Ok seems like the rush it's getting over I live ln Wisconsin I just went to a gun show " bty is going tru tomorrow at 3 pm " and they have all they have kind of rifles aks, ars, for a really reasonable price I was shock colt at for a 1000 bucks dpms for 700 piles of mags it was almost like in the old times this is happening in west bend Wisconsin. The show is running tru bod n Rocco I think

Actually, i'd rather this setup instead of their cheap commercial tube stock. This I can build as a pistol or rifle, with a good 7075 mil-spec stock, or full rifle stock, whatever I want. Drop the price a little more and I may bite on one or two.

I really like the UTG listed on this site. Got mine for $55 including shipping. Not great, but for the price, really good.
My friend has one he made into a pistol. With aluminum mags it is really lightweight.

I bought one from this dealer with good service. I drilled a 9mm upper receiver for gas impingement as I am right handed and have no need for the case deflector and see no need for a forward assist in my build. WIth a 14.7" barrel, UTG M4 military style (aka Mil-Spec) stock as well as handguard and aluminum magazines this made a relatively inexpensive (for the times) lightweight build and I am very happy. I am pleased and in for just a tad over $800 and 400 rounds, so far. If Bolt Carrier Groups and ammo would become more prevalent and reasonable...

PS: I doubt if I will go back to forged aluminum lower receivers for anything that is not "Life On The Line" builds.

I picked up a stripped one for $79 shipped. its my first AR build. I think prices will go down but not like they used to be. as long as people keep clearing inventory in a matter of minutes, why drop prices?.

I was skeptical about polymer, but so was everyone when glock started putting on their frames. now its a standard.
PLUS. people need to stop acting like they are taking their rifles to Afghanistan for war. Many have shown that this lower is more than capable of handling what 99.9% of us are going to use it for. shooting at the range. LIFE ON THE LINE BUILD??? HA... guns are mechanical and ANY one of them can fail. however one part i would change is the hammer. over time ( and a lot of it) it will deform. another down side is the tripper guard is fixed. again. how ofteen would u shoot your AR with thinsulates on?

I really like my "toy" gun.
If it should ever come to need for a huge demand such as a real war, I am willing to bet the government would quickly adopt a polymer such as this due to the little time and resources it takes to crank them out.
My "Life on the Line" build started with an 80% forged lower, has a true forged receiver extension with rolled threads so I can bust open "watermelons" as well as A2 stock, upper receiver, and barrel (in case I really do have to pry) as well as a real "Mil-Spec" M16 bolt and carrier. Did I miss something..?

what are you going to be prying on wit your AR? did I miss something? if you have a loaded rifle and your "life on the line" are you saying you are going to try to swing it at your aggressor and smash him like a watermelon?
lets be realistic about what they rifles are really being used for! your type scare me. just cant wait for a reason to be "tactical". i bet you have space on your hand guard because it filled with accessories.

I dunno about OPs use, but part of the manual of arms for clearing jams can be to but stroke the rifle, very rarely resulting in shearing the polymer lower where the buffer extension meets the receiver. This is a known issue even with aluminum, made worse with the polymer. Im happy with my NFA, I know its strengths and limitations, so im cool with that risk vs benefit of weight. But then, my SHTF/wilderness/survival rifle is an AK pattern.

I call mine a "toy" gun, but like a lot. And similiar to you, I realize it may have limitations. But in all practically, for my intents and purposes, it should serve me well.
The AK is a great pattern for when the SHTF. Have you tried building from an 80% AK receiver flat?

No, too many specialized tools required, and kit prices are through the roof lately. Its also harder lately to find any kits with original Combloc barrels, and US barrels just arent there yet. However, if we see registration legislation pass like they have on the table, I may reassess the value of investing in those tools and kits. Possibly a local group buy.

