Haven't looked into which gen this is, but he had it for years stuffed in a cabinet cause he couldn't get more than 2 rounds without a fail. From what i can tell it's the excess reciever room, position of the ejector/firing pin, and sh1tty mags that are the issues. Since there are no real easy replacement options I'm on the dump it train. Good luck with yours but I'll stick with what i know i can fix.

In case you have not heard, Bank of America will stop financing manufacturers of 'military-style' guns. Even if it is a perfectly legal and legit company. What do they mean by 'Military-style'? Who knows. AR15? 1911? Semi-auto rifle? But if they look in my gun closet, they would probably find a few. We no longer have a BOA credit card because we had trouble with them and went exclusively to Discover. But our two home loans were bought by them years ago. Well, F them. I just today paid off our second mortgage years ahead of schedule. They will no longer be using that 7.25% interest for their anti-gun agenda. Now to start working on the primary loan. Please share this with as many of your gun rights and 2nd amendment lovers as you can.

It is ugly, and not a great design. Picked this thing up from a family member to try and resolve their fte issues... FFS the firing pin is the shell ejector, and their crap mags nosedive the round half the time. Plus some of the screws are stupid thin and will snap with minimal torque. I could go on, but the end result was I told him to sell it, cheap.

Save up an extra $200 and spend it on the ruger pc or an ar9 build. Both would be considerably more serviceable, and are made of significantly better materials.

Interesting. I bought mine the first year they came out. Never had a bit of trouble with mine. Accurate, shoots every type of ammo I put into it. Maybe they just don't build them like they used too??? Or perhaps you received one in a bad batch? The only gripe I have is they don't take GLOCK mags. If they did, this would be one hell of a rifle. And if you think THIS model is ugly, you should have seen the first model. I changed out the stock to the new style a few years ago. Planet of the Ape guns they called it.

Poke some fun here in the comments section and say this is The Sportsman's Guide sloppy seconds nine millimeter carbine.
just yesterday I was able to pick up before they sold out the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 Glock 9 millimeter along with the many 33 round fun sticks I already own I think I'll be much happier with the Sub-2000 than this
Best part was Sportsman's Guide didn't gouge on the price I believe the Sub-2000 was $380 shipped

Just ordered one for the hell of it. Ugly as shit but a good to shoot. Just something to plink around with up camping and for the wife and kids to enjoy shooting. Always had good service and shipping with SG. At this price I had to jump on it.

When the "high capacity" magazine is 20 rounds on a carbine and it isn't a 308 I do not see much point to it.

They are a lot of fun to shoot, and the ammo doesn't break the bank. 20 rounds is fine, 10 rounds is way to little. Thanks to Redball mags, these carbines are worth every penny.

Thank you for your email.
What is the item number for the item you would like to purchase?

Due to the various state, county and municipal laws that exist, we are not always able to comply with each individual guideline.

Not all of the restrictions are based on laws on the books, but could be a company decision based on other particular concerns. These may include whether the state has law suits pending involving gun owners and recent court decisions that may affect businesses like ours.

Also, in some cases the states' laws are so vague that they could be interpreted unfavorably in the event a court action was ever involved.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for shopping The Sportsman's Guide!

Sounds like they may go ahead with items in individual cases. I really can't blame them just frustrated at being restricted incorrectly.

So it appears any rifle (even .22) that holds more than 15 rounds you can't buy. but AR and AK pistols with sig braces are perfectly fine.

Wow. Ok yeah i tried and they won't allow the sale. What a bunch of pansies. Just because a couple counties of IL have restrictions they block all? I buy full capacity magazines and ammunition from them shipped to my home address why the restriction for this firearm? I bought one from my gun store in this same zip code it is not a restricted county/city. Garbage....

I bought mine in IL. Not from these guys tho. Do they not allow sales to us?

Can't buy in IL.

Thanks to Crook County for screwing the rest of the state over again.

To everyone complaining about how ugly and horrible this rifle looks....Do you want a weapon that does what it is supposed to do or do you want a nice Pink and white rifle that you can stick some flowers in to brighten your room?

At this price, everyone that owns a 9mm handgun ought to be seriously considering buying this carbine. First, it is fun. Second, it is reliable. Third, it is American made. Fourth, it is very affordable. Fifth, it actually is a very good "house" or "truck" defensive rifle for those of lesser means being capable of running all types of 9MM ammo choices. Sixth, you already have affordable 9MM ammo laying around right?- why not maximize the utility of that resource in a carbine option? Those reasons are not in any particular order and there may others I overlooked.

I like the Gen 2 sub2000 also. Shoots great, easy to use, and stores away nicely. It does what it's supposed to.

The Gen 2 Sub 2000 is pretty great, but these guns are much easier to find and cheaper, plus in my experience they're a lot less picky with ammo. My Hi-Point Carbine chews through any ammo I put through it, while I've found several brands that jam in my Sub 2000. I'd still call either a great gun, but at this price you can't go wrong with the Hi-Point Carbine. I paid $220 for mine used and feel like I got a bargain, so this price new is practically a steal.

"Gen 2 SUB2000 is a POS. Nut n' Fancy gave it a thumbs down"

I like it.that's all it matters to me:-). I don't care what that commando/delta force wanna be thinks.

RedBall makes a 20-round mag for it. However, it looks like it was made from two factory mags, so it does stick out a lot from the grip. But, at $24.95 each, it's worth it as long as you don't plan on firing it from a prone position. http://redballsports.net/...

http://redballsports.net/images/photos/pic7.jpg... And, yes, they are highly reliable according to the hipointfirearms forum.

Hi-point original factory mags are $17. DON'T BUY PROMAGS. They void the warranty. The feed lips don't line up properly

The new Gen 2 SUB2000 is a POS. Nut n' Fancy gave it a thumbs down (and he loved the original)

I bought a G17 off of Gunbroker for the cheapest it ever went for $420. Now that the .40SW's are out and people can't sell them for $399, the 9mm have gone up into the mid to upper $500.

It still has the God-awful recoil spring, the tiny charging knob, a trigger point as sharp as a blade, and a trigger cutout that will pinch your skin.

But, what got me to sell it was looking at two G2's that had blown up at the bolt chamber.

The front sights come off and the little Picatinny falls off. In short. buy the Hi-point and lots of 10 and 20 round mags and use the change you save for a red dot and laser.

PS: DON'T shell out $30 for their "Buyer's Club." Their "Member prices" are higher than everyone else's normal prices! Pay by CC. Even at $245 shipped, it's a very good price! (BTW Kentucky Gun Club also has it for $245 shipped).

Buy one to bury. Seriously! This is your SOLSHTF that you won't cry about in case you forget where you put it.

PPS: Don't forget that BLACK FRIDAY is right around the corner. So far, this is the only thing I've seen that I could call a deal. But come BLACK FRIDAY, save up some Benjamins.

Come on Hi Point, how tough is it to increase magazine capacity of this thing. The grip is certainly chunky enough to hold 20 rounds. It's the only reason I haven't bought one yet. Even better if you can make it Glock magazine compatible.

Realize what this is: 1) an affordable firearm 2) a reliable home defense weapon 3) a cool range training rifle 4) affordable ammo to shoot

Realize what it is not: 1) an AR15 or AK47

Pay twice the cost and get twice the gun. ARs are running super cheap ATM and you can run hi-cap mags. Until this gets hi-cap mags, I'd rather keep a Glock by my couch.

Now if you want to buy something to compensate for your own inadequacies, then this is not a good choice. I think I saw a Barrett 50 Cal. on sale for just over $8K which might be a better option for you.
