The Kel-Tec SU-16E chambered in 5.56 NATO is a unique take on the modern sporting rifle with several innovative features. Internally the SU-16 uses a locking bolt design like the AR-15 combined with a reliable and clean running long stroke gas piston similar to an AK 47. The charging handle is attached to the bolt carrier and is reciprocating. The SU-16E uses readily available AR-15 compatible magazines. Pick this firearm up and the first thing you notice will be it's light weight. Coming in at a svelte 4.7 lbs empty, the SU-16E is as easy to carry as it is fun to shoot. This rifle has a 16" threaded barrel with a 1:7 twist and 6 position stock. A picatinny rail sits atop a polymer receiver for optics and another sits under the compact forend for lights and accessories. This firearm comes equipped with windage adjustable aperture sights at the rear and an elevation adjustable A2 styled post sight up front. Kel-Tec calls this unique firearm a Sport Utility Rifle and it's easy to see why. Light, fun to shoot, and reliable, the Kel-Tec SU-16E is up to any task.

The folding SU16's are cool, light, and functional but this for $700 makes no sense. Full sized gun, full sized price, but does not fit in a back pack nor is heavy duty enough for anything but a back up or plinking rifle.

Interesting, it has the same buttstock as a T91. I love Kel-Tec's warranty/service & innovation, but I really wish they'd make something that wasn't almost entirely polymer.
