Had the privilege of handling one of these at the gun shop while picking up my FN FNS and I have to admit, I was seriously impressed with the Ruger American. My biggest issue with the gun however is it will not accept SR magazines. Since I already own a SR9C it have been nice to get a full sized pistol who's mags I could use in both. Other than that, this gun is AWESOME! While I've never shot one the quality and feel are right up there with the FN. If it shoots anything like the SR series it'll definitely be a force to reckon with.

SR9 was a hidden gem (I own 4 for different reasons), this is only a southpaw gem for the release... Nothing else is a must-have on this SIG clone :D

Time to hoard mags like going out of style...

WOW! It's a SR22 in 9mm for a $540 total investment!!!!! (tax, shipping & transfer)

No thanks! For that kind of money you can get into better platforms that have a proven track record, good aftermarket accessory availability, probably cheaper mags that are easy to find anywhere and are WAY more Sexy Looking! ...don't get me wrong...I love my SR22 handgun but this SR22 in 9mm isn't doing it for me at all....I won't be spending my hard earned money on this when so many other options are out there...n imagine the possibilities if you tossed another $60-100 in the pot...WAY "MoreBetter" Options! ...at this price, for what it is, Ruger could have at least thrown in a coupon for a reach around! Haha

...n I'm not talking about them reaching around for your wallet with that stupid 20% off "coupon" that comes with every new gun trying to get you to STILL over pay and get price gouged at ShopRuger dot com lol

The thumbs down on this gun are a surprise. This gun will be a hit and sell well.

I like it. I liked the Ruger SR9 until I fired one, so I hope this one turns out better. The chamfering and angles look good to me. If they dumped the mag disconnect and stupid little manual safeties it's already an improvement.

As a Ruger user, all I have to say is there had better be a d**ned good reason why they couldn't make these compatible with SR magazines. They have the same capacities (17 for 9mm, 10 for .45). It's a slap to the face of current SR owners who are already invested in mags.

It looks a lot like the Canik55 TPSA V2. For about $50.00 more you could get a real P99/POW.

Why are all Ruger products so ugly and cheap looking?

Looks good to me. adjustable sights, ambidextrous slide lock & mag release... fairly sleek except for the take-down lever. Seems to have good grip panel options also. I imagine if they are taking on the polymer big boys (M&P, Glock, XD, Walther, etc.) they must have put a lot of thought and R&D into it. Will be interesting to see the reviews. Still, the price of it for a "new entry" polymer is going to keep a lot of people in the other companies camps until it's a proven commodity.

its official.. the 40 S&W is dead! When a manufacturer doesnt even release a 40 in their initial release date.

Not saying they wont ever release it, but it seems that 9mm and 45 have officially kicked the 40s&w to the curb.

Ruger should be officially dead.

Just like they did in 2007 with the SR series?

damn shame really... I've never understood all the complaints about recoil in .40 ,especially in a full size.. Plus its a great cartridge for pistol caliber carbines... To each his own but .40 s&w will remain my go to round !!

Looks to me like they took the SR, made it bigger, uglier and more expensive. At least the trigger sounds promising.
