They had this deal for like 6 months. Looks like they finally ran out.

Good price, especially if you can get discounted gift cards on eBay. Last I checked, you can get some for $82 ($100 GC value).

And at some locations, you only get charged $5 for transfer costs if you pickup in-store.

This is skeletonized https://www.weaponsmart.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/w/e/weaponsmart-3306.jpg...

This product is just a $30 lower, $30 upper, $50 barrel, and $30 worth of parts. You can piece it together here on deals for $10 less.

Picked this up yesterday got a hell of a deal. Black Friday I purchased a vortex strike eagle 1x8 and cantilever mount with gift cards from work for "atta-boys", then Cabelas gave me $75 gift card and a $20 off of a purchase of $150 Or more. All in all got this Anderson skeleton kit for $58.68. Haha. They have a nickel boron BCG for $110, low pro gas $12, lower parts kit >40....all in all sub $300 build for an AR that will work just fine.

So I ordered the Federal 1,625 rounds 22LR Cabelas had for the Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale. I ordered Thursday. They continued to advertise the special all day the next day. Several days later, they cancel my order. I call, and they say that they oversold them and that their website inventory is not "real time" WTF? Then, they have the individual packs of 325 rds available, but won't make good by giving me these at the price I ordered them for. I buy a lot of ammo and a fair amount of guns, and I am officially done with these overpriced bastards.

Give it a few days and a few 20% gift cards

People keep referring to 20% gift cards & I've never seen any (only 18%), where are they?

Picked one up for a parts bin build. Picked up a good steel block for 12 bucks. Everything else will come out of the bin.

I am thinking of building an AR pistol. Is it worth buying this kit knowing that I won't be using some of the parts (e.g. barrel, cheap gas block...)?

No. You would be buying an upper and a lower for 150 bucks.

Thanks. Also in terms of quality. Are PSA lower upper better than Anderson? How about Stag or Ruger ar556 lower?

Anderson parts are a great value for the quality.Anderson makes the lowers for double star, then double star engraved there name on it...

This seems like a better deal than it actually is.
Count on spending 12 bucks to replace that shitty aluminum gas block with a steel one.

Not a bad deal for a bare-bones build, but you can do better.

Thinking about buying this since I have alot of left over ar parts in my parts bin. Frankenstein AR!!!!

Well so much for that. Just tried picking one up in Maine (live in NH, no Cabelas in NH).
Background check denied because they can’t sell a receiver to out of state citizen. First time I heard of this. They can sell a complete AR but not a receiver because “the caliber can be changed”. Crappy if you ask me since this comes with the upper and the barrel, specifically for .223.

Completely legal in NH. Whatever.
Would be nice if they could do transfers to Bass Pro since BP owns Cabelas now, but nope.

Unless the lower is an 80% you have to be a legal resident of the state in which you are purchasing anything other than a 80% lower. If it is not an 80% lower and fully machined to accept all working internals it is considered a firearm and you must go about the legal parameters in which to obtain that lower.
There is no reason that they cannot ship it to an FFL dealer in your state of residence it will cost you a certain amount for that dealer to receive it for you.
As long as you meet the requirements to purchase a firearm and your state and the firearm or lower that you are purchasing also means the requirements of the state that you reside in..

They were wrong about the reason, probably didn’t understand why so just made it up. Reason you can’t buy just a lower out of state, is it can be made into a pistol, which can only be purchased instate. Thus an assembled rifle you can purchase, or a lower with a stock already attached since that is officially a rifle, not a plain lower

This is the correct reason. Pistols can only be sold in state, or transferred though and out of state FFL. A stripped lower can be built as either. Typical gun store employee, doesn't know shit but acts as The Authority on Everything.

Im from MN, went to a gun store in WI and was told I can buy a complete AR but I can not buy just a lower. I had the same thought as you

Trying to figure out what else I need here.
LPK
Stock Kit
BCG & CH
Handguard
Muzzle device
Forward assist & dust cover

Am I missing anything?

And a handguard. But remember the gas block that comes with this is not a low pro. The gas block will go in front of handguard

If you use a Cabelas gift card you purchased for $80 for $100 in credit, this brings the cost down to $130 plus tax. With mil spec parts, you could probably put together the rifle for right around $300 less magazine and optic or sights. Not a bad deal for a decent rifle.

Been mulling over purchasing this for a while. I priced it out using one $80/$100 Gift Card with a free float rail (cheap one), low pro steel gas block, magpul fixed carbine rifle stock, magpul moe grip, and all other parts necessary to complete the rifle and I come up with $300 on the nose including tax. If I use my Cabelas Visa bucks it'll cost me $258, very tempting but I really do not need another .556 AR-15...

Also buy those gift cards thru raise.
And buy this kit thru active junky.
At least another $10 savings.

This isn't a bad price actually if you're cheap. Now hear me out. Pay with ebay purchased gift cards for an additional 20% off.

You'll get the kit for 184.00
KG lower parts kit. 32.00
Upper parts kit. 15.00
A2 birdcage. 10.00
PSA BCG (sale price) 60.00
Cheap m4 handguard 10.00
Buffer/spring/stock. 40.00

351.00 total. I'd probably throw that shitty aluminum gas block out I favor of a steel one, but that would only be another 12 bucks or so, and optional.

If you do the leg work, that's a decent, basic plinker for 350 bucks. Not bad.
