I shot 100 of these rounds Saturday, at the range, thru my Para Hunter. I wish I could report that it was filthy, malfunction prone, crappy ammo. This would ensure more for me. But, as it was, this ammo performed w/out a hitch! No failures of any kind; feeding, ejecting, operation of slide. No excessive smoke or residue either. All rounds were shot, while bearing in mind, potential "kabooms" from double charges or squibs, from insufficient charges. Spent brass was saved and inspected for any signs of rupture, due to claims of "thin brass". None found. This ammo worked just fine for punching holes in paper. In fact, free shipping at Sportsman's Guide for orders over $49 w/ shipping code SH1583, led me to purchase another 250 rds for next w/e!

I agree this is a light load for 10mm, I think it is a little hotter than a standard 40 S&W load.
It has functioned flawlessly in my gen 4 glock 20 so far.
The price is really right though. even at the $20.49 price it is less than the cheapest Winchester .45 100 round Value Pack and .380 ammo at Wal-Mart.
So for all the people down voting this--show me a better deal with S&H.--please.

This is the best deal I've found for 10mm target ammo (you can't compare different calibers.) The accurate price is $20.49/box of 50 with free S&H; $19.47 for Buyer's Club members. You should be able to get the membership for a net $10 rather than $29.99.

If SG were consistently the best price on most ammo it would be an easy decision.

This price is wrong $19.47 (box of 50) is the "Buyer's Club" price ($30/year membership--sometimes available for less through targeted email.) I paid the non-Buyers Club price of $20.49 x 10 = $204.90 yesterday with a free S&H coupon code (opt out of the lame "package protection" for .99¢ by unchecking) and that's cheap for 10mm target ammo.

I've been waiting for the (10mm) Georgia Arms "Canned Heat" to come back in stock but it hasn't happened. It's normally the cheapest factory ammo available, with shipping I paid $248 for a box of 500 last time. It's better ammo than PPU but for target shooting mouse farts are fine.

Look to Underwood Ammo for the full power self-defense loads, especially in 180gr or 200gr XTP loadings. Better than Buffalo Bore and less money.

This is a once per year good price. Selway Armory out of Montana had it just a bit cheaper about 11 months ago. I ordered this from Cheaper Than Dirt about 11 hours before Sportsmans Guide came out with this better price. I tried to cancel my order with CTD, but they refused. At only 575 ft lbs. @ 1200fps it is just okay. In fact it is better than Armscor FMJ which is listed at 529 ft lbs. @ 1150fps. Not 10mm Buffalo Bore, but better than almost all .45ACP +P.

very light ammo--my glock 20 sometimes won't even chamber a round, wondering how hard would be to pull the bullets and load up with powerpistol to a decent 10mm load level

one of the most neutered 10mm rounds if shot

The price is low but so is the quality of the product. Around 900-940 fps from my standard glock G20. Much less than many 40 S&W rounds.

Their shipping is high too - 30 to ship 10 boxes. Brings the price up over my LGS. TBH the only reason to buy this is to get the brass for reloading after you shoot these crappy rounds. If you're not reloading, you're better off buying 40 S&W to shoot out of the G20.

You are right about VERY weak, that's for sure! This ammo is NOT a good deal unless you want to shoot sub .40 S&W power loads and save the brass for reloading. Fires from my Glock G20 they were 850-940 FPS. They barely moved the action with my 24 lb recoil spring in! Had to switch out to the factory weak one so they wouldnt stove pipe. Which is very sad considering that i have fired .40 S&W out of it and they functioned fine! (Not a good idea for anyone to try btw) If you are looking quality and full power 10mm loads, go with Underwood Ammo.

This ammo is NOT a good deal unless you want to blast off some sub 40 S&W level loads and save the brass for reloading. Chrono testing was 850 fps to 940 fps from a standard Glock G20. I would buy underwood ammo or LAX reloads over this stuff any day. Also AIM surplus sells it cheaper ($18.95) once in a blue moon when they actually have something in stock.

Thanks! $.40 per round after shipping. If there's a better deal out there, I'd like to find it.

Lanbos armory has limited supply of Armscor 10mm 180gr FMJ for $19.95 / box 50. The Armscor isn't Underwood, but it's hotter than PPU.

Georgia-arms has a better deal when you buy 500 rounds...currently out of stock but I paid .40 a round shipped in an ammo can not 2 months ago...not the hottest load but good quality stuff.

$.28 a round for 40 S&w from Freedom Munitions is a better deal. it's the same load basically. I only got 850-940 FPS out of my Glock 20 with this stuff. So it's really only a good deal if you are looking to fire it once and save the brass for reloading. It's a very neutered 10mm round. I'd recommend underwood ammo over this even at $27 a box. But if a person NEEDs to shoot a 10mm or practicing with a new firearm this could serve some purpose. 10mm is a difficult cartridge for me to understand "plinking ammo" as useful. Ya know? anyway it's fun to pay such a cheap price for ANY 10mm ammo, Just don't expect much.

Underwood's prices have gone up.. now over 29 a box for their cheapest stuff :( .. still the best 10mm ammo around though.

.. and you're right, this stuff is like a light 40 load - but good if you want the brass.

I have read mixed reviews about the 10mm PPU brass for reloading. Anyone have any experience with it?

thanks

That's extreme, but you gotta point. I paid $40 shipping for 20 boxes from AIM, .42 per round after shipping. This would be about .62 per round after shipping, and you've only got 2 boxes.

Who wants to be restricted to buy 1 or 2 boxes only and pay $20 for shipping?!? AIM Surplus had this same ammo last week for less money, cheaper shipping and no 1-2 box limit.

Limit of 2 plus shipping is almost as much as the product.
Try ordering anything from them and use the shipping cost calculator!

SKIPPITY!!!! AIMSurplus requires! you to upload a copy of your ID to purchase ammo although it's not required by law.

We don't need yet another place for PII to be available.

I think some states do require proof of age 18+. AIM Surplus is in Ohio, which I know used to have some funky ammo laws, but I'm not sure of the current details. Anyway, I felt the same way as you, but AIM does have good ammo deals at times, and I eventually broke down. I only sent them a portion of my ID, though. My license number, photo and signature were cropped out. The name, address and birth date were visible. They accepted it with no questions.

This is a pretty good deal for 10mm. PPU makes reasonably high quality budget ammo. I've heard their 10mm is pretty weak (.40S&W+p), but it seems like all commercial 10mm just keeps getting weaker. Good for target practice. I only load DoubleTap or Buffalo Bore in my G29 for defense, especially when I'm defending against something with fur and fangs.
