While the Shield is an ok CCW pistol, I do not see them being worth the asking price here. Too many other, better options for less money. No optic ready slide is just dumb. Not too long ago the regular off the shelf Shield was $200_$225. So this model just doesn't pan out for me. Of course this is my opinion and I will respect yours. Just ask you do the same

Its optic ready with night sights, for $499 for the bugout bag kit I thought was good

They are running a bug out bag promotion. $549 you get optic ready shield plus with 4-13 round mags, 1-10 round mag and a $50 rebate. the three extra magazines is a $120 value, sell off the bag for $30. I think that is a great deal. $549-$50 rebate = $500- $120 in extra mags=$380- $30 selling bag= $350 for a optic ready shield plsu with tritium sights......Atleast that's how I rationalize it to myself or you can go with a basic shield plus for $370 after rebate

I was wondering if it was just me when I thought I saw deals for the original Shield for around 200-250 after rebate... I'd much rather have the v2 or preferably Plus but for the prices they want these days I'll just wait. Same as the Mossberg shockwave I was going to grab around 250-300... They're all going for around 450-500 now, it seems. Thanks, Zhou!

I have one and yes I recommend it as the ported barrel and slide does reduce recoil and muzzle flip.

I didn’t really find that the ported barrel and slide made much of a difference in recoil reduction on the older PC Shield but maybe that’s changed with this model.

This keeps getting posted and they still aren't shipping.

Anyone have an idea of when these will be shipping?

I want one but the 10 dollar handling charge and sales tax brings this to 508 bucks. No thanks. If I'm gonna pay that much I'll buy through my local retailer when they get them. For now I'll stick with my gen 2 PC 45 shield. I just won't miss!

I want an optics ready slide and a thumb safety S&W!!!

Buy and get it milled for an rmr or holosun. Way better than the crimson trace they force you to have with the optics ready

Great deal despite what's going on. You get a tried and true gun, higher capacity, fiber optic sights, Performance trigger upgrade and a ported barrel/slide. What's not to love?

Ported barrel/slide turns your shield into a flashbang. I understand its purpose, but it is a horrible gun to have in low lighting as it can seriously throw off your vision. I am not hating on the gun whatsoever, I love mine, but it does have a downside.

I have the PC shield with the ported barrel and have no issues shooting in low light. Now I wish they'd come with good night sights instead of the fiber optic ones but that's just nitpicking.

Thats a myth.

That's very over dramatic. I'm betting internet gun guys like you have never run any CQB training in the dark yet feel the need to share your baseless opinion.

I have ported guns. I have a Shield 45 Pro. You're being a drama queen about the ports. Instead of a flash all coming from the muzzle, a similar in brightness, smaller in shape, just as bright, and fraction of a second flash resonates from the ports. It's not that big of a deal. I've gotten bigger flashes from the cylinder gap and out the muzzle of revolvers and AR/AK pistols vs from the ported barrel of a semiauto handgun.

Totally agree with your statement, drama. I was shooting mine yesterday. There's no flash or powder that interferes with your sight. Total hogwash. The pistols a nice controllable small handgun. I've carried and shot the Performance Center gun for years with no issues.

I get what you're saying, but the gun is not mainly meant for home defense if that's what you're implying. You can, but not the main purpose. It's main job is CC. Also, recoil is reduced as it is a somewhat snappy gun. The benefits outweigh the cons.

The Shield isn’t really snappy at all for how small and concealable it is. One of the reasons it’s such a best seller, really easy ‘shootability’, and obviously the solid reliability.