I hunt black bear in the mountains and from experience always carry a map, compass, lighter, whistle, water, flashlight and cell phone. Any gun going into those mountains has to be tough. I wouldn't take my "toy" or any fancy stocked gun in there as rough spills sometimes happen. Around the camp fires we all talk about hunting, different guns, etc and agree with our buddy, a former marine, that a good test of a stock would be its ability to smash a watermelon. Plus, when a gun is unable to fire, such as being out of ammo, it becomes a club and measure of last resort as it is already in your hands. Once, I had to use my muzzle loader as a pry bar after slipping while crossing a stream and ending up in three feet of water with my foot stuck between a rock and the log on which I had just been walking. In that situation, my "toy" gun would not have faired well. I am no prepper, but real life experiences taught me if my life is on the line, everything, including my gun has to be as tough as possible.
So don't be scared, it will be all right. I haven't anything tactical, such as bullet proof vests, night vision goggles, etc. The only picitinny rails on my "toy" are located on the upper receiver and gas block where I have a flashlight, laser, and a red dot. The same stuff is on my A2 sans red dot.
Built tough on personal experiences.

You shouldn't have to explain to anyone why you choose to build your rifles the way you do. You can own as much body armor, night vision goggles, and tactical accessories as you want. This is still America and at the moment still a free country. I'd tell anyone that judged the way I handle my business to fuck off and maybe he should be scared. Who gets to decide where the line is between being prepared for special circumstances and being paranoid?

i tell anyone that butts into convos to fuck off. how about that. this was very civil until your stuck your shitty little noise into grown folks business. He hunts bear. whether thats true or not i guess that justifies building a tougher rifle. I think i saw one of your videos on youtube open carry an AR on the streets waiting for police to show up. normal people keep theirs at home. so tell me what "special circumstances" you will come upon in everyday life that requires your AR? and not just any one built beyond the specs of military and law enforcement (minus full auto)

First of all I didn't mention any names but if you want to start something little man we can. Grown folks huh? Is 37 grown enough for ya asshole? Did he ask for your opinion or advice on how he should build his rifles, what he can use them for or what he can and can't own? You were hardly being civil. You were basically be snarky about HIS decisions. I have no videos on Youtube but I do have an account under the same name. Maybe you saw a comment directed to another sissy bitch such as yourself. I don't have any special circumstance yet but at the rate this country is devolving, I may have one soon and you better believe my firearms are going to be as good or better than anyone who may be opposing me. You keep you guns hidden safe and sound in your home. Don't let anyone know about them or you beliefs in being able to own them. You'll lose them soon enough. Oh and by the way, learn how to capitalize the first letter of your sentences you ignorant douche.

i never really understood this internet rage the people such as yourself exhibit. getting all worked up because of something I said. its rather sad actually. I figure i can go a few more rounds though.

hahaha, i will start as many sentences as i want without caps. I DIDNT ASK FOR YOUR OPINION on how to punctuate my sentences. continue open carrying your rifle jerkoff. and i wasnt seriously saying it was you in the video i was merely implying your are OBVIOUSLY the type that would walk around with an AR seeking LEO attention with your camera. truth hurts.

This is no "internet rage" as you put it. I would have called you out standing directly in front of you. If you think this is rage, you need to get out more. You come across as this arrogant prick that thinks he knows everything including what's best for people other than yourself. I have never open carried any firearm. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't if the circumstances called for it. As for your poor writing and grammar, it just makes you look ignorant and lazy. It's not my opinion. It's stuff you should have learned in school but you were probably too busy sleeping. Work on it and maybe someone will take you seriously. I'm done wasting my time on you and besides this isn't the place. mgosr said everything I was thinking anyway and probably said it better. Later punk.

parrowman, you started something with your statement "your type scare me. just cant wait for a reason to be "tactical". i bet you have space on your hand guard because it filled with accessories." It showed narrow mindedness. It demonstrated your lack of experience understanding people live in, and are exposed to, different environments. Some of those environments lend credence towards needing the sort of equipment on which to trust one's life. I carry a .44 Magnum revolver with me every single time I go into the mountains. A .357 will probably take down anything I might come across. But, if for some reason I come across a 600 lb. black bear with a bad attitude, I want as much as I can get that is better than probably. It cost $100 more to buy my Super Blackhawk, but I consider it money very well spent. The same holds true of my "Life on the Line" A2 rifle. I didn't have to get the best lower receiver extension or be sure the buttstock was Zytel, but it didn't cost much more to add that little bit of extra confidence. It is my life and I will protect it as I see fit, including starting with an 80% lower receiver so it didn't need a number or record.

