunt with expanding bullets and shoot suppressed, look at a 1-5 twist barrel.

Only going to be used as a range and self defense option. Not looking to suppress or hunt with it. Do you have any feedback on reliability? I have heard mixed reviews on PSA branded rifles/pistols.

Got one. Bit of a gimmick. wanted to get something that I could use with a suppressor one day. I tried the sub sonics and they were super dirty. Took a good amount of effort to clean up the gun. S&B. And that was without a suppressor ,that will make it worse. Not a fan of the shockwave either. I Iike my 9mm better, with the SB3. Cheap to shoot and does the job. besides, psa right now has just about shut down its customer support service and I have had damaged parts sent to me in the past by them.

I have a similar setup to this one, but with the SBA3 instead of the KAK Shockwave and a 2-stage LaRue instead of the standard PSA trigger. Those two changes were what made the platform for me. S&B is known to be dirtier ammo than other manufacturers. It cleans up just fine, IMO. Also, if you’re really bothered by it, just swap the gas block to an adjustable model. That will help with fouling.

100% agree with your assessment of PSA, though.

I'm on the fence, also. I shot a friend's 8.5" 5.56 and liked it but was leaning toward another caliber maybe.

I have a 10.5" 300BO with a Hardened upper and a PSA lower with SBA3 brace. This is a blast to shoot. Got it for suppression, which is the sole purpose of this caliber and to function well with shorter pistol barrels. The optimal length is 9". So, this should shoot very well. I personally like 10.5" and don't understand a 16" 300BO barrel. That's not what the caliber was designed for. Below is my baby.
