I used my gift card (20% off). I guess I can return it if I can't see shit at 100 yards. I am hoping I can also use it at my 200/300 yard range

Owned it for a few months. Replaced a simmons blazer 20-60. Was brighter, better edge to edge, smoother zoom, sunshade, better focus knob, 90 deg rotation and $10 cheaper.

I use it sparling for any distance over 300 yards, but can PID 1/2-sized man targets effectively out to 1350 yds with a little concentration FWIW. This is not an Optolyth or Swarovski, so don't expect that level of form or function.

Is this a good spotting scope

If its not, simply return it. These are closeouts since the Cavelry line of spotting scopes has been discontinued. I ordered one so we'll see.

Is this a good deal? Celestron is a good brand, but this seems to be a 'house' model as no one else sells it.

Divide the ocular diameter by the power to get the aperture: even at the lowest setting of 25x, this is only going to have ~3mm aperture, so it's going to be pretty dim [everyone is different, but figure on an overcast day your pupils will be dilated around 4mm.] At the high setting, this is only usable in bright sunlight [<1mm aperture.] Now, if they had a more useful range of 10x-30x, then you could use this at night [eyes fully dilated at the lowest power] to the middle of a bright day.

Brands get sold and change, so they aren't so reliable anymore. I noted this was a Father's Day special, and they must still have some.
I would check online to see if it is in stock at your local store, go to the store and see if you can look through it. If it's bright and clear at your target distance, the price is right.

The local store is out. Cabelas has a generous return policy, but I'll wait until the Fall sales- there is a celestron I've got my eye on that I've seen in person that works.
