Same thing happened to me! They "sold out" of a gun at a cheaper price, but I could buy the same gun for double there price. Didn't make any sense

I just picked another one up. It is in no way a replacement for my AR's. It is however, a great truck/camp gun. It's super light and can fold into your backpack. At a little over $400 i feel a lot better leaving it in a vehicle than my $1500 AR. This will be my second. First one fires great and ate everything so far. I wouldn t feel comfortable putting thousands of 5.56 through it. Feels a bit cheap but has yet to let me down.

I have the C model which has been a great gun for me so far. The haters are gonna hate but to be honest mine is very accurate, has had no failures of any kind and is a blast to shoot.

I would recommend the C model as it has a threaded barrel, will shoot while folded(if that is important to you) and has an AR style front sight. I appreciated the threaded barrel as I shot it several times at an indoor range before I grabbed an A2 flash hider and slapped it on there and all was good. Before that it was pretty blinding indoors.

Also adjusting the front sight is much easier than the sub2000 style front sight on this A model. Trigger is also better. This gun is just a much better shooter than my sub2000. For what it is it works. It folds, it's super light/compact, it takes AR mags and I can hit what I'm aiming at.

It is a lot of fun.

One Of the most overrated guns out there, can't believe people pay what they do for kel-tec products, i would own them all as novelty guns for fun but not for the price they go for

if you have never held one, try to track one down before buying. It is one of the flimsiest rifles I have ever held. Plastic feels cheap and the fold down bipod was not what I could call sturdy.

"Sport utility rifle" just sounds dumb. (Not commenting on the gun, just the marketing)

I like mine, I feed it steel ammo it doesnt care fires great. It works good with either ar15 mag polymer or steel. I must admit I treat it more harshly than my other ARs and it functions fine and no BB since i'm in CA.

Does it accept AR mags?

Yup, sure do.

I owned one of these rifles. First take the provided mags and throw them over the hill, would not hold more than a couple rounds without blowing all the ammo out. Fortunately they use any AR type mags available. It was not very accurate but it would handle any kind of ammo thrown at it. With the fact that a AR can be had close to the same price range, I have $500 total invested in my DPMS Oracle, I do not see the appeal in this rifle anymore.

is cleaning by a snake only or barrel can be taken off quick?

Watch their bait and switch!! Bud's did it to me on Christmas Eve. Accepted payment and two days later said it was a mistake on the price. If I wanted the rifle it would be $400 more!

Can it be fired in the fold form?

If so, how does the rifle measure over all at that point. Will you need a Class III licence to own one?

If you're new to these make sure you know pro/con versus su16C

I've always like these, but the Charlie version.

Not worth this price but some jack-wagon will buy it everytime and set a new standard like all other kel-tec products

Do you own one? No ya don't. It's just something you "heard" someone say or you "read" on a "forum". Bunch of friggin brand snobs who think everyone has to have a thousand dollar AR so the stranger next to him at the range will approve.

I have one. It is a featherweight piston driven rifle that takes ar15 mags. The park job on it sucks, the rear sight is basic and the trigger likes to break in 1/2 when fired in cold weather.
My romanian 223 ak is more accurate and the $650 ar15 i built with dsa parts is more reliable and robust..
The keltec is an ok rifle if you live in a warm climate that isn't humid and the rifle isn't run hard.

I own two dpms ar's...... and no i dont own one, i base it off the fact that this should be 450ish... and is marked up like all keltec products.

Who buys all of Kel-tec's guns? No one I know has a Kel-tec, and they are ALWAYS out of stock, or DOUBLE msrp.

I've never shot one, but the few I've held at gun shows seem cheap.
I'm sure their weapons are fine, but OOS and overpriced has always kept me away.

They have great ideas but they always have one thing that they should have and could have done better atleast on the ksg and the plr the only two ive owned, and i agree the polymer triggers feel cheap as hell, also i dropped my plr once also and the iron sight broke in half, they did send me a new upgraded sight no questions asked though so customer service is there. They also need to step up production so distributors will stop gouging retailers who gouge us

Agreed, suitable ARs for $500 can do the same, except fire folded (which the Charlie does) su-16c.

I bet other AR's aren't anywhere near 5.0 Lbs either.

Is that really a good thing though? To me this gun imo this is more of a range toy than anything, polymers have proven themselves so far but this things got an obvious weak point, also The lighter the more recoil and the harder it is for follow up shots, but the bushmaster carbon 15 can be had for 550 with a red sight if thats what you really want. I like this gun dont get me wrong but its out of its price range for what it is.

It's a DARN GOOD thing if you're on a 2 week back packing hike through the mountains and would like to be armed with an AR that fits in you pack. Nothing else comes close. That's worth something to quite a few people...I'm guessing it's worth...oh...about $509.

I think they were cheaper a few years ago, around what you are saying now... I'm sure they will come down like everything else.

ARs are already selling at record lows. Theres no reason to spend 500 on one of these.
On black friday you could build a complete AR for $400.
Now you still can for 500, and much better than a Carbon15.
I dont mind keltec products, but their markups are ridiculous.
You cant find a Sub2000 for less than double msrp.

The "markup" isn't Kel-Tecs, it's the distributors and LGS's that are responding to the demand. The gun is worth what people are willing to pay for it. Kel-Tec can't control the end price, the market sets that. The only thing you can bitch about KelTec is that you'd like them to boost production so that the supply increases so the price will drop. The only problem is that there are a half-dozen other forums complaining about shortages on half-dozen other Kel-Tec products. If history is any guide post, Kel-Tec is ALWAYS short of production on various products at any one time. You just hope they're not short on what YOU want at the time.

Oh I know its not Keltec raising the price. Its well known Keltec cant prouce enough for demand. It is what it is, I just wont pay the inflation, others will.
