Description
Slide and barrel are 4140 steel, frame is 7075 aluminum. Grip, slide cover, trigger, mag release, and safety levers are glass reinforced Nylon (Zytel), much like other Kel-Tec Pistols. Magazine is Also Zytel and holds 30 rounds, with round count ports. Other features include: dual opposing extractors for reliability, heel magazine release to aid in magazine retention, dovetailed aluminum front sight, Picatinny accessory rail under the barrel, Urethane recoil buffer, captive coaxial recoil springs. PMR30 disassembles for cleaning by removal of a single pin.

Seen a lot of ugly fugly looking handguns in my day but this over priced one takes the cake barff barff.

It will get back to $299 right after $.99 gasoline. I used to buy marlin 30/30 rifles all day for $129.00 also.
Still waiting for it to come down to around $300, although I'm becoming more and more disinterested.

This isn't a deal.. its never been a deal as it is at least $170 over the initial MSRP of $299 - back years ago when it was advertised in American Rifleman and compared as a backup weapon... having the same capacity of a 30rd AR mag and weighing the same as that mag fully loaded. Kel-Tec is unable to produce this weapon at a level that meets demand.. and we all learned the S/D curve in high school. For those of you that have this gun.. booyah glad you have it and hopefully the feed issues have been fixed. For the rest of us.. well.. it will be a deal once it drops to MSRP.

For somebody who is willing to pay $15 over current MSRP to get a PMR NOW, this seems like a pretty good deal to me. And, there seem to be plenty of people out there more than willing to pay that or the price would be lower. Whining about it isn't going to change anything.
The MSRP was $299 when I looked it up a few years back - back when it was advertised in AR magazine. I'm guessing labor costs have risen. Strangely enough I haven't seen it advertised in print much since. Oh and on that... who here on gun.deals think's its slick to pay more than MSRP? One other thing... CDNN rarely allows you to purchase Kel-Tec guns online... you have to call and give your credit card over the phone.. yet I could theoretically purchase hundreds of other guns without using the phone. I'm still puzzled by that.. as much as the CDNN deals where you can only purchase this gun if you "package buy" a Kel-Tec PF9 at the same time. Don't get me wrong I've purchased a dozen or more guns from CDNN from other manufacturers but no other requires phone only. I think I'll go down to the dealer and see if I can buy a new Corvette for the price they were advertised when I was in high school in 1986. They'll probably do it, right? It's no deal at the current price and I refuse to buy one until the price comes back to the 1986 level.
I'm just havin' fun wit' ya, but I don't understand the whining on prices on items like this. People obviously think it's a deal, because there are plenty who are buying them. I get that it's not a deal for you, but I'm sure some appreciate knowing about deals like this.
Mine has an eating disorder, about 3 rounds per full mag it fails to feed. I have this hate/love relationship with it, fun range gun, like owning a unicorn, but not something to bet it's going to go BANG when you really need it to. Ammo was a hit or miss thing in 2014. Early models also had a key-holing issue.
Mine was particular, but now 3 brands makes it happy ..
When new, mine didn't like feeding the 2nd round of a full magazine, but that was it. I could feed it "s....y" ammo and it was still good to go.
I've polished the feed ramp, improved a bit, but still not perfect. One theory is the hammer spring is too heavy, once it's cocked the recoil spring is not pulling it back into battery. Like how feels, good trigger. And once you get past 20 the rounds are a bit of a pain to load. Got it new for under MSRP at a local shop so can't complain too much, it is an early production pistol.
I don't get it. What is the use of this pistol? Awfully expensive in the acquisition and way too expensive in operation with 22 mag. Plinking? No way. Might as well shoot 9MM. Defensive? Better guns available at less cost in 9MM, which is far superior in defense and way more reliable than this gun as a rimfire. Target? Not my first choice at this cost. Buy a nice Ruger Mark II for half the price and shoot ammo at 1/5 the cost. Lastly. This is a Keltec. Is this thing going to hold together? Quality...? Buy it as a novelty if you want. I'll be happy to shoot your gun at the range for the novelty factor and even make some nice comments to make you feel good about your bad investment.
Hater gonna hate, give one example of a pistol that is similar. 9mm? Too few rounds and too much recoil. .22 and .22 mag are different rounds if you were not aware, and also point out who makes your 30 round 22. Keltec low quality? Wish you had the Internet back in the 80s so you could trash glock for being expensive plastic junk. I'll totally agree that it's niche, but 500 bucks for a reliable 30 round semi auto pistol that's lightweight and can shred a 2a vest I think it's ok.
You get 30 rounds of the potent .22 Magnum in one magazine. That's a quite a bit of firepower, actually. In a comparable sized 9mm, you'd get maybe 15 or 17.
Sorry I struck a nerve. I'm not hating, just questioning and people are getting really defensive. Hmm. I still don't get this as a gun that would have any advantage over other options that appear better in almost any POU. I like the answer above that it is "fun, plain and simple" as probably the best reason to buy it. Like I said before, this is not a gun I would want to rely on as a defensive weapon due the unreliability of rimfire,, so the argument of a 30 round firepower doesn't due much good if you have ammo issues in a defensive situation. Better to have 17-20 rounds of 9MM centerfire in your handgun that is reliable ammo and more effective in power. Too much recoil in a 9MM? Give me a break. Maybe if you are only 100 pounds soaking wet with stick arms. This gun is expensive otherwise, both in acquisition and operation compared to other options in any other POU. As for Keltec, I hope they are making good quality guns. I don't own any precisely due to their quality issues I have heard about. Maybe those are wrong and I'll concede I don't know this gun or manufacturer intimately. I would like to hear some real POU attributes and advantages that this gun has. Right now a fun range toy novelty is what I see as the best POU and that is fine. I would hope this gun wouldn't be promoted as a defensive option unless this is the only gun you can afford. And if that is the case you could have bought a better option to start with.

