Good deal, but the shipping kinda kills it for me. $25 shipping for 2 lowers that makes it 45 per plus transfer. No thanks.

I bought one when they charged $3.99 shipping. Classic's site now calculates $21. That's crazy and a deal killer. The detent spring hole on mine was a little undersized, I had to drill it out, no big deal. Fair fit on my Aero Upper, pins lined up, a little loose overall. No reason to buy one now. At $34.99 plus $3.99 shipping it works if you want a very light lower.

Obviously I'd choose this over a polymer tupperware lower but with the availability of aluminum lowers flooding the market at comparable prices, I'd choose one of those. I can get Anderson lowers at a local shop for $50 which includes the FFL transfer fees. Yes the price is cheap on these but by the time you add any Shipping and the FFL transfer fees of $20 to $40 it just isn't worth it.

$19.51 for shipping to S.Florida. lol ...Did they hire the CTD CEO?

I know many of you have negative feelings towards polymers, but I would definitively prefer a Poly before this, if shaving weight is the goal.

Now if affordability is why you are looking at these, I have seen these crack when bumped against the floor (search on Google and see for yourself)... The 'new & strengthened' version may have solved the issues of the past ones, but if you are on a budget and looking for a metal lower go for an Anderson lower. Besides $20 for shipping!?!?

You are right. I just bought a couple a few days ago and only $8.99 to ship now they've hiked up their shipping price to $23.90. That pisses me off. Shady dealings. Had I know they would screw people over like that I wouldn't have bought from them just based on principle. Never again Classic Firearms. $23 is WAY WAY WAY overpriced to ship a 2lb package.........Apparently after a little research I see they pull this crap all the time, show low prices and then make up for them by charging ridiculous shipping charges....

I would stay away from these. I bought 2 before the company disappeared and both takedown pins were undersized and needed to be drilled out. I sold them for a lose.

meh, you can pick up 3 Anderson lowers for $130 from cabelas. Not to mention that most people will need to add the trasfer fees to these lowers, unless you have your own ffl

Well said. Normally I'd use Anderson's lower, but these are so cheap I figured I'd do a cheap lightweight for one of my kids.

First of all, lowers don't make guns blow up. They blow up because of issues with your upper. Second of all, yes, this is a better option than a polymer lower. Third, there was one thread on ar15.com where someone posted a kaboom, and everyone told him over and over that it was not the lower's fault. This is a killer deal.

Buyer beware, mag tactical went under years ago so these are just leftover stock. If this company's magnesium lowers were decent they wouldn't be sold for $34.99 on classic, and the parent company would still be in business.

I guess they went under because of the lowers blowing apart. How can they blow apart? Wouldn't that be bad headspacing and have nothing to do with the lower? Would this be a better option over a poly lower?

I would probably choose the alloy over polymer out of personal preference. But if it needs to be reinforced at the pin holes and use longer pins, that indicates to me an inherent weakness they felt needed addressing. So how much stronger it is over a good polymer lower, I have no idea.

It's supposed to be an aluminum/magnesium alloy. Since magnesium is softer and more flexible then aluminum, it would appear the magnesium part of the alloy makes it lighter, but also makes it weaker than a forged aluminum receiver, hence the reinforcements.

Magnesium is also more subject to corrosion. So when Classic states you may have to clean out the pin holes because the cerakoted finish may have narrowed the holes... that concerns me because if you create raw edges inside the holes, you may then expose the holes to corrosion.

For the 2.5 ounce savings in weight, I would rather use my mil spec forged aluminum Aero Precision receivers.

But if someone wants one for the weight reduction, or just a cheap build...and doesn't care about not having a manufacture warranty...it is the best price I have seen on a magnesium alloy lower.

These are pretty cool The one I looked at the other day had pins for the Trigger and hammer with it. Im sure the company will send you some if this one doesn't come with any.

Have one, like it a lot.

It's hard coat is actually hard paint. Mine has a few chips from ham-fisted assembly. I don't care, but you might.

well the hard anodizing on typical AR lowers aren't much more durable than paint anyway. i'll take gunkote or alumahyde over anodizing any day.
