22wmr has a muzzle velocity of 2000 and up.
If the ammo was 14 cents instead of 28 and the price was less then an AR it would be more attractive
Well, I HAD to buy one at this price. This is the lowest I have seen them in many years. Kind'da sucks .22 mag cost a lot more that 9mm.

I do like that the availability is increasing and the price of these are dropping.
.22 LR and .22 mag aren't even in the same ballpark. The .22wmr has more in common with a .223 than it does a .22lr.
I hate to call you out like this, but that's not even close to true.
Average 22 LR has about 130 ft/lb of energy. Average 22 WMR has about 300, and the 223 has about 1400.
Velocities are also way different with 22 LR at about 1000 fps, the 22 WMR in the 1300 range, and the 223 in the 3300 range.
22 WMR has its place in the world, but it's really not a good substitute for a 223.
I bought 2 of these last year...they both shoot like a wet dream.
I really want one of these. But, my common sense side says to buy another AK.

Works interchangeably with pmr 30 magazines....would be a nice long gun side arm combo.
This is off point regarding the deal, but why would you buy this? For less money you could buy an AR15 pattern rifle. The ammo costs are similar, mags are way cheaper, and the AR is much more open to modification, accurization etc. Especially given Keltec's spotty reputation.
Weight is a huge issue as well. The PMR-30 and CMR are super light, and still have the capacity to throw 30 rounds of ammo. I carry a PMR-30 on my hip, and 2 extra mags, while upland game hunting, just in case I see a coyote. I barely notice that I'm carrying something.
Interesting comment. I hadn't thought about this firearm in anything other than a "tacticool" way.
It makes a sweet backpacking rifle or a truck gun. It can hide in a lot of places in the house. Also, it is really close to a legal SBR. Not sure how they got around the minimum length the ATF requires for a long gun. Limited recoil. This thing fits a lot of scenarios other than impressing the folks in the next lane at the range.
Why does it always have to be one or the other? What self respecting firearm aficianado has only one glock, one 1911, one revolver, etc. It's a big world out there, try something besides a bologna sandwich on white bread.
It's supply and demand - typical Kel-tec. I have one and paid more, but it's been a tack driver so far. It likes 40 - 50 gr. ammo though, just like its little brother (the PMR). Not very practical, but cool and fun.
This one seems different from mine with fiber optics and aluminum dovetailed front sight. Is that just a misprint and these all come with the Magpul sights?
I haven't shot mine much since arriving a couple months ago. Mainly because finding 22 WMR locally proved impossible so I had to order online. The recoil is minimal and gun is very light weight. The stock seemed flimsy but it works okay on the gun due to the light recoil. I sort of like the ability to just pull it out without having to hit a release button to open.
I had been looking at these and had read the ballistics so was anxious to try it out. My first shot on a coyote made it "yipe" and run away. It did eventually die but really had expected it to drop on site with the wound entrance just over the left shoulder. Haven't really played with it much since that. I have ordered other ammo types to see what difference that will make.
My first range outing to get it sighted had a number of feed problems. I think it was the magazine as the rounds were sitting funny and took effort to load-up 30 rounds. 20 rounds or less seemed to work fine and suspect I can go up to 30 when it breaks in.
Some other observations I've had:
The mag release placement isn't ideal for me in the heel of the grip
The slide release was unworkable out of the box - seems to be getting better the more I shoot it
It's lighter than I imagined - well suited for hiking, truck gun, etc. as others have pointed out.
All-in-all I ask myself if it was really "necessary" to get - and to that I'd answer no. I paid about $100 more and have the titanium finish.
