The only gun you should ever buy from keltec is their sub 2000 and even then only after you drop 600 on Mcarbo parts that should have been included in the gun internals anyway.
These are way overpriced and really should be a little more than 55% of this price. Do yourself a favor and if you want to spend this much buy a nicer AR.
I own an SU-16 model B and this is correct.
The poor design of this firearm means that the bolt carrier group is going out the back of the upper receiver at one point or another on any model of SU-16. Kel-tec CS reps have admitted this themselves and have more or less dropped support on this model in favor of their shiny new neato-but-finnicky designs.
I think the only way your bolt is leaving the back of this gun is if you have 10,000 rounds through the gun and / or abuse the ever living piss out of it.. This is a backpack / truck gun. Most likely will never see 1000 rounds and shouldn't be taken to the front lines in Kyiv (or "Kiev"). Remember that and it will last forever.
Also, Kel-Tec has a lifetime warranty; so let it break once a decade...I didn't want to clean it anyway.
I had one of these years ago. I ended up selling it during one of the political related panic buying times during the Obozo administration and bought an AR to replace it. It would only run brass ammo, it was a bolt action semi auto with steel case ammo.
I could be mistaken, but I thought these originally were folders that had a magazine holder in the stock. The configuration pictured is pretty much pointless at $900, especially given the number of garden variety ARs available on gun.deals for a fraction of that price.
You are right partially, the originals had a under folding stock like the AK, but they did not hold a mag to my knowledge? but it would not fold with 30 rounders, so yeah this cheap plastic is pointless.
Definitely unique, but I’d rather spend the same amount on a comparable AR platform rifle from a good mid-tier manufacturer.
I have the SU-16C (folding model that fires in the folded state). While it is good for a super lightweight, mostly polymer 'backpack gun'...none of these SU-16's should cost over $400-500. At that point you might as well get a decent entry level AR or spend a little extra on a budget AK.
