Shipping adds $30.
Wonder if $1 per 50rd rebate will apply?

No manufacturer would honor a rebate on trade in merchandise.

Great deal - retail is $600.

In for one! Been buying from Recoil for some time now. Good to deal with, fast shipping.

I always carried Speer gold dot 124gr as a self defense round until last year when I pulled out a magazine and a bullet separated from the casing and hit the floor. Now I only use critical defense or golden saber. Glock 19

Its the gen2 gold dot. Speer "recalled" these because they do not expand. They are nos just a overpriced FMJ round since the have no use for personal defense

This is not the 2014 recalled ammo

So, $0.38 per round is a deal on loose, trade in ammo?

Does this batch have random copper colored ball ammo mixed in like last year's? No, I didn't buy any. I just recall a couple in last years terrible deal pic.

This is one of the worst "deals" I have ever seen posted here

All my orders have never contained a single fmj, all have been nicked cased gold dot ammo in excellent condition. No failures or problems thru hundreds of rounds. Good company too. Very satisfied with my purchase.

I agree, I bought a thousand rounds and on the website it says that it could contain up to 5% fmj but mine didn't have a single one. Mine also lacks the marks on the case or projectile and arrived pretty clean although one of the plastic bags was ripped and a few rounds spilled out into the box. No big deal. I guess that is the only thing that I can complain about. At this price I can shoot these instead of fmj out of my suppressors since the 147 grain is usually subsonic. My cans are still in jail but I will find out how these sound through a can in a few months. I didn't chrono any. I am thinking about buying some more. If they still have some after I have time to chrono this or shoot it through one of my cans and it is indeed subsonic then I will order some more.

If you are dissatisfied with the website or content of the site you are sold, the exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the site. WTF? You must check this box to order.

I purchased 1250 rounds, it is not recall ammo. One can tell that this has been cycled thru magazines. It's casings have light scratches and handling marks as well as a thin film of carbon like dust. I went through and wiped down each land and have shot several hundreds of these rounds thru several of my weapons without failure of a single round. Great deal.

Sorry for not clarifying, it shoots fine, they would not sell it if it was bad ammo, the point is if you want to use this for self defense it might not open up and mushroom like it should and not cause as much damage, that is the point of using hollow point ammo, FBI recalled it because it had poor performance it ballistic testing, it acted life FMJ ammo most of the time, safe to shoot, but I personally would not use it for carry ammo because of the unknown performance,

Yes, this is overpriced, clean looking "FMJ" range ammo. NOT FOR SELF DEFENSE

This is most likely recalled FBI ammo, not traded in, the FBI asked spear to recall the ammo because of poor performance and it's label on the boxes as "not for duty use" Training only, that is why it's in bulk and no boxes, why would a police department trade in ammo only manufacture since 2014, I would not pay more for this than FMJ ammo.

This is the alleged "new improved" round for law enforcement, however improved part is subjective.... Test show poor expansion/performance for a 9mm hollow point. That said, the price is right, getting brass cased plinking ammo for this price would be a challenge, and certainly not manufactured to the consistency of Speer... They also offer a 250 rnd box for just under $100.....

Ordered 1000 rounds and it was on its way next day. So far very happy with this merchant. This is actually my second order from them. I made a mistake in previous comment. I didn't realize it was the same company I purchased from before. It came quick and ammo was perfect. Highly recommended. I too can purchase LE only ammunition and actually haven't had any issues in any of my handguns. My duty weapon, HK VP9, range weapon, my Glock 17 M.O.S with vortex venom red dot, and my conceal carry weapon, Smith and Wesson shield 9mm. All shot this stuff very well and accurate.

Fantastic ammo! Not sure about this dealer, but I purchased 250 rounds of this trade in ammo from another company and all 250 rounds were clean and performed flawlessly. Not one round was bad, all were excellent and had alot of power and accuracy. This is an excellent price too as I paid $99 plus $13 shipping for 250 rounds from the other company.

This merchant here has pretty decent customer support. Like you I ordered 1000+ rounds from another merchant, I got a really good deal, but that merchant only sells to LEOs, Departmentally or Military, including retirees, so I was fortunate. I do know the merchant rejected my sale when G2 first was introduced, at that time it was department sales only, with no exceptions.

