The Pietta 1851 Navy Pepperbox Black Powder Revolver is the perfect unique addition to any black powder collection. The first pepperbox revolvers originated in the 1500s and used matchlock mechanisms. With the advent of pin-fire cartridges, the pepperbox regained some popularity in the late 1800s as a small, concealable weapon. Pietta's pepperbox features a single action brass backstrap and trigger guard, steel frame with casehardened finish and walnut grips. Although it does have a longer cylinder, the Pepperbox does follow typical loading recommendations for a Navy revolver that are included in the manufacturer's manual. No conversion cylinder is available for this model.

The "Smart Car" of revolvers.

This is so impractical I can think of allot of ways better to spend 220. I have 65 guns do I need another one like this . Not only No hell No

Do you own *any* BP handguns? If no, then you're absolutely correct, this is a poor place to start. If you do, then you're right again, you can always better spend the money on more powder & caps for the percussion handguns you already own. This is a range toy for shizzits & giggles, not a practical gun for daily carry. I can see it as a part of a SASS costume for Cowboy Action events, altho' I'm not part of that crowd. Meanwhile, if you live in snake country, this actually *could* be a reasonable carry piece vs. paying for "snake loads" [which are notoriously bad performers.]

If you could consistently chain fire them and turn it into a shotgun, I might consider it.

Should be easy enough to fabricate a connector ring that would distribute the backblast from the top [fired] chamber to its neighbors, and so on. Kind of like the "hornet's nest" 12ga adapter that fires off a bunch of 22lr at once. I'll have to give that a thought... This being about the only BP firearm where you could safely *do* that, it at least isn't an absurd idea!

$220 for a gun without a barrel? not a deal! just kidding, ill see myself out!!

It has a barrel; in fact, it has 6 of them! The problem being that they're smoothbore [ergo, inaccurate & *none* of them shoots to POA] and too short to build up decent velocity [again, rifling would help get a better burn out of the BP.]

Actually, this is a smoking deal [pun intended!] since the MSRP for these was $220 *before* the Kung Flu pandemic began & then Potatohead Joe's fraud machine got him into office & he started up the hyperinflation; most charcoal burners are now listing for 1.5x their MSRP from 2 years ago [at the very least!]

I'm lucky I got one back when Cab's had them on sale for $170 shortly after Pietta first released them. Now if I can just find my spherical tuit and do up a DIY EDM rifling thingy for this & burn some rifling into the barrels so it will have some chance of hitting something beyond throwing rocks distances...

Pretty sure Duellist1954 has a review of one on his channel, and if not Guns of the West probably does on his. They're kind of my "start here" go-tos for BP content over on the tube of yous... I like capandball a lot too, but he's in Hungary and his content deals with a lot of BP era originals rather than repops like we get over here [altho' he's done some repop content as well.]

My biggest issue w/ the Pietta pepper box is that just like the originals, there's no front sight [as they were intended for conversational-distance disputes.] The other issue is that they kinda screwed the pooch by making the retention screw a rt-hand thread, and since the cylinder rotates normally [clockwise from the shooter's view; counter clockwise from the front] it naturally wants to unscrew the retaining screw! So, sub-optimal, but of course, the unit cost would be a lot more if they'd had to get special left-hand screws & the associated tooling to do it right.

Bottom line, it's a novelty gun, even moreso than a regular C&B repop...

This would be awesome with a birds head grip!

It sure would! But even if you could *get* the parts for the bird's-head grip Pietta uses on their snub-nose 1851 & 1860 models, they want almost as much for the grip frame & panels as you'll spend on this whole gun! DAMHIK...

Oh jeez figure's. Hopefully they'll bring it like that from the factory. If they price it below $300 retail I'll buy one for shit's and grin's.

Well, now that we're coming back from the past 2 years of shutdowns due to the Kung Flu, hopefully we'll start seeing product & parts supplies going back to normal. In the EU, Italy bore the brunt of early f/x from the CCP export of the Wuhan virus because of their participation in the whole "Belt & Road" debt trap; when China had shutdown all domestic flights out of Wuhan to other parts of China 2 years ago, they were still running international flights from Wuhan to anywhere else in the world so that their economy wouldn't be the only one to suffer when word got out about the new plague. Bastidges...

Anyway, both Berretta [Uberti] and Pietta have been at a virtual standstill for the past couple years, so this is a very hopeful sign that life is returning to normal! And maybe someone will there will realize they're missing an obvious trick & we'll get the birdshead grip on it soon...
