What's a good, budget LPK and slide for these?

New to P80s so apologize if this is a dumb question. Is the only reason for this is so you don't have to have a serialized firearm and go through an FFL? Looks like the costs to build one are almost the cost of a new gun.

Not the only reason, but a nice side benefit. Some of us just enjoy creating something for ourselves using the parts and colors we want to personalize however we want. It can also be easier in the current climate to build one than to find one in the stores. The sense of accomplishment you get when you build a fully functional and reliable pistol/rifle for yourself is pretty cool, too.

This is fundamentally the answer 99.9% of the time, but because of a couple of criminal assholes I don't expect these kind of kits to make it much longer. There's a ban bill in congress already, and if Biden wins we're fucked. Fed's won't quantify the number of these used in crimes, probably because it's statistically insignificant, but it's a growing "epidemic" according to the media.

@durkin
your website at checkout literally says "As of March 21st - Due to increased demand, regular orders are shipping in 10-20 business days. Expedited Shipping orders are shipping in 5-10 days." And Expedited shipping costs $20.00 extra.

Please define "fast shipping" LOL

We'll see how this order goes. I do wish they would offer the other colors for the same price, but at least the sale color is black and not pink or lavender or some crap like that.

Received today via USPS. 6 days from order to receipt. Not bad.

They included a Durkin Tactical koozie and decal with it. Nice touch.

Received shipping notification today via USPS. So far so good.

After shipping, it's roughly $5 less than the Brownells deal posted. This one's black and Brownells has Coyote as the only available color.

This right here is what should be listed on the deal page

The difference is Brownells has excellent customer service and stand by their products. Durkin is a shop full of scammers and liars that are mostly peddling overstock from aliexpress. I would rather pay more for the Brownells customer experience

ive never done the glock 80% lowers. Can you tell me how much milling and drilling are required on these? how do they compare work wise to the AR 80% lowers?
Interested. thanks!

These are a piece of cake compared to an AR lower. Can be done with nothing more than a dremel and hand drill in less than 30 minutes for someone that's done one of these before. Drill 3 holes in each side (same as an AR), remove a little bit of polymer off the top of the frame (slide rails) and cut out the "barrel seat" type area similar to a 1911 80%. Biggest difference is working with polymer.

Not sure if you're talking of a polymer or aluminum AR 80%, but these are still infinitely easier. Youtube videos galore.

Its ridiculously easy! WAY easier than an 80% ar. Total build time takes about an hour and a half.

I've not personally done it, but my buddies done several. For anyone that has a minimal tool knowledge it should just be a simple afternoon project. Some drill, not much mill.

An ar 80% is going to be much more time consuming, unless you have a proper machinists mill. Can be done with a hand router, but wayyy slower.

I just want to put a question out there. What are all of of us 2nd/ gun enthusiasts going to do when the gun grabbing figure out 80% are out there. What 80% 30 rd. Mags will be next? Not one inch

Could this be the end????
Of FFL transfers as we know them - especially for polymer guns? Seems like a manufacturer would have a more direct route to market by simply creating an 80% lower and building and selling "completion kits", apparently at 20% markup over the completed weapon.

That's first version with polymer rear rails. They're trying to get rid of their stock.

Not the best deal on here... tacticalblackoutgroup.com has them for $125.99 shipped. Cant beat that from what I've seen.

I've had two of the V1 models and both of the poly rails failed. The rest of the frame was solid. These shouldnt have any problema. Also, I don't recommend Lone Wolf slides or barrels to finish your build out. Although their customer service is great, I've had critical failures with both items. The chamber is too short causing the thoat to "grab" the projectile making clearing out a live round difficult (I've literally separated projectiles from the case leaving thr projectile lodged in the barrel). I've also experienced gouging of the slide there the disconnector rides. This causes enough friction that I was not getting reliable feeding. They've done their warranty work without problem but I just don't trust the parts enough to use again so they sit in my spare parts bin.

Good info, much appreciated. I'm into building AR and ak. I've never tried building a pistol. Roughly how much money would it cost to build something like this. 80% $140, threaded barrel $100, brownells rmr slide $220, I have no clue about the guts/trigger ????
Would it even be reliable, or am I better off getting a gen4 mos and just add the threaded barrel for a total of $670

Check out DisgruntledGunWorks.Net for some AR parts if you need. It's a side business I started a few years ago. I don't do much (actually virtually nothing) to advertise due to time restrictions of having another job and full time college.

Glad I had some info useful for you! Using all new parts, I can't see anyone having any less than $475 into a build. So minus the frame, slide, and barrel, you can get the remainder of the parts for around $150 assuming you stick with OEM parts. The one I built when the first iteration of these were initially released cost me around $900 but it also had a lot of upgrades such as the trigger, extended controls, night sights, and SS guide rod (which I don't recommend either). I highly encourage people to go with a Glock OEM slide and ask that they also consider an OEM barrel.
