LMAO, I go to buy one of these to drop it 5' to test Nitecores claims and got this notice from B&H.

"Please note: Online ordering is unavailable until Saturday 9:15 PM EDT (in 8 hour(s) and 58 minutes). Feel free to browse our site and add items to your cart or wishlist. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patronage"

Years ago a company got under my skin and they made some BS claims, I bought numerous samples of this product to prove they were lying. I had it sent out to one of the most prestige's laboratories in the USA, tested by multiple PH'ds. It cost a lot of cash, but I forced a recall. To test this will cost $30

...If I could just order lol. I'll make a video to show you how great Nitecore lights are, stay tuned.

I think it's just Shabbat, that would explain why online orders are not accepted right now. Must be Orthodox.

I strongly disagree with those that claim Nitecore lights are decent,, they are Chinese made garbage that cannot hold a candle to Surefire and other higher end lights. Want proof they are pieces of shit?

I own(ed) THREE Nitecore flashlights, Their flagship at the time, the SRT07 and SRT6 with magnetic control ring, which is the ONLY reason I bought them to begin with, and a EC-2.

The EC2 dropped from my bedstand to my carpet, roughly 20" That fall killed the EC2. Nitecores authorized merchant told me, despite being in the warranty window that I had to RMA it on my dime to CHINA. -CHINA-

(Despite me buying it from a USA based authorized Nitecore dealer.)

So I did and weeks later, direct from China was my RMA replacement. The same day the light broke. This time I threw it in the garbage can. The EC2 obviously is not a good light, but it wasn't their flagship light & not a $100+ light so I just shook my head and moved on.

My SRT7 doesn't leave the house, its in my laundry room in a wall mount emergency cradle. Well for no apparent reason the primary LED failed, but the RGB (red green, blue) backup LEDs worked. This light, despite it being $150 just failed with maybe an hours worth of service in total. Guess what? Again another authorized Nitecore vendor would not accept Nitecores RMA, and I was told I would have to mail it back to Nitecore in CHINA.

I was not going to mail a $150 flashlight within its warranty to China, the merchant, didn't even want to listen to Nitecore themselves, and instead 1st said I never bought it from him, so I gave him his receipt.. This went on and on. Ultimately the merchant gave in and weeks later I got a new replacement SRT7.

They suck and are built poorly and I challenge ANY Nitecore owner to take a Surefire flashlight, and pick it up, let it roll off your fingers at a height of 3' so it lands sideways on concrete or hard surface, I say let it land sideways to not damage the lens. Guarantee you a Surefire can handle that fall.

Now take a Nitecore and instead of 3', cut that distance in half and see if the light can survive a fall from 15" onto a hard surface, it WILL NOT survive shock, the EC2 failed landing on carpet, that's unacceptable.

Nightcore lights are utter shit and are overpriced. The control ring technology is awesome, but that's not enough to overlook their fragile nature.

I used to believe Nitecore lights were good, but that thinking was wrong. They are anything but.
EDIT- PS I only use Surefire Cr123 primaries and $20 Samsung 18650 rechargeables, and when I use them I don't come close to hitting the thermal ceiling..

One last thing, Nightcore claims this light can withstand a fall from 5' I view that claim to be utter BS

I too am sorry that Crabbysam had a bad experience with Nitecore, but I am a more than satisfied owner of an EC20. And while I don't make a habit of spiking my flashlight on the ground, I guess I could buy almost 10 of these for the price of the lumen comparable Surefire PX3 Fury and just throw one in the trash every time I drop it. I own some Surefires also and they are built like tanks, but even on my own admission as an owner, you are mostly paying for a name. No justifiable reason for them to be 10X the cost of others. I'm buying a handful of these for graduation gifts.

Three different Nitecore flashlights, one rolling off a nightstand onto carpet is what I wrote. Someday your Nitecore will accidently drop, when it does and it doesn't work, I told you so.

PS You cannot buy ten Nitecores SRT7 for the cost of one Surefire PX3

Try TWO, and the Surefire wont break if it rolls off a nightstand onto a carpeted surface.

