I was tempted by this, but aren't the pistol length gas systems much more reliable than the carbine length systems???

If you’re running a 16” barrel, you’re likely not suppressing it, so not much point running subsonic rounds. The supersonic rounds will cycle just fine in carbine length gas systems. I even have a 13.5” pistol in 300 Blackout with carbine length gas system, and she also cycles 110gr Hornady polymer tipped rounds perfect.