It indicates you don't really care about learning the "why" people want it and really just wanted to express your dislike of it.
Indeed. That's clearly a "gun bigot" comment (by that, I mean, someone claiming that "your gun sucks and my gun is awesome").
In such cases, I usually ask whomever says something like that if they would be willing to let me shoot "my gun that sucks" at them to see if it really does suck, or if it just makes them mad, or whatever their original claim was.
In the end, "guns & ammo religion" comments like this are rarely helpful. It's just easier to accept other people's choices and let the burden be upon them. There's no need for anybody to get rude about it (and yes, the "bad investment" comment was rude).
Anyway, I'm not trying to elicit a defensive response, just describing my point of view. If anybody doesn't like my gun choices or my point of view, that's just fine. That's their problem, not mine.

these guns stopped after the initial rush to buy. I see them sitting at just about every gun show. No person in their right mind, "who knows guns" , is going to drop close to 6 bills on a toy gun looking plastic pistol. It's useless for carry, and too bug to put IWB, even if you are silly enough to carry a 22 for self defense. it's a plinker, that's way overpriced.
Who is Keltec trying to impress? they only make a few guns this being one, that works. Why do they keep making and trying to sell all the other junk models. They need to stop the presses and pump out the ones that people want. Innovation is garbage when your products suck, just like USFA - read the zip gun description, it makes you laugh. This is bad management as in the OWNER/s of Keltec. I would hate working for a POS reputation company just because the owner is a dipsh_t.
I love my PMR30. If you are like me and enjoy the dragons breath muzzle blast, you'll be pleased! My PMR30 feeds flawlessly and I paid way, way, WAY too much for it... Still love it!
If quality and razor sharp edges come with it like the sub 2k. No thanks.
Busted out one of there old ad magazines (2012-1). Price of the pmr-30 was $300.
Nothing like a $500 handgun held together with hex bolts.

They had a few in a couple months ago. I asked the price and they said 499. I asked what is MSRP on these and the salesman said he wasn't sure. I declined to buy it.

The "big knife" in the picture is a Spartan Blades Horkos http://spartanbladesusa.com/Horkos-Combat-Utility-Knife... and they ask just a smidge less for it as they are asking for this gun, so I doubt it is a package deal. If it were I'd buy every one they had. I'd rather have the knife than the gun... That picture shows an extreme piece of quality with an extreme piece of plastic sitting on top of it.
And the cute girl.. with the same likelihood. Call for price means you can't just place an internet order? /big-sigh. I've commented before but Kel-tec just needs to make enough of these so you can actually buy one outright.. at MSRP or something realistically close.
