You can buy surplus 120mm shell storage containers that are basically the same size and air and watertight for cheaper. You just have to remove the sleeve meant to help pull the shell out and it'll fit a shotgun or rifle just fine.

When WooHoo's 'B*ttbuddy' Biden starts confiscating your guns, you will nee to either bury them or lose them in a 'boating accident'.

I mean… did it tho? The little things they try to pull over on us like what the NM governor attempted are nothing more than tests to see what we are willing to accept. Every day we are free is a blessing.

Not a single person here in NM complied.

Do you think Biden is the governor of New Mexico?

BTW how is that bump stock working out for you? Take their guns now, due process second? Wanting to make suppressors illegal? You know, all that pre-Biden stuff you ignore "tho."

LOL....

"Gun Burial Tube" aka PVC pipe in the diameter of your choosing, matching sized caps, and glue! Bonus points for being super cheap, looks super normal if someone sees it, and you can customize the length with a hand saw of ANY type.

I actually tried to make a similar deal but in terms of pipe I could only find 6” or 8” max, and that was from a plumbing supply place. While some may say buil it yourself, I wasn’t able to find the materials to create the same set up. Also, in terms of the gas part, seal one end and maybe drop in dry ice?

At that range you start to get into industrial so most 'plumbing supply' places for residential / commercial will not carry it. Commonly available at many wholesalers.

Came here to say this, I basically did the same thing to make a cheap rifle scabbard to attach to my KLR. Whole thing ended up only costing me ~$12 because I had screwed the endcaps on to make sure they fit and the cashier missed the caps and rung up just the pipe. Didn't even notice til I looked at the receipt later.

Don’t forget to Put a little lube on it too, to hold back rust. I also found that air builds up when you seal the caps off, just drill the smallest hole possible and caulk.

If you want to go insane levels of prep.
Use primer to clean, then pvc glue.
Then drill a small hole in the end of the cap. Add Teflon to the threads of a brass male stinger. Thread that into the pvc. High temp sealant around the adapter. Then take a vacuum pump and pull all the moisture out of the tube until its in a negative. Take hose off and add brass cap to adapter. Shit will as dry as the day it went in. 20 years from now. It will even contain the same smells.

Pulling a vacuum would work BUT if the tube started to leak, it would leak INWARD towards the gun bringing in moisture, dirt, etc. You might be better off taking all the steps you suggested but 'purging' with a positive charge of nitrogen. Still would be dry / inert however would leak towards the atmosphere until the pressure equalized. The question is; would the positive pressure cause the seals to leak faster than a vacuum 'pulling' everything closed as opposed to pushing outwards. Hmm?

Edit: Just saw Livinitup1976's post. He stated much of the same.

you can also add dehumidifier tabs or devices as well. If one wanted to go super crazy, you could rig up a valve to swap out the air inside for an inert type gas such as Nitrogen. Nitrogen changes the atmosphere and has been proven to stop any and all types of corrosion. Take that small hole you mentioned, drill two of them and again install a small one way check valve on one end and leave the other open so that the regular air has an escape route. Once Nitrogen has been added, simply plug the escape hole and seal the check valve. Good to go for hundreds of years storage!

Will def. keep this in mind if I need to store a gun underground for hundreds of years!

Just imagine, by the time someone digs it up, it'll either be an ancient priceless gun relic to their laser guns, or no one will know what it does compared to their sticks and stones
