I bought one of these about 10 years ago at a show; I didn't get a chance to fire it for a few years afterwards (long story), and when I finally did, it was horrible. Every second round was a FTF, and I couldn't get holes on paper at 50 feet. Anyway, I packed it away and was going to have a gunsmith look at it eventuslly. Then I finally moved to a free state; I had several coworkers who owned these, and they loved them. Everyo e suggested that I contact Henry about the problem, which I did. Well, they had me send it back, and one week later, I had a brand new, current production Survival Rifle. I've since put about 500 rounds through it without a FTF, and I've been getting pretty decent groups at 50 feet, especially considering the open sights. Henry's customer service is awesome, the best I've ever dealt with, and I highly recommend the rifle. I think the Rifleman had a nice article (and video) on the AR-7 recently, which you should see. Buy it, you'll like it. IMHO, of course.
Has anyone here actually purchased and used one of these? I came here to see the reviews and see nothing but bickering on shipping times...
my ex's BIL has had 1 for years, like 20 years. I've shot it, it's fairly accurate and really easy to clean, I like the peep sight that it comes with but aperture could be a little smaller, I've never seen a FTF with it but he always shot stingers or velocitors in it. he figured that if he needed it he should run the hardest hitting 22lr he could thru it, I probably should mention that bbl gets hot pretty quick since you gota hold on to it...
in reference to "navydoc"'s comment. I have ordered many items from Sportsmans guide and had nothing but fast shipping, even at the lowest rate.
anyone else notice they will sell you something and then take forever to ship it?

Doc, IMO, they have always shipped in a timely matter.
Not on guns, they take forever to ship because it isn't SG shipping them its bill hicks. The last gun I ordered took 2 weeks to show up at my ffl and it was a handgun so it shipped 2 day air.... Everything else i've ordered from SG shows up really quick unless its on backorder, then be prepared to wait.
I bought one back in 2012 before all the Sandy hook panic started & 22LR vanished off the shelves. Mine is very accurate and eats anything I've ever fed it. Overall a good little gun BUT, now that the 10/22 take down has been out for a few years and prices have dropped, I would recommend it over this rifle simply due to all the accessories available for it. Not the case for the Henry :( Stay away from the 15 round mags from National for it. They are total junk. :(
