why? I picked up 3, 25 rnd boxs of tula "suprema" at Walmart for $11 each out the door. I just patterned it. the tula did way better then this stuff out of 4 different guns with 7 different bbl's of varying length and a crap load of different choke tubes in 3 different choke systems. for the el cheapo, wide spread, unbuffered, type 2 3/4" 12ga 00 buck I'm gonna go with the tula first and simply not deal with ammo from cabelas.
btw the tula ran thru the 2 semi autos just fine...

This was $3.22 a box less than a month ago from Cabela's. At that time with a $10 coupon, free shipping, and taxes, it came out to just shy of $0.35 per shell on an order of 13 boxes...

Otherwise it cycles great in my semi-auto. Good stuff for what I paid.

If this is, and I suspect it is rebranded Centurion ammo made in Italy, it is decent stuff. I have shot that through my Remington(s) 870, 887 & Mossberg 500 with no issues and decent patterns. IMHO this stuff is more than adequate for HD or short to medium range hunting. At HD combat ranges 3 to 10 yards max, it was consistently under six inch spreads. Most between 4 & 5 inches. For discount brand, that's pretty good in my book. If you are trying to make 50+ yard shots with a smooth bore shotgun, you may want to switch to slugs? Just saying...

This is pretty low recoil stuff, and from an 18.5" barrel is spreads pretty quickly [about 20" at 15 yards-on average only one shot within a 7" target at that range]. I actually did a comparison of this the other day with the other "affordable" brands, RIO and Estate [currently going for $6.99 for a box of 25 at PSA]. RIO and Estate both have higher and comparable velocities [1320-1340 FPS] and recoil, and pattern much better [tighter/ RIO about 10" at 15 yards, with 5/9 within 7"; Estate is little more but not much; on average 4 of the 9 were within 7" target at 15 yards].

If you want light [negligible] recoil and are ok with a large pattern Herters ok, but I sure wouldn't rely on it for hunting or self defense.

Good luck on the "self defense" claim when shooting someone 45 feet away.

Perhaps we have different ideas about what constitutes an acceptable "self-defense" round, but isn't 15yds considered long-range shooting by self defense standards? Seems that with a shotgun, certainly, you're talking more like 15 FEET in most situations.

At 15' (or less) I don't imagine it makes a difference as to what brand of 00 you use as long as it rolls out of the barrel. True, most self defense situations occur within 7 yards, and my bit of shooting range "research" showed me that is about all Herters is good for. Your call, but $ for $ I will go with something that works close in as well as not so close.

This has been at this price for awhile. I been stocking up just based on price, hopefully they perform well. Quality looks better than other low end buckshot.

Cabela's mailed out some $20 off $150 purchase coupons. If you bought 35 boxes (350 rounds), with coupon, sales tax, and free shipping you'd be somewhere around $0.40 per round.

I just mail ordered it at $4.49 with free shipping over $50 w coupon. They did charge tax though.

Nice, its back.

I never ordered ammo from Cabela's, is there a specific date we usually have to pick them up by?

If I remember right, they will hold your order for about 2 weeks from when the order arrives if you do in-store pickup.
