If memory serves me correctly and based on the research I did before ordering mine a few years ago - this is a Cabela's exclusive version of the VX-2. I enjoy mine VERY much, and I would absolutely not hesitate to buy another if/when I need one.
Edit: Found the forum post that supposedly has the correct information... VX-1 and Cabela's exclusive.
"The Leupold® American Marksman 3-9x40 fits in the VX-1 line of scopes. This is a Cabela's exclusive rifle scope and it was introduced the last week of July 2017."
Thanks, I may look to pick up a couple this weekend then for future use on a Winchester Model 100 and 88 in .308
I doubt you’ll regret it. I sure don’t.
All of the high end scope manufacturers gets their glass from Japan. The scope body may be designed/ made in USA but not the glass.
Uhh, no.
Most mid range (Vortex, Nikon, Weaver, Burris, Super Sniper, etc) have lenses made in the Philippines
Swarovski makes their own glass (swarovski crystal anyone?).
Leica, Zeiss, Hensoldt, Schmidt and Bender, IOR Valdada, and a few other true high end scopes use Schott glass from Germany.
Leupold high end scopes have american made glass, not sure about the lower end ones.
Still waiting for Hassleblad to start making scopes.
Get a Nikon prostaff 3-9x40.
Cheaper and comes with lifetime warranty.
Glass is very clear too.
Nikon simply makes glass related stuffs better.
USA isn’t strong in optic industry anyway.
Nikon glass doesn’t even compare to Leupold's. I’ve had several Nikon scopes low end and high end & Leupold's low end rifleman series is hands down better on clarity. downbetterin clarity
Leupold is in Oregon. No one manufactures their glass in the USA. iirc, the high end glass is purchased from Japan for the whole industry. Then the scope body is machined in the USA.
This scope appears to be a Cabelas exclusive. It is basically a VX-1. The eyebox is very forgiving. Resetable turrets would be nice. These turrets do well in the box test and have a positive feel.
This is a no brainer with the cabelas gift cards.
Says on the box: designed, machined, and assembled in the USA. I believe this is true for all leupold products. My only complaint is that you can not adjust the zero on the turrets once you have sighted in.
How does this compare to the VX-1, VX-2, and the newer Freedom line?
