Heritage Rough Rider Features The Heritage Rough Rider is manufactured using state-of-the-art-precision machinery that assures its accuracy and reliability. The cylinder lock up is tight and the perfect timing of the action makes for a handgun that will put its shots where you want 'em. The machined barrel is micro-threaded, and inserted into the frame for the optimal barrel/cylinder gap to give you maximum ammunition performance. A hammer block in the recoil shield provides extra protection and has a red dot indicator that lets you know when the gun is ready for action. The Heritage authentic looking flat-sided hammer paired with exotic cocobolo grips, makes this Rough Rider both functional and handsome. These are such fun little plinkers. Takes you back to my childhood when playing cowboy and indians. Oh wait cant say Indians right? is it Native Americans now? or? someone help me here!
Either way these are fun to shoot. My grandsons love shooting pop cans, paper targets and the favorite is shooting stationary clay targets as they tend to shatter when hit right. They are 8 and 10. These are great trainers and allow me to teach them proper gun safety and handling. They too feel as if they are shooting some old wild west revolver. Ive heard some bad reviews but on the flip side many great reviews. Seems to be luck of the draw, no pun intended...lol. I know the two I have, I love and work great.
The only scary review story I have heard that would concern me is the cylinders being out of time and alignment resulting in the bullet being shattered between the cylinder itself and the entrance to the barrel causing those fragments to blow back into the hand and or face. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I am looking to buy a couple of the 9 shot versions. Why Heritage makes two different capacities also seems odd. I wonder if those horror stories as I said above are more prone on a 9 shot than 6 and thats why they mostly produce the 6 shot versions now? I know there are still 9 shot versions available, but are they actively producing the 9 shot version anymore? thoughts???

ps before anyone gives me real crap over my "native american" playful remark, please know that I am 50% Blackfoot and Neshnabek nations, Native american.
