Description

Born from the SOCOM PDW solicitation, the NEW Maxim Defense PDX 300 Blackout is designed to handle the fierce demands of the Tier 1 community. The PDX™ dominates close quarter encounters and achieves maximum energy on target. At just 18.75” in overall length, the PDX™ delivers groundbreaking power and performance in a subcompact platform.

At the heart of the PDX™ is our newly developed Maxim SCW™ PDW brace system. This patent-pending system cuts down the length of the brace to 4”. The integrated BCG with interchangeable buffer weights gives you maximum performance and versatility without sacrificing form and functionality. The PDX uses a Direct Impingement system.

The PDX™ is also equipped with newly invented Maxim HATEBRAKE™ muzzle booster. This patent-pending device significantly reduces recoil, decreases the flash signature, pushes gasses and concussion wave downrange away from the operator and improves overall performance in short barrel pistols and rifles.

If it's not a NATO round, it would be a boat anchor if/when SHTF

Agreed, but why use something this small for SHTF? Concealment has its purposes, but those purposes greatly diminish or have other available options if the S truly HTF. This has its purpose, and it's very likely not for what you're proposing.

this is bad ass but Id prefer a different caliber. Even just 5.56 or even 9mm. I think a 10mm would be sick!

5.56 would be an anemic fireball out of a 5.5” barrel. 9mm would be OK - 10mm would be better than 9mm. 300 Blackout is, without a doubt, the single best caliber to chamber a PDW in with a package this small.

My only concern about the 300bk is cost and availability of ammo. Dont misunderstand me, I realize ALL ammo is ridiculous right now so I am referring to "normal" times. Yes I agree about the 5.56 fireball although the right flash suppressor would help mitigate that issue. I do love the 9mm PDW's and would be my choice for this platform being sold here. 10mm would just be sick and fun to shoot. But again we run back into the ammo availability and cost issue again. So all scenarios have good and bad points. I also am not sure the price tag on this firearm is worth it with so many comparible PDW's on the market for half or less the asking price of this model. Its my opinion, I could build a similar or even better firearm for under $1300+$1500 with all the bells and whistles. Could build for $1000 and be just as good as anything else available.
This is only my opinion, I will respect yours and I only ask you do the same. Thanks!

Totally fair points and valid objections. I doubt many people would be relying on this for a SHTF situation, and honestly shouldn’t if they were planning on it. What it IS is an amazing PDW. If you were to price together all the parts exactly as this is set up, you’d be looking at a LOT of work to find everything for less than this, as-is. That’s not to say you couldn’t substitute a lot of parts and have something very similar assembled from other manufacturers stuff and end up spending less (maybe a lot less).

But, for what it is, it’s very well sorted, has exceptional parts, and actually has a decent price for what is included.
