Same here. I was still shopping with it in the cart and when I went back to cart, SURPRISE! Price jumped from $47.99 to $74.99. I guess they figured they could soak the customers for a lot more since JP Ent is still getting their outrageous prices!

Price is now 74.99 I changed a few min ago when I was getting ready to checkout with additional things.

It works fine if you are using a mil spec carbine buffer tube.

Waste of money unless you are trying to reduce the metal springy sound in the buffer. They claim less recoil but after 500 rounds i see no difference.

i have 2 of these and i’ve never had a single negative issue with either. Put one in and M&P 15 and the other in a custom build with an 18” .223 Wylde barrel.

I can’t get this thing to cycle reliably either. Lite strikes, failures to fire and failures to feed about energy 8 rounds on average. It was a frustrating range day yesterday.

A1/A2 stocks will work but require one of these https://armaspec.com/product/fixed-stock-to-carbine-spacer-a1a2/...

I bought one but it's about 3 or 4 inches too short for the tube. Did they send me the wrong one?

If you're using a carbine tube then yes, it's too short. If you're using a rifle tube, no you'd ordinarily use a spacer.

Long story short, this particular setup requires a spacer with a hole hollowed through the center if using a rifle buffer tube.

I have one of these and I have one of the JP Enterprises Gen 2 Silent Captured Buffer Spring System. These do the exact same thing for about 1/3 the cost. Installation is simple. The twang! spring noise in my AR is gone. Be sure to look for coupon codes for Guns Midwest. I think first time buyers get some money off. For me, the SIG AR400 Tread spring noise was driving me nuts and this eliminated it for a really reasonable price. no issues with the functionality of the gun. I would recommend this product.

I have the same rifle! I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it annoying lol. Does this reduce recoil at all?

I think it does a little bit. I was really surprised that Sig didn't do a better job with the spring ... it really is the noisiest one I have ever owned.

Anyone know how these compare to the JP Enterprises mode is like on Brownells? I only ask the pros that know because they start at 139.99 and these are significantly cheaper.
Anybody that has info is much appreciated.

They are very similar. They do the exact same thing and I own both. The JP is a little better made and nicer looking but the function is identical with this one feeling like the spring is stronger from the get-go but it might just need to be broken in. It's worth the money.

There's less reciprocating mass to these, so it compensates by adding a much heavier spring. You can rack a JP and it feels like butter. Armaspec and these JE models are significantly stiffer.

I adore the JPs, but I can't afford to put them in every one of my rifles. For the price I'll purchase these.

I'm here to clear things up. Guys - instead of TWANG TWANG, what they really mean to say is: SPROING SPROING.

1 vote
0 votes

Is this a gimmick? All of my springs from PSA have little to no spring sound when racking the handle back. I’ve heard other people’s ARs springs ‘twang’, and my AK ‘twangs’, but my stock AR buffer springs don’t at all, so I’m trying to figure out the hype behind this product.

Ran one at a course today....works for me . 450 rds running drills no issue...it was a back up lower another student had. I had issues with bolt release weak spring. It was doing premature locks on mags with rds. (Fixed now) a student had an extra lower with this spring....it was smooth...no twang sound...ran really good considering the lower was built from milspec parts, anderson lower, and this in the buffer. Which lead me to research this item. May buy one ...

Did they have the JP ($$$) or this J*E* copy ($$)?

Good price on this which is usually closer to $80. I have one and it is certainly mor quiet than a stock setup. For me though, I wanted to tune it to my AR with my gas block. Unfortunately, the stock springs are very stiff. I'll have to figure out if I need to cut coils or replace the springs. Obviously not as capable as the JRs which are fully customizable with different springs and weights.

This comment section has gotten out of control. I’ve been using this product for months and out of all the thousands of dollars I’ve spent on gun parts this ranks near the top when it comes to money spent vs actual performance gain. This thing is 100% real. No more twang from the buffer spring and along with my atlas brake literally no muzzle climb it’s like shooting a water gun

I have the exact same combo, and can attest that the JE works very well. I also have the AR10 version in my... AR10, and it works very well. No issues ever.

"The Je Designs captured-spring recoil system makes your AR function 95% smoother 80% quieter without any real modifications"

So changing the entire manner in which a direct impingement functions via it's buffer and spring isn't a real modification? I'd like to know exactly how the manufacturer can claim that using this magic product will result in ones AR to function 95% smoother & its magic ability to reduce noise by 80%, (Which is absurdly ridiculous) How is the 80% quieter claim substantiated? What testing equipment was used and how far was the noise meter from the rifle when the measurements were taken to determine the dB rating 80% reduction?

