Buy mountain house. It’s good for 25 years and tastes amazing. You’ll actually eat the stuff at some point in your life. It’s not just for emergencies.

Assuming you can get some at the stores. Corona wave 2 coming soon. There was a time I would have agreed with you, but then I did research. Your storage will be moldy and unusable in 6 months to a year. This food stores for 30 years because of their specialized sterile preparation process and vacuum sealing. That's why it costs a bit more.

Huh? You can EASILY store your own dry goods with cheap food storage bags, oxygen absorbers, and an iron to seal the bags. Bonus points for using a vacuum sealer or purging the bags with nitrogen.

Expanding on what KillaGorilla stated: is food "moldy and unusable" in your cupboard after "6 months to a year?" Why does it need to last for 20-30 years?!? You could store and rotate your stock every 3-5 years if you were really worried.

lol thats the dumbest shit i have heard today. its overpriced because idiots will buy it. vacuum sealing something does not make it sterile. most people myself included have beens and rice setting on the shelf right now thats well over 6 months or a year old and perfectly usable. assuming you dont water your pantry or keep your food in a sauna any tard can keep this type of long term good usable for yearrrrrrssssss.
