KyGunco has a better deal. you can order 4" or 6" barrel model including the magnum cylinder for $121(including $2 insurance) delivered to your FFL. Deduct the $30 rebate and are at $91 net including the mag cylinder. I ordered one.

Hard Pass on Family Firearms. Its been over two weeks and still have not received any shipping info for my rough rider. Two weeks is quite a long time for such a common firearm...

I hate it when companies use shipping costs to negate any loss for "sale priced" click bait. $30 shipping puts this gun right in the regular price for one of these revolvers at another company who has free shipping. Really the only benefit here is the rebate but that can be had anywhere, including those dealers with free shipping. Honestly if us buyers continue to point this out and call out dealers who use this tactic on here, maybe they'll get the hint and stop it. Our reviews and comments do have power on here, especially with small companies.

I appreciate what you guys are saying here (we hear ya), but we don't sell nearly as many guns when keeping the price higher and lowering the shipping. We've tried it both ways... still do it both ways simply because we haven't had time to update the 100,000+ firearms in the database feeding to our website from our distributors, plus our own inventory that we have to stay on top of regularly. When we make our price the lowest and raise the shipping to compensate for the loss (in the cases where we price it below our cost) and to compensate for the card fees and actual shipping, we sell a LOT more firearms. If we raise the price and lower the shipping to make those that don't like higher shipping happy, we don't sell as much. We make the same margin either way... less than 5 bucks per gun (on these Heritage units). It has to be about volume when we do it this way, as it takes a lot of sales to make it worth while. I do suspect over time, we will likely go the route of being a little higher priced with lower shipping... just to slow down the volume of business. It's difficult to keep up as it is. We currently have a LOT of our feeds to gun.deals turned off right now. That might sound a little odd, but good help is hard to find these days, and it's time-consuming processing orders all day long... and yes.. even at 2am in the morning some days... just to stay caught up. The bottom line is most people seem to care more about the total cost, regardless of how we get there, and we do get more orders when we have the lowest price, regardless of the shipping. Get in the business, and you'll quickly learn it is absolutely 100% impossible to please everyone... ain't gonna happen. I wish I had more time to keep up with the posts here, but that's another impossible task. I just happened to run across this thread and figured I'd at least let you hear it from the owner. We sincerely appreciate your business. Regards, Sonnie

I see you've lowered your shipping fee to $19.99 and raised the cost of the products. That should make the folks who bitched about the $30 shipping fee happier. Different strokes for different folks, I reckon. It wasn't a secret that I liked your pricing better before the change. Now my total out-of-pocket cost for online orders from you is higher than it was before the change. I bet your local walk-in customers don't like the change either, they were able to get some really killer deals. Oh well, I reckon the old saying; 'you can't please all of the people all of the time' is true. Thanks for listening and trying though. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Even though I'm one who has issues with shipping being used to compensate, I do have to say that I absolutely appreciate your honesty and you explaining your company on here. It takes big guts to come on here and be honest and open about your business dealings and why you do what you do. So for that I respect you.

Bad enough to charge $30 per gun, but doubling it to $60 for two guns is highway robbery.

Thank you for the response and info. I have experience in the gun sales biz and understand the low profit margin, paperwork, and employee mess. I also appreciate your personal replies to emails, as I have made purchases from FF after some price matching. Hang in there...we need as many LGS's as possible.

Click bait for sure.... $30 shipping puts it at almost regular price.

Is the total price lower for you from other sellers after shipping fees and taxes are figured in?

Yeah it does for me. Basically around $125...

I'm guessing you're saying you can get it for around $125 total price elsewhere, but I'm not sure. Possibly a comprehension problem on my end.
The total price is $117.48 from Family Firearms. That's the price I go by when doing price comparisons, total out-of-pocket price. I don't care
how the total price is divided up between product, shipping, tax, processing fee or whatever. Shipping fee is a factor, but I don't base my purchase decisions on shipping fee alone.
BTW ..... A new heritage rebate started today (11/1/2022). It's good for $30, the same amount as Family Firearms' shipping fee:
https://heritagemfg.com/rebate...
The 6.5" barreled RR w/Cocobolo wood grips and both .22LR and .22WMR cylinders is $125 at FF:
https://gun.deals/product/heritage-rough-rider-22lr22mag-combo-6rd-65-125-no-sales-tax-excl-al...
Family Firearms has 65 variations of the Rough Rider in stock at this time. To see 'em, go to this page and check "Hide out of stock" and select "Heritage Mfg" as the brand: https://www.familyfirearms.com/product-category/revolvers...

