Cant really beat this price for a budget pistol imagine if they made this as a 80%

Not the best pistol but $130 is one hell of a price for this.

New HP gun-$131
A few hundred rounds of HP ammo-$800
The look on your wife's face when you told her how much your 1st gun cost-PRICELESS

Well ,
I tried once and gave up, it can be used as a hammer...
Never ever a reliable option

Many youtubers will have to disagree (say, demolition ranch?). It's great weakness is the magazine. After tweaking it as recommended by one of the two hi point forums, it seems to handle every single round you can find. And their customer support is legendary, as in it is the standard every other manufacturer should be measured against.

You're right about the customer service and I've heard the same about the mags. What's totally unacceptable is Hi-Point also knows about the problem with their mags, has for years, and refuses to correct it. Instead they are modernizing the look of the C-9 and while it looks way better what's the point if the mags still have this issue? The result is a better-looking but still poorly-functioning pistol.

They were supposed to come with a double stack pistol with an updated look (https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/New-HiPoint-9x19mm-prototype-double-stack-mag-not-Glock-optics-ready-threaded-bbl/5-2186956/...), but I guess something delayed that. Contrary to what many expected, it does not take a Glock mag but something more on the lines of the magazine used in the double stack Russian commercial Makarov pistols.

Half of the hi point haters on here be rockin $1,000 1911s that only digest certain brands of anmo and crap out when dirt is introduced.

Hi point fills its roll. Ugly and not ergonomic but it is inexpensive and goes bang when needed. I don't own one but if I was poor I would have no problem owning one as my only option until I could afford better. I've shot a couple and all ran perfect

I would trust my life with a hi point before I would with any of the following:
-Taurus
-century Ras47 or c39v2
-kimberrrrrrr
-anything made by io inc

Fun fact: a lot of Springfield 1911s use Brazilian-made slides and frames.

You are wrong about Taurus. The older Taurus revolvers were made using Smith and Wesson equipment. The newer guns, the last 4 or 5 years, are great!

I'd have to disagree on Taurus' newer-ish offerings. The G2 line and their TCP are about as reliable as it gets. You are spot on regarding these fancy pants and their 1911's which are worn as a fashion accessories and are about as useful in a gun fight.

Own both & many other more expensive brands. Both Taurus and Hi-Points have their good / bad points. This said, if you are on a tight budget, both are far superior to no gun. I'm originally from Detroit. When I go back to visit I carry the $200 PT-111 G2 on my person & the $100 C9 as a car gun. Why? Both go bang when I need them to & should I have to kill some scumbag to defend myself, I'm not crying over a $3,000 + custom 1911 locked up in Detroit PD evidence room that will likely be "lost" and never returned to me. ;)

I always chuckle about guys worried about losing a nice gun when they "shoot someone".

watching Taurus owners talk down to hi point owners is like watching dolphins fans talking crap to Browns fans. Taurus is equally if not more so garbage. Hi points may be cheap and ugly, but they're fairly reliable and accurate. And I've never seen someone shake a hi point and have it discharge without the trigger being pulled..... Taurus? Not so much. Get off your high horse when it turns out to be a shetland pony.

I agree with this commenter on YouTube: I’ve never laughed so hard at something so terrifying.

I couldn't even load my hi point without first polishing the feed ramp and tweaking the mags, My pt 111, never had a problem.

Not for anything but saying a gun is "fairly reliable and accurate" isn't a compliment.

No high horse Taurus owner here. I own a Hi Point JHP 45 and a Hi Point 995TS Carbine. Great guns too and value there based on no comparable alternatives at their price point. I am not saying the C9 is bad (and certainly not junk), but reality is you can buy the Taurus PT111 G2 at $200 and get a very reliable 12+1 subcompact 9mm with very good ergonomics, light weight, two mags, and standard integrated accessories rail to put light or lasers of all makes on. Just a superior option in my humble opinion when talking bargain basement budget 9mm handguns.

The Taurus is light years ahead of the hi point in every way. Great value at the price point!

Do these come with threaded barrel and/or tritium night sight options?

Get the Taurus PT111 for $200 when it is available. It comes in stock regularly at that price. The differences are night and day for the additional $65 paid.

Exactly right. No comparison in quality, ergos, accessories, function. My CCW is the PT111. If you cannot spring for the difference in cost then you probably cannot afford to shoot whatever you buy.

Is the PT111 a Taurus original or a Taurus clone?

Original. Not a clone of anything I have seen.

great truck- car gun got mine for $125, throw it in the glove compartment box or under the seat and never show it in public if you are a self - conscious - gun snob.
If I ever have to pull it out, the perp will only see a flash and hear a bang anyway!

At least you HOPE that's how things go down if you ever have to pull it out. With this brand, I wouldn't bet my life on it.
