Irritated that their stripped receivers are more expensive than their 80% lowers I decided to look around before I gave them any $. Glad I did. I just bought GHOST FIREARMS, 2 anodized ($32.50 each) + 1 raw Aluminum ($27.50 each) + $5.99 flat shipping fee = $97.49 delivered. Even if Brownells had anodized in stock, their sale price of $39.99 is cheaper than the raw aluminum ones they sell at $46.85...$19 higher than you can get with Ghost...
Bye Brownells...
Currently out of stock on Black Anodized @ $39.99 (before any discounts) & unfinished is in stock for $46.85.
If you order 3 with the 10% code that currently works it comes out to $31.65 delivered. I got a few of these a while back and they were nice. Lets do it again.
If you buy 3 with code JDC the total comes to $94.97 with free shipping.
That worked for me as well - only thing is you have to buy three or more.
I was pleasantly surprised to come across that as I ordered mine.
$10 off plus free shipping!
The Easy Jig or 5D Jig are probably your best options but it will work with any jig designed to mill AR-15 Mil Spec 80% Lowers.
I'm up in theibair between the two of them. Not really sure it's worth $300 in a jig, $130 for a router and $75 for two 80s when I could just buy 2 lowers private sale and have the same amount of traceability.
Only benefit is knowing I did it myself...
Traceability is a fiction, at best a starting place for an investigation. But building one is a skill you can pass down. Something special. And who knows, you may see something that no one else has and create the next MSR.
I'll add that I recently put together a couple of AR-10 DPMS pattern Matrix Arms matched sets. They assrmbled perfectly and are high quality in my opinion.
This is a good price for a black finished 80% lower. Black finished is on backorder. Raw is not and actually costs a couple dollars more...
I'll get my $29.00 raws at tactical machining instead even with shipping it's a better deal they had the anodized on sale for $35.00 but now oos and back to $44.00 , still I'd buy from them over brownell's in this case all day long. the quality is second to none (they also have a sale on handguards with free shipping when you buy one.)