If this is what's depicted in the photo above, the nickel cased rounds are 1st gen Speers G2

Apparently 1st gen Speer G2 has issues with expansion in subcompact 9mm's. I shot a bunch into multiple layers of denim and a heavy layer of canvas over plaster into a 55gal water barrel from a Glock 17 and a Sig 226. I don't own a subcompact, nor is 9mm my go to round. We did however have access to a full auto mini Uzi , but we forgot to do expansion tests as we were having too much fun, that little bastard gobbles ammo like no tomorrow. Gets expensive to shoot that thing, glad I don't own one.

On a side note, I did see expansion with my full size 9mm sidearms. But it's a fact that G2 1st generation has issues with short barrels, and that's why it's available to the public at a substantial discount. Would I trust it as my go to round for self defense? Probably not, but I would in a pinch since I tested it through my full sized sidearms, in a sub compact, I would relegate this stuff to range use only, just being honest..

Still a good deal, the new Speer G2 in 50rd black boxes is $.60 a round + shipping. Most vendors won't sell it to the public as its generally department sales only. Which annoys me to no end.

When I bought this ammo, it came in 350 round Speer white bulk boxes denoting training only. But at the end of the day, it was the same price as what I pay for 9mm FMJ plinking ammo. Making it a no brainer purchase.

I think Recoil ships these in ammo cans, which is always nice.

What a meatsock to thumb me down for telling you what this is.

What a moron. A few days ago I shot of a box of 350 of Speers G2. Not one issue.

Yup, I made the mistake; bought it. It is definitely GDHP G2 with polymer in the tip. It was the 14 head stamp that was recalled and later resold to LE in a white box that said "FOR TRAINING USE ONLY" because they failed to expand when hitting soft tissue. They are sold to LE as training because the ballistics are the same as the new stuff that expands like the original G2 was supposed to do, but the first gen of G2 had inconsistencies in weather it would expand or not. I guess it is still better than FMJ but not by much. Definitely not worth the price...

Go here to see what I mean.....

https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?13776-Speer-Gold-Dot-G2-147-grain-PT-9mm/page25...

You can go back to the previous pages where it was said that it was recalled, and then you can see on this page what it is now coming in....

YMMV but I think I got the shaft. I am going to test it in some Gel, but I am thinking since the head stamp is 14 that this is ammo from BAD lots and is range fodder.....

bummer. Still this is good to mix HP ammo into your training and for testing mags etc. Expensive but might be your only silver lining

This does not look like GDHP (which is a bonded-core bullet)? It's a bullet that I've never seen before and can't find info on. What is it?

Gold Dot G2

Yup G2, it is 14 head stamp, the stuff that was recalled due to expansion issues in soft tissue. I now have expensive range fodder.

Unless you NEED bonded bullets, pass... this is luke warm at best.. 50 round boxes of speer golds in the 147 flavor can be had @ > 520$ per 1000. Just have to be patient and wait until they are back in stock..

Or buy HSTs for 26 bucks/50

50 cents a round? Who knows how old & what condition stored in, why traded in?

Traded in because it was recalled and not fit for DUTY use. Has inconsistent expansion. This is the early G2 stuff.

Manufacture date is 2014 and 2015. This ammo is AS NEW. I can promise that the condition will surpass your expectations.

On why did the department trade it in; departments switch manufactures of their gear all the time. Weather it is switching from Sig to Glock, Safariland to Bianchi, Speer to Federal; they change all the time. (Maybe a lil tax payer waste here) They trade in ammo, guns and gear so that all the money goes back into the department. If the "sell" it, usually the money goes into the municipal general fund.

Indeed, and when you get a commander in chief that decides that that every Dept. of Education employee or agent needs 17 million bullets per employee, at the end of the day, the ammo is surplused to LEO's or wholesalers, who then resell them to the general public.

Barak is the greatest gun salesman that ever lived, and his war on guns he tried to win by shorttailing the supply chain with his ambitious 750million to a billion rounds that were effectively taken off the market, resulting in panic buying and hoarding, which led to the great ammo shortage of 2012

For a President that went to Harvard to specialize in congressional law, he's an embarrassment as he willfully and knowingly has stepped on the very constitution he swore to uphold.

My personal opinion is he is playing games and may have told his daughters he is going to remove guns from law abiding citizens for the girls Christmas present. Why not? he has no use for firearms, he and his family will be protected by the secret service, forever.
