Whether you're dropping birds or busting clays, the CZ 712 G2 Semiautomatic Shotgun delivers the performance you need. Long recoil spring in the butt of the stock simplifies assembly and allows the shotgun to cycle 2-3/4” to 3” shells. Terrible gun, failure to feed second round, sent to CZ, deemed unfixable by cz, they sent a new one to cabelas. Told them I just want my money back and I was happy only then..

Did you have the current gun or the first generation? Thank you.

My buddy used his new CZ 712 on our snow goose hunt last month. It performed great and had a nice fit and feel.

I had one of these, as I typical try to pick up any CZ I can. I was pretty disappointed in it, and it was one of the few CZs I was happy to get rid of. I could not get it to cycle reliably even after putting a lot of field loads through it. I was surprised CZ would put their name on something of inferior quality, as just about any other CZ I have had has been top notch. Maybe this new generation is better, bit they have lost me on the 712.

Racecar, did you call CZ and give their service dept a chance to make it right?

Wrong. The originals have bad reviews. These don't have many reviews as they are newer.

I looked at this gun at cabelas in wood and bronze ceracote and it seemed very nice. nice finish. nice balance. the only thing I didn't like was how small the slide pull was.

I own the new version. The g2. It is far superior to the original. I have had no failures with this shotgun.

Did you own both, and if so, what differences were there?

From my understanding the o-ring setup is different. Also the Barrel is held on the magazine differently. I can only speak from my experiences but I just put 200 failure free rounds through the gun on thanksgiving. My best friend who is an avid waterfowl hunter was also extremely impressed with the setup. He come from a versamax waterfowl pro and a400. Two high end sporting guns.

Yes, I owned the 712 with long and short 2 barrel combo. This is NOT actually made by CZ. It's made by a turkish manufacturer and they license the name. Bad bad bad attention to detail, didn't fully blue or paint a lot of corners especially along the vent rib, had rust developing there. Mechanism was solid but still unreliable. FTEject, FTExtract, FTFeed on several ammo types. I'm a CZ fanboy but I sold it at a loss and went with a Mossberg 930.
