Police Departments don't just trade in guns they carry. A lot of departments trade in seized guns after a certain amount of time has passed, and the case has been disposed. The court will grant the PD the firearm(s) It varies department to department. Some simply put in a destruction order on them. Some will sale them to gun stores for an extra patrol rifle or shotgun etc etc.
Source- I'm in Law Enforcement. We trade it seized guns all the time after the case is disposed.

really, armydoc722, you must be with the keystone cops.....federal law prohibits any/all firearms recovered from confiscated & unknown origin to be destroyed. ........there trying to take away legal guns from American citizens everyday , you really think the liberals that run government would iniate recirculating suspicious & confiscated firearms!! GET REAL JACKASS!

You're wrong. The NRA has put people on city councils and state governments which pass laws preventing law enforcement officials in destroying confiscated weapons. https://money.cnn.com/2015/10/21/news/police-selling-seized-guns/.... And even Fox wrote this article https://www.foxnews.com/politics/north-carolina-law-prohibits-police-from-destroying-guns...... https://www.foxnews.com/us/cities-push-to-destroy-seized-guns-even-in-states-where-its-prohibited.... Whether guns are seized or obtained from a buy-back program, they are suppose to be destroyed. But, all across the country for years, in small towns and big cities, local and state laws have been changing to prevent law enforcement in doing a job they are suppose to do. So no, liberals aren't the ones recirculating suspicious or confiscated guns. It's the NRA and Republicans. There are many articles on this subject. All you need to do is educate yourself on the subject before calling people jackass.

They all got brand new Lorcin 380's. They had a presentation ceremony where the wives and families of retired officers presented the new firearms to the current officers. It was a very touching ceremony. A lot of people cried. Very touching indeed.