Who said anything about a Nitecore SRT7? I was talking about buying about 10 of THESE (you know, the flashlight we are discussing) for the price of a Surefire's lumen comparable torch, the PX3 Fury. (8.33333 to be exact compared to MSRP. Pardon my hyperbole.)

My point was that if Nitecores FLAGSHIP model fails for no apparent reason, I'm pretty sure its safe to assume this $30 version is even less reliable.

Go ahead, let it roll off your table and see how great it is. Roll not spike.

Dude, calm down. You have about 5 people on here talking about positive experiences with Nitecore and you trying your best to convince them to hate them. I appreciate you sharing your horror story, but my experience has not been the same and this is a great deal. Based on my Nitecore experience I was not reluctant at all to place my order on these and I will be giving them out as awesome grad gifts.

To make the best decision possible, one should research the good and the bad. If one buys any Nitecore light, if you take away anything that I've said, simply remember this: -Don't drop your Nitecore-

Matter of fact, I'm going to buy this light and drop it from 5', as Nitecore says it can survive a 5' fall.

My money says it will break. IF it doesn't I'll eat crow, but I'm not worried, because their products and support are sub par.

Good info. Hoping my new Nitecore lasts longer than those in your experience. At any point did you use any of these failed lights as a weapon mounted light or some other factor that might have contributed to the failure? If not, that's pretty weak. Also, not sure what the deal is with Surefire so you might be a good person to ask. Their lights price out at roughly 4X the cost of comparable lights in my recent research. I do have an older Surefire G2 that has been sitting in a drawer for years in favor of several better lights that I own. May be comparing apples to oranges with that old incandescent light but in your opinion crabbysam, do the modern equivalents really justify the higher premium? If so, how?

Sentry,

Although I did buy the Nitecore pressure pad to mate with either the SRT7 or SRT6 I own, after three different Nitecore lights failed on me, there was no chance I was putting a Nitecore flashlight on a rifle.

Part of the reason why is also the SRT7 and SRT6's Nitecore rotary magnetic bezel, it would not hold up to heavy recoil. I've seen this, but didn't try it with mine. After the SRT7 failed for no reason at all. I retired all my Nitecore lights as they cannot be relied on when you need them, and Nitecore's warranty is a joke and a half.

I had to mail two of them to China to get the RMA. I can assure you, I'll never give Nitecore another cent.

I have a lot of experience with duty flashlights and retired Army, trust me, these lights are not reliable. Three Nitecore flashlights have failed me. That's three strikes and they wont get another, their out.

Well i have't tried drop test, but comparing my Surefire Nitro which heats up so fast ( about 5 to 8 min) Nitecore held up pretty good on heat dissipation during hog hunt's.
Sorry to hear that it you have some negative experience, but for almost 1 year have't had any on mine ..
Also i use Sure fire CR123's

No it does not comes with any batteries, i have Nitecore and Fenix PD 35 both are exceptionally well made a whole lot brighter than my Surefire Nitro
also check out batteryjunction.com they usually have CR 123's for $20 for 12.

Seems like a great deal. I literally just received my foursevens Quark QP2a-X Tactical late last week and was impressed with the 336 lumens from the ordinary 2AA cells. Of course, paid more than twice what this light costs. Had I not just bought that light, I'd probably be in for 2 of these but I'm in for 1. I didn't need to use the discount code to get free saver shipping though. Didn't actually see where to enter a code anyway. Looking forward to receiving this 960 lumen skin blisterer!

Batteries are not included. Sounds like it will accept either 2xCR123s or 1x18650 LiIon.

These are bad A little lights. About the size of a cigar and will light up the world.... I am a flashlight junkie and have Streamlights, Surefires, Fenix, and others. Nitecores hold their own with anyone and are not China made junk. Fantastic deal.

One of the best i have used on my PSA - AR for hog hunting. 2 CR123 batteries still got plenty of lumens left.
