I was going to buy one at the sale price. When i contacted grabagun, they mentioned that I needed to contact a trust and my local chief? Does this sound normal? They treated me like I was trying to purchase a suppressor. They mentioned a $200 fee as well. Not a $5 tax stamp on its own. The process seems rather confusing and I'd like to think that grabagun isnt sharing the accurate information either. So I passed on the deal :(

I was also going to buy one. Grabagun told me the same thing. Someone in Grabagun is putting out false information. They should know better. Either give out the right info or shut up. It is a $5 stamp.

So we don't have to wait and because we can. Could you legally get a pgo Mossberg persuader( they have been pretty inexpensive) and put pistol stabilizing brace on to get the length in the back so you could take more off the barrel, even more then the Mossberg shockwave?!!

I've gotten the pgo 8shot persuader and would rather not cut off that barrel with the extended mag tube. So I thought about buying the mav88 deal that has the 18in and the field barrel. I called Mossberg they said mav88 uses the same M500 barrels. For $219 Mav88 with 2 barrels , A barrel alone is $70-$100+

Try to stay with me here, so basically switch the pgo persuaders barrel and extend mag tube to a mav88 or M500 then take their donated reg moss barrel and cut that one down instead! You would have different finishes, but a paint job would take care of that!

I emailed Marty from Shockwave Technologies about the shouldering of the pistol brace on a PGO Mossberg. He said their waiting for ATF's Q&A publication on the subject.

Any way they are a number of different set ups to do on the PGO firearms! I have the 590 shockwave already with the heavier barrel. So to do a 500 version with a shorter barrel and a pistol brace would be cool, and give you the 26.5 in overall length to NOT need the AOW stamp! And have two firearms for a little more than one! Even though this a good price compared to other companies.

Put a good green laser on the shockwave. That is all you need. The recoil on these babies are harsh, especially with the 3 inch magnum. I love those 3 inch magnum. You do not need to shoulder this dragon with this much fire power and a green laser.

ATF is running 350-380 days for class 3 stamp approvals. Be warned.

Why does it take a year to get a $5 stamp for an AOW?

Can we blame the "current administration" for this?

There is no reason for this. Pitiful.

Good price .... And then there's the 200 extortion fee from the atf

$5 stamp tax on this one.

What SuperAR said. AOWs are transferable with only a $5 tax stamp. The manufacturer has to pay the $200 fee, which is why the price of these probably won't ever be as low as a normal length Mossberg 500.
I wonder if they negotiate a lower fee for building them in bulk...

A qualified manufacturer does not pay the $200 tax on each gun( ATF 4.1.1). If you want to make an AOW from a virgin receiver, then you’re the maker and you’ll pay $200 tax

You are right. But it looks like quite a price drop here at $437. At Buds it still is $605. Someone told me that it takes 8 months to get the $5 stamp. Is this correct. What happens to the gun? Do they hold the gun for 6 months?

you have to have it sent to a local class 3 dealer on forum 3 this will take a month or 2 to clear until it can be shipped to your class 3 dealer then fill out forum 4 pay the tax stamp and the dealer keeps it until it clears they will receives the approved tax stamp and contact you

Haven't gone through the process before, but that is my understanding of it. Looks like the ATF's website is estimating 8.5 months right now.
The one at Bud's is the 590 which is the 'higher' capacity version (3 shell mag capacity instead on 2 on the 500). This one is about $30 cheaper than the original posting of $465. I'm so tempted, but I just can't justify the cash...

I think Buds gun is a 10 inch barrel. This is a 7 inch.

That too. The 590, for all intensive purposes, is the larger of the 2 AOW models available from Mossberg. Thus it's likely to always be more expensive than the 500.

The 500 and 590 are basically the same gun. The 590 is mainly military specs with a little thick chamber. All else is the same. The 500 is more versatile.

500 and 590 barrels are not interchangeable. 590 has a conventional mag tube like most pump shotguns pumpshotgunsshotgunsthaccan