Yes I understand your points. I've seen these sell for $99 with free shipping in recent past. I think PSA had a deal like that around memorial day. It comes and goes of course. I'm sure black Friday will be another sale. I too use the total cost method to make my decision. I also include the FFL transfer and receiving fee into the overall price. I'm not disagreeing that the total price isn't bad, What I was saying is I just don't like the "tactic" of posting a low sale price for getting clicks, then making up any money lost off the shipping fee or some dealers even charge a "processing fee" which too is BS. The other thing I disagree with is when dealers like this place, charges $30 shipping for EACH firearm when again it does not cost much more to ship multiple guns together. It's just more proof they're using shipping to make profits.

PSA right now is $109 plus $17 shipping which is about $10 more than this deal.

Based on some of the comments here .....strangely, it seems some folks here will think PSA has a better deal on it due to their lower shipping fee. I just don't understand that type of thinking at all. But, Bless their hearts, and more power to 'em. :)

I don't know if sellers on this website make any money at all from page clicks. Especially if it's a non-sponsored user posted 'deal' like the one here on this page. I doubt clicks are their goal. Sellers have no control over FFL transfer fees on the buyers end. Since that fee remains a constant for me regardless of the online seller I purchase from I don't bother factoring it in when doing price comparisons of shipped online purchases. I reckon I could factor it in, but it wouldn't make a difference. I do factor in the FFL transfer fee when doing price comparisons between online sellers and LGSs. When a reputable seller has the best out-of-pocket price I can find on an item I just can't bring myself to bitch about the deal. Maybe I'm just weird like that?
Alabama residents who live within a reasonable-enough-to-them driving distance from one of Family Firearms' stores can go to the store and purchase it for the price shown above + AL sales tax. Even when a good/exceptional deal posted here isn't the best after the shipping fee is factor in I still consider the deal being worthy of posting here because it benefits the members of gun deals who are local to the seller who is offering the good/exceptional deal.
In April of 2021 I drove the 17 miles from my home to "Georgia Gun Store" and bought my Rough Rider mdl# RR22B6 for $117.00 + GA tax. Since I didn't have to pay shipping or transfer fees that was the best price I could find at the time, and I was able to support a LGS. Win-Win situation. I learned of that deal right here on gundeals.
Georgia Gun Store's shipping fee is $30 per order, so that helps if you want to purchase more than one in a single order. Another GA dealer with fairly consistent good pricing (Dahlonega Armory) charges $30 per firearm (same fee as Family Firearms.) Dahlonega Armory's shipping fee for two firearms drops down a bit to $49.98.
I'm not as confidant as you are regarding our comments having a meaningful impact on seller practices.
I hope your having a great week, and I hope you voted for Pro 2A candidates :)

" Sellers have no control over FFL transfer fees on the buyers end. Since that fee remains a constant for me regardless of the online seller I purchase from I don't bother factoring it in when doing price comparisons of shipped online purchases. "

The seller has no control over FFL fees, but you do. In this area they range from $15 to $65.

You quoted exactly what I said and meant. Of course I have control over the FFL transfer fee I pay. I didn't and wouldn't claim otherwise. Are you trying to make some point that you think I'm unaware of?
For several years a FFL about 7 miles away from me handled my transfers for me at $15 a pop.
About 2 years ago I started using a different FFL to handle my transfers who I like better and is located only 3 miles or so from me. He charges me $20 a pop and I'm fine with that.
And as I said before, since the transfer fee remains a constant for me regardless of the online seller I purchase from I don't bother factoring it in when doing price comparisons of shipped online purchases
