Ordered mine on Sunday, paid for it and had my FFL email them all on Sunday. Two days later the order still says 'in progress'. I have reached out to them to see what else they may be needing but have not been contacted. I'm hoping I didn't get duped. Oh, and the price on their website on Sunday was 279.99, which obviously has gone up.

UPDATE: Received an email back advising there was a computer glitch on their end causing some firearms to be reduced to 279.99. They advised they cannot and would not sell this firearm for the price I saw it on their website and purchased it. So, they are issuing a refund. Too bad, I was really hoping...but won't do business with them again if they can't keep their things in order.

I was a little disappointed they took the money and “processed” the order, then called to say they couldn’t honor their end due to a computer error. Second tome for me that SMGA has cancelled an order that went through

Let me guess, a computer error and couldn’t let that gun go for that amount?!!

I can't say what you should feel and what you should do with your money, but I'd advise readers of your feedback to consider the context of the situation. This is a pistol that goes for $700+ nearly everywhere else, and $599 (current price as of my reply) is a killer good price for this pistol. And here you're pissed off that there was a glitch or human error on their website, and they aren't willing to lose money on a bunch of these situations? If the roles were reversed and you were the one running the business, can you honestly say that you would follow through on a mistake like that when there were possibly THOUSANDS of such transactions on their website? I personally think you're just pissy because you thought you found the deal of the century, but it was too good to be true. SMGA has always treated me right, and I would not - even for a second - hesitate to do business with them again if I went through this exact situation. They're good folks and trying to do what's best for their business and customers. At least they gave you a speedy refund and made sure the situation was remedied quickly.

It's funny how some of you just want to tuff talk on here instead of writing your reviews on this particular firearm.

Kimber = over priced un reliability!?

Especially when you go the cheap Kimber route. Save your $$$.

If you live in a state where people are not internet savvy, and where people tend to stick to old notions of value, buy one of these, hold on to it a few months, and then sell it. Guaranteed easiest $200 you will ever make. Same with Colts. Lots of stubborn people are out there willing to give you top dollar due to old notions of quality.

I picked one up for about the same price a while ago and I love it. I own a mix of different weapons and this one was by far the most accurate right out of the box. I will say that I tried som Freedom Munitions 200gr FP ammo and it does not like that almost every other round will fail to feed. But it will eat any type of 230gr RN that I feed thru it. I have only put about 350 rounds thru mine so far so it is still not considered broken in until 500 so I may try the 200gr ammo again just to clear out what I have left and after that stick to the 230gr

So Teach me -- Why is this particular model of Kimber priced hundreds of dollars less than all other Kimber 1911's?? I've seen this price several times on this particular model - and only this model. Does it have a forged frame/slide or something? I've heard that the PSA "blem" two-tone 1911's are the same gun as this gun (same price too) and that it was some kind of joint venture??
Thanks for any insights you can provide

I have this gun and it isn't blem in anyway. There is no checkering on the front of the grip and the hammer lock isn't ambi, only comes with one mag. Just little things that make other kimber guns cost more are missing. Still has match barrel and trigger. Accurate as balls right out of the box. I ordered from this dealer and they are super fast with shipping.

Wish I knew too. My son has one and loves it. Crazy accurate he tells me. Wouldn’t think Kimber would cut any corners so I am curious as well.

If this was 10mm... I still wouldnt consider it because my G20 holds twice as many rounds, weighs less, recoils softer, costs less, is more reliable and doesnt require 2 trips back to the factory to function. As an FFL, I quit carrying Kimber pistols. I got tired of people coming back in, pissed that their $800 handgun wouldnt function.

I would take a Rock Island 1911 10mm double stack over this or your GLock any day of the week. costing less doesn't impress me. value and looks do.

How is a less reliable, heavier, more expensive gun better in any way?

Glad you value looks in a firearm over reliability. Most women are the same way.

Did you upgrade the plastic sights in your Block 20? Or did you upgraded the plastic guide rod and replaced the recoil spring for a stronger one? If you did, explain why, if Blocks are “Perfection”.

1 vote

And did you upgrade the “connector”? If yes, why?

Oh, and did you upgrade the plastic magazine release button? Why if Blocks are “Perfection”?

I almost forgot, did you upgrade the plastic trigger for a $200 drop in trigger in your Block 20? If yes, explain why and share with us how much has that Block cost you by now with all the upgrades

Uh no... Actually, all mine are stock. I did change the trigger connector in my first one years ago, but that's because I was a rookie status and thought I could improve on "Perfection"

Turns out they ARE perfect just the way they are. I'm no authority but I do have extensive time behind a 19, 26 and a 43. All Gen4's and all bone stock. Thousands upon thousands of rounds combined. No tungsten guide rods, no hotrod triggers. NEVER a single malfunction EVER. Why would I mess with that?.. It's not an XD...lol

GLOCKS are tools. The forever standard to which all others are measured. If you deny that, well dude, you're just in denial. Saying you don't like their looks is like saying you don't like how a hammer or a screwdriver looks.

I have "a few" guns, revolvers, 1911's, all makes and models. I don't have any guns I don't like but I can't think of any other pistol that I'd rather fight my way out of a bad situation with. They simply do what they were intended to do.

Like the saying goes. "I show my friends my 1911, I show my enemies my Glock"

I'm not a fanboy, I just recognize "Perfection" when I see it.

I own just a few guns myself ;) including a few Glocks in 9, 40, and 45. But... I own 2 Glock 21 and they both will stay out of battery if the slide is racked back just a fraction of an inch with a round in the chamber and fully loaded mag

My Glock 21/4 does the same thing. Got it out to shoot a few days ago, thought of you, and tried it. Just like you said....you have to push the slide forward just a tad. Didn't try firing it while it was 'out of battery' as you say. Now I know why I love my Springfields so much. I guess TacticalShitSplatter can keep showing his enemies his Glock for what that's worth.

Now, try to go against your enemy with a slide that’s out of battery and see who wins that gun fight !!!

Had an eclipse custom 2. Traded it off after sending back to the factory for FTF only to come back with continued problems. Will NEVER own another Kimber. Not for under 600 even! High quality junk is all you get.

You must be in your 20's. yu have a lot to learn. ill take my 1911 over that garbage anyday

Try this, take a CZ and a 1911, and rack the slide as fast as you possibly can, without a mag in the gun to simulate clearing a bad round, and tell me which slide you are able to rack faster

Looks cool but too flashy for me, if i was a hitman i wouldnt want this

As a “hitman” you can actually “HIT” a lot harder with a heavy all metal gun such as a Government size all metal 1911.

Just got back from picking mine up. Shoots like a dream. No complaints about the gun. Only thing that could have improved was SMGA getting it out quicker. But at this price I'm not going to complain too loudly. 10/10 Would purchase again

Great price on a great 1911. SMGA is awesome to deal with..... I'd say this is prolly too much gun for the avg Glocker......

It's cheaper at Cabela's if you purchased gift cards at 18% off, even after tax. I'm not a buyer, but I figured I'd have saved $25+transfer fees by buying at Cabela's.

Can this take single stack Glock clips?

2 votes
2 votes

This 1911 can’t take Glock “clips”, but it can take the heat of direct open flames, while the “Block” will melt into a puddle of molten plastic. I own 1911s and Glocks, and love them both, but I know the limitations of each one

I've been told that there is no such thing as a stupid question but you have done it. Nobody is going to be surprised considering your name. Go back to your mom's basement and play with your little plastic gun, the kimber is a real gun, stay away.