An AR15 firing 5.56 M193 ammunition is in the area of 140 dB to 167 dB. With a suppressor that same AR15 shooting 5.56 M193 drops to roughly 135 dB

So this magical copycat of a JP Silent Captured Spring (name association taken as well) can drop a AR15 shooting 5.56 M193 @160 db to 128 dB?

My crystal ball says these questions won't be answered, so I sent these questions to the manufacturer.

At J&E's website, this products magic ability to reduce noise by 80% is not stated nor is the 95% smoother operational claims, why? Because it's absolute and total BS. https://je-machine.com/223-silent-recoil-spring-system/...

Well you nailed your user name for sure. This type of system still uses a buffer and a buffer spring. It does not change the “entire manner”. I have the JP version on my 300blk pistol and it works flawlessly. FYI the noise reduction is for the buffer spring a few db not for the sound of the rifle firing?

I love how my posts got deleted for calling this dumb dumb out. So let’s try this again.

Your link doesn’t describe sound reduction in %. Also, yes you can do sound reduction using a linear equation, it is called z-weighting. What you are referencing is either a-weighting or c-weighting. So which system are you using in order to come up with 128 dB? It looks to me like you are using the z-weight theory but also made a typo. Is it ironic that your use case was 140 and a 80% reduction would be 28 but you put 128? I don’t think so. I think you did an unweighted linear calculation (z-weighting) and actually came up with 28 but made a typo and now you’re trying to backtrack so you do not sound like an idiot. Perhaps I’m wrong. But you don’t have much going for you right now considering the link you posted doesn’t have anything to back your number or claim. I’m no expert in sound theory nor math, but unless you provide numbers, the algorithm, and which weighting theory you are utilizing to get an 80% reduction for 140-128 then I call BS.

Wow....there should be an IQ exam requirement before gun purchases.
The noise of the standard buffer spring not a gun shot.

Holy hell, what are you on? They arent talking about the noise made by the round, theyre talking about the noise of the spring in the buffer tube. Wtf?

I'll type really slow so you can keep up, "The Je Designs captured-spring recoil system makes your AR function 95% smoother 80% quieter without any real modifications"

Key words; MAKES YOUR AR FUNCTION 95% SMOOTHER 80% QUIETER. Now they could have simply stated; Makes your AR BUFFER SYSTEM 95% Smoother and 80% Quieter. That's called marketing deception you donut, and even if they wrote it makes Your AR BUFFER SYSTEM 95% smoother and 80% Quieter, that's absolute BULLSHIT AS WELL.

Instead of JE's cheerleaders commenting, I'd like JE to answer my question about their testing methodology. I even wrote them at their site the questions, to which they ignored. Instead JE's cheerleading team showed up. What a joke.

Lol, when the world thinks you're dumb... I mean come on, obviously they aren't talking about the loudness of the gun shot. Its implied, its a buffer spring, dog. Turn your brain on.

No but the merchant thinks their prospective customers are that dumb. That's why their noise reduction numbers are absolute BS, even if they meant to associate those numbers for the buffer system alone. Their numbers are absolute and utter fiction based on BS

It does work, I have them in both 300 blk and both 5.56. When using my suppressors you can tell the spring noise is a lot lower. “Spring Noise” the type of ammo used isn’t the issue

Then dont buy one that simple. I have one in my AR10 and it works great. When's the last time a seller of a product didn't make there product out to be the best thing in the world. It's called sales. Pull the stick out of your ass and enjoy life a little.

Why would I buy a copy of a tried and true product I already own. As a retired soldier I relied on tried and true products that don't fail when my life's on the line. Now a civilian, I expect the same for my firearms.

If you want to put unknown or airsoft grade parts on your firearm, better you than me.

They made a typo just like you did they meant to say makes your buffer and spring 80% quieter. Now to your mistake, 80% quieter on a 140 dB round is going to leave you at 28dB. You should probably be slower at pointing the finger because

The NRA-ILA just put out a monthly newsletter, and part of it encompasses how loud are suppressors

So next time you call me for providing ACCURATE information, let your brain process it, you may actually learn something.

So have they fixed their mistake? Nope Did I make a mistake with my decibel information, nope

In the world of noise reduction the numbers aren't linear.
My comment on the noise reduction is not only accurate, it's absolutely correct. Do yourself a favor, and next time your at a gun shop that specializes in silencers, print my comment out and ask them how wrong I am.

Made it easy for you, just cut and pas my words below verbatim

"---An AR15 firing 5.56 M193 ammunition is in the area of 140 dB to 167 dB. With a suppressor that same AR15 shooting 5.56 M193 drops to roughly 135 dB

Edit, I just found an article that you may find useful.; https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/look-silencercos-saker-556-suppressor/...
