Nice case. $60 isn't a deal. Last time I bought one, I paid <$45.

It's still just a 42" inside diameter case. Won't even come close to fitting a 46" gun.

anyone here know where I can buy the replacement foam insert? tried contacting Plano but no answer

There's a company that sales it right on Amazon. They sale it in both pre-cut for an ar or solid & you cut yourself. From what I remember it is a bit pricey & for the price these cases are going for now, you'll probably be better off to buy an entire new case.

Ive seen it available online but don’t recall where. A possible better option is using Kaizen foam instead. You’ll have to cut it to case size but it’s more secure and fitte.

These cases are high quality for the money. Too much whining about it how tough these are. What are you guys doing, using them as furniture? If you take care of your things and don't drag this behind your vehicle on the way to the range, there's no way your weapon will be damaged using these. It's not a dang safe, lol.

That said, this is a 42" case but you can't put a 24" barrel rifle in there. There's about 1.5" of "edge" on the foam that isn't pluckable. My 24" barrel 308 rifle won't fit in one which was really, really disappointing. They really need to make another model of this -- 6" longer. Make sure you measure you total gun length before you buy!

I'm waiting for another good sale to add to the 10 of these that I've gotten over past couple years. BUT, this $69 isn't a sale price. As past reviewers note below, $50-60 is the sale price--so I'm not sure why someone posted this standard price.
That being said, this is by far the best bang-for-buck on cases (and I do own several Pelicans and Case Clubs for comparison). This 42" will hold 2 AR's without scopes, or one AR with a scope. Or if you have scope mounts that hold zero with removal, then you can fit 2 AR's and 2 small/medium scopes or red dots/magnifiers (with the scopes removed). It won't hold 2 AR's and 2 large scopes (such as large Vipers or Razors). For further reference, a Ruger RPR with a mounted Razor HD maxes-out the width of these cases.
By the way, the 42" is the interior dimension length.....these are 46 3/4" exterior length.

Just tried to purchase this and the discount for (2) cases did not apply. Contacted Amazon and they advised that this promotion ended Oct. 1st.

Best Deal for a hard case. Very secure and lockable. Don't pass this up if you've been waiting. I ordered two and wish I had more but I hate to be greedy. Too much fun to customize the foam. Balance your rifle, center in the case, then add custom spots for magazines and other accessories. It holds a ton of stuff if you plan your spots right and protects optics 1000% more than a soft case. I love mine!

I have a compact truck with a regular cab, and don't have a topper or cover for the bed of the truck. This seemed like a decent enough deal for me to insure the safety of a couple long guns if/when I transport them to the range or travel with them. Thanks for posting!

How did you get $15.00 off $50.00?

I bought one last night, and you DO NOT need to sign up for Prime. Just add the case to your shopping cart and the discount automatically applies. If you want to double check before paying, there is a button off to the right of the screen in your shopping cart that says 'Estimate your shipping and tax'. Hit it and it will show you have a Plano $15 off discount along with free shipping anyway.

Sign up for free amazon prime for 30 days(make sure you cancel it if you don't want it after 29 days) put the case in the cart and go to checkout. The $15 dollars off will be there when you go to purchase it. I just bought one 5 minutes ago, was going to get 200 rds of .5.56 somewhere else, but got this instead. Had one before(it got ran over believe it or not) and they are a nice case. Free two day shipping for a month too! Free movies too. I probably will keep it, as I'm using Amazon more now, had too many problems with Ebay. I still don't know how to contact anybody that works there on the Ebay site.

Once you get Prime you'll never cancel it. Crazy sometimes what you can get sent for free in 2 days. Have a kid in college which makes it even cheaper.

I Contacted Amazon thru HELP button, as discount did not appear. Technically it says on "select Plano Items". They took care of me and refunded the $15 plus and extra $2 off to cover tax and a bonus for my trouble seeing it's x-mas eve. I ordered 2 Plano Vertical Rifle Cases - Single Scoped. Here are the details I found. Save $15 On Your Purchase of $50 or more, off "Select" Plano cases and boxes. The $15 credit should be applied at checkout when you purchase $50 or more of eligible Plano products. Or just hit "HELP" like i did.

Applies only to products sold by Amazon.com; does not apply to items sold by other merchants on the Amazon.com website. Limited time offer. Offer valid until 1/5/2015. Hope this helps...

My steyr Aug has been sitting in its original cardboard box for a few months now.... I wanted a hard case for it and this seems to fit the need for storage and carrying to range. $64 with amazon tax seems like a good deal.

Great case, decent price.

Has held up well bouncing around in the bed of the 4x and kept my gear dry through some pretty torrential southeast summer downpours.

Way better than the aluminum wrapped, cardboard, pelican wannabe case that I bought two years back.(which has literally fallen apart since then.)

I think someone could get away with selling this for $50 shipped though.

Unsure why there's so much whining about these cases.. they are decent and effective. I have two this size and one of the larger double scoped gun guard cases and they are nice cases for the money. If you want something more rugged, then drop $200+ for a Pelican. I'd say that these cases are positioned between the non rugged flimsy plastic and fabric cases, and the heavy duty pelicans...

The clasp locks are effective to keep casual snoops out, but use a couple of master locks if you need more security. I don't bother with the clasp locks, but use master locks that are keyed to the master locks on my other cases and ammo boxes. YMMV..

THANK YOU! Why is everyone so worried about the latches and people possibly unlatching them? The latches are perfectly fine and if you want security than you should be using a damn lock anyhow...

I am returning my case. The quality is ok but the latching system is not very secure. The latches can be popped open with a simple screw driver, even when locked.

This is an amazing deal for $57. The case is very well made for that price. The included latch-locks aren't ready for prime time, but even with the added price of quality locks, this deal is pretty hard to beat.

I returned mine because it was defective, possible defective design. With the case latched and locked, I was able to unlatch it with mild/moderate force. I wasn't sure if it was latched properly, so I pulled on the top latches and to my surprise it unlatched. Repeat on all other latches and same result. Maybe the one I had was defective, so I returned to amazon. Try pulling on the top portion of each latch.

Purchased one Friday and received today. It's not a Pelican, but for the money, you can't beat it. Very sturdy. Would buy again. Thanks

The lid is quite flimsy. I wouldn't feel comfortable standing on it.
Also, these go for $70- $75 regularly at Walmart. So this isn't too much of a deal.

Agreed on both counts. For over $30 I want a pretty damn strong case because all my cases under $30 are pretty good themselves so it is only expected. Too many times a price is based upon what Amazon sellers are asking or a retail catalog price, which is usually 25% more than Walmart...

Great case for it's purpose. Not sure if plane travel is part of that purpose. Check Walmart.....I got it for $69.99!