What really pisses me off, you illiterate democrat, is your statement "He hunts bear. whether thats true or not..." "True or not..."? Screw you! You repeatedly come across as an illegitimate, grammatically challenged, panty waist cowering in some corner. Rather than admit to yourself and try to learn to accept there is more world than your little mind can comprehend, you close your eyes and mind while pointing your finger like a little girl telling others "your type scare me." The best part of you ran down your mother's butt and left a brown stain on the sheet.

You need to stay indoors where you can cower and out of comment groups where your hasty accusations and prejudiced opinions don't belong. And maybe someday, somehow, someone will take pity upon you and expose you to a part of the world where you will need to grow a pair. And to understanding the importance of the 2nd Amendment.

ok i admit. im a loser. happy now? why waste time with me. i could be 11. poor grammar remember? love ya guys. i think im going to go open carry somewhere borderline to get some attention. Im sure there will be no weapons ban then. First off. this a America. The constitution became a joke when they started amending it the first place. all that does it give people the right to think they can keep changing things they dont like. and they will if they want to. you cant even buy a handgun in NJ without having a CCW which is impossible to get. and you want to start amendment talks. the constitution was amended and the amendments will be amended, if not they will be circumvented, all these local and state ordinances about "except law enforcement" and shit like that are perfect example. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. but still i can have a officer which black out tinted windows stop me and write a ticket for 20% tints. or an officer on a harley stop me for loud exhaust. this is America people. not exactly one the greatest places to live on the earth. Stop thinking that amendments will save your ass because the government has shown several times that dont they give a shit about the bedrock principles that our fore-fathers set and do what ever they want tot get whatever they want, Tell me i am wrong.

BTW. I dont give a flying donkey fuck if you hunt black bear. people lie on the internet everyday second. why should i care or believe anything you say. i dont know you guys. i do know it because of people like you that gun rights are being threatened. you guys just strike me as the type that would end up on the news. how was my grammar this time? did i pass? BTW cracker, the guy you are defending is an ignorant prick as well. he didnt capitalize quite a bit in that last post.

I know I said I was done and I have no idea if you'll read this, but I didn't want to leave on the note I did. Now that it seems to be sinking in that you don't know everything, let me try to help some. Please don't take this as being preachy and I’m not claiming to know everything myself. We all can learn until the moment we die. I'm just trying to impart some wisdom.

Going off of your tint and exhaust comments, I'll assume you're fairly young. I've been there. I've gotten my share of tickets for "illegal" tint and been hassled for loud exhaust, loud music/bass, obscured plates, you name it. At some point, you'll realize that petty shit doesn't matter. Life is bigger than you, your hometown and your local police force. Pick your battles. I think we both believe the 2nd Amendment is worth fighting for. You seem to have some good anger, and yes, anger can be good as long as it’s directed and used in the correct way. Emotion is good. Lack of emotion means you don’t care and either nothing gets done or the wrong things get done.

It’s extremely hard for one person to make change happen. That’s why you see people band together when they believe in a common cause. If that cause happens to be gun rights related, of course you’re going to have some strong and possibly heated opinions. Open carry, in some form, is still legal in most states and some people are going to choose that display to get a message across. It’s not these people that are the cause of the legislation and debates. It’s the mentally deranged and the cowards who walk into schools, malls, and theaters and start shooting indiscriminately. Those people deserve no mercy. Most of the people at the pro-gun demonstrations and rallies are going to be your average gun owning, law abiding citizen that has the balls to show up and let their voice be heard and their numbers be seen.

Gun owners need to stand together strong and build each other up, not tear each other down. That’s why I’m back and writing this. Together we stand, divided we fall. Educate yourself. Read everything you can. Learn history and how others have lost, gained, and retained freedoms in the past. Study revolutions of the past. This is a young country. There are over two thousand years of history to learn from. The last thing a shady government wants is a smart, informed, motivated, and organized populace. The United States, despite its corrupt government and its other faults, is still the greatest country on Earth. We, as citizens, just have to make sure that it gets back on track. If you live in a “communist” state, vote and get like minded people to do the same. Go grassroots and organize. If you hate your state’s laws and you’ve done everything you can to change them, move away if/when you are able.

I wasn’t defending one particular person per say, but a principle, an idea. Be a proud, upright gun owner and activist. We need all we can get. Be smart, be safe and prepare for whatever may happen. Peace.

P.S.
One last poke at you. If you’ll notice, he only didn’t capitalize in the quote from you. ; )
