Description

The "Bravo" model retains all the features of the original SU-16, such as integrated bipod, picatinny rail, and rotating stock with magazine storage. However, the "Bravo" has a lighter and shorter barrel, about 8 oz. and 2.3". Now comes equipped with chrome-lined bore and chamber standard. The front and rear sight are hard coat anodized aluminum and adjustable for elevation and windage, respectively. They are both removable and the front sight uses AR-15 style front sight posts. The SU-16B is not a replacement for the original SU-16, but a complement for customers that put a premium on light weight and compactness. The "Bravo" type sights can be purchased as a retrofit for SU-16 owners preferring the AR-15/M16 front sight system.

Why would you get one of these for the price of an AR? I mean, I have one, but that's cuz I got it for $350 and I live in California.

I have a SU-16B, and it's served me quite well.

In fact whenever I go out to the Angeles Range in California it's often the most accurate semi-automatic 5.56 rifle on the line. I think once there was a really fancy .22LR AR-15 that outshot it, but that was about it. I'm only using a non-magnifying red dot too.

I did get the aftermarket Red Lion trigger and a trigger job done on it, as well as polishing up the internals myself. So that might have helped, but not like it was hard or expensive to do.

One funny thing though was people at the range who are unfamiliar with SU-16s keep thinking it's a .308 carbine... the bigger flash and boom compared to AR-15s (plus the added accuracy) tend to mislead them.

it is a piston driven featherweight. I still like my ar15 better. the ar15 doesn't get rust on it when i look at it

msrp = $720

lightweight, low production counts, fills a niche market = high cost

Once upon a time (last year), these were in the low $500 range. I've got an old quote from Buds for $510 for a 'C' model.
