Yes, these things do weigh quite a bit. Unfortunately, the ends that support the hammock are plastic, and since the box weighs so much, the common carrier tends to shove it off the back of the truck and you've got a 50/50 chance that the end of the box with the plastic "suspension" joints hits the ground 1st. Then you're stuck with shipping it back to SG for a refund [less your cost of shipment.] Grrr. :-(
Been waiting for them to have it on sale for $28 again before I try my luck a 2nd time...
I bought one of these this last spring. I do a lot of boat camping and this hammock has earned a permanent place on my camping trips. I am 6'2" and fit comfortably. I've taken quite a few naps on it throughout the summer. I even bought one for my wife because I was sick of fighting over the 1 we had. This is a great price.
At 26lbs it's not light.
The same style of hammock, or this model that he sportsman guide sells?
I've had mine on my back porch for about two years now. It's great because you can fold it up and then pull it out when you need it. I don't know about camping with it because it's pretty heavy, but if you want a simple one-person hammock, this one is good for the price.
