Ironically, the Navy [.36 cal] brass frames don't blow themselves apart over time when used with normal BP loads [15-18gr]; it's this fantasy gun that Pietta has made [none of the Confed originals were .44 cal for a REASON!] that has a limited lifespan. And yes, since Bass Sux took over running the show, Cabelas now lumps these non-firearms in with their modern guns and the bonus codes and free shipping, etc are no longer applicable since their fine print says "...not for firearms..."

In all fairness, Cab's rotates thru their special sale guns, so last week was the long barrel, next week will be ???, etc. Their after Xmas blowout on several different brassers was the best I've seen them do for awhile tho'...
These brass framed revolvers are weaker than the steel framed version which are also on sale right now at Cabela's for an extra $50. The brass frames are pretty, but if you want to shoot it a bunch or use full power loads get the steel.
And don't forget to look for discount Cabela's gift cards on Ebay, but make sure you get a legit seller.
This here is a great snag for any Black Powder enthusiast or Survival prepper. Will last 1000 Rounds (Which most ppl don't even shoot their AR15 that much) before it starts to wear apart. I Recommend going to Cabelas and picking up a 1858 New Army Remington "replica" not "firearm" they cost a bit more but much to what the soldiers of that day would a test that they are a slight superior revolver due to easy swap of the cylinders and a more rugged because of the stainless steel back strap compared to this Open top
