Description

German army selects Haenel's rifle to replace H&K G36
C.G. Haenel has a long history as producer of semi- and fully automatic Rifle: In the 20th century Haenel was involved in the development and production of the world’s First assault Rifle, the StG44. The complete know-how of this rifle category went into the development of the civil CR- and the military MK models, which comply with the AR-15/M4 standards. The own production with a cold forging machine rounds off the expertise of the Suhl specialists. Here, sport and military Rifles are made which set new standards on an international level – made in Suhl, Germany.

C.G. Haenel stands for a well-rounded range of large-caliber hunting and sporting rifles, as well as precision rifles and machine guns for law enforcement and the military. The company can refer to a long tradition: The Royal Prussian Rifle Factory inspector Carl Gottlieb Haenel came to Suhl with his idea of industrial rifle production – rifles have been produced here under the Haenel brand since 1840. The Haenel arrow soon came to stand for new-style construction and production principles, precision and robustness. Modern Haenel rifles also convince through a pragmatic, functional approach, yet do not conceal their origin from the gun capital Suhl, its love of classical gun making and intelligent details and innovations. Haenel rifles are modern but not fashionable. Prosaic, but not soulless. Functional, of the highest quality and safe.

The Haenel CR223 in caliber .223 Rem. is a weapon in the AR-15-class and is fully compatible to the basics of this class. The indirect gas-operated Pistol is a Haenel in-house development. This semi-automatic Pistol convinces the police and law enforcement with many detailed improvements.

Sure wish I could spend the money on it, I have a LWRC gas piston rifle but I would like a pistol like this.

As opposed to a liquid piston?

I’m not sure if you’re joking, but there are two different types of systems for the AR15, direct impingement “DI”and gas piston, short stroke and long stroke

DI uses a gas tube to run gas to the bolt carrier to operate, piston uses a rod, short stroke uses a short rod and does not go all the way back with the carrier , Long stroke has a rod connected to the carrier and goes all the way back with the system.

To answer anyone’s question this one uses more like a short stroke gas piston operating system, there’s a little difference between this and LWRC.

It’s an HK clone but with even more improvements than the original. The guy that designed the 416 for HK was thrown a lot of money and he went to another company and made the improvements with no care for how expensive the rifle will be . Haenel is the designers name .The end result is a better rifle than the 416 and a smaller price . Getting an HK 416 into the country is impossible. Get a pistol into the US is not . Don’t ask me why.

Wonder how well this would run if you picked one up, sold off the original barrel, and then installed one from HK, LMT, DD, etc.

What's wrong with the original barrel?

Not chrome lined. Not sure about whether it is CHF, but any of the above listed manufacturers make excellent CL/CHF barrels that would be appropriate for an application like this.

The only point I wonder about is how another MFG’s barrel would work with this “self-regulating, self-adjusting” gas system.

The rifle is considered the improved version. You cannot get a 16 inch barrel rifle into the country. But for some reason you can get a pistol into the country no problem. Yes you could change the barrel length out to 16 inches and then you would come close to looking like what a 416 actually looks like but the rifles handguard would still be the wrong length of the original HK 416.

Maybe cross that bridge if you actually shoot out the original barrel

took a look at gunbroker and noticed that most of the listings have the mlok handguard. How hard it is for B&T or whoever to change the keymod to mlok? I would imagine that they are interchangeable.

Factoring in the cost of purchasing a mlok handguard (if it is available) at the typical German price, this is not really that attractive a deal.

Months after the 'ONLY A FEW LEFT' email regarding these Haenels, they still have 120 available in keymod.

When these sell out, they have hundreds of Mlok ones to sell.

For anyone NOT in the know, Haenel won a contract in Germany on this firearm over HK 416, but then HK sued them for patent infringement and Haenel lost the contract. Now they're trying to recover their costs in the USA civilian market. This is probably a solid firearm and the machining looks great. But at $2500, I would personally rather invest in something from the MANY other piston-driven manufacturers in the States if I was planning to really use the firearm. I would ONLY buy this if I was interested in collecting what will be a rare piece and holding onto it for 20-30 years.

I’ll put money on it the lower isn’t the same as the real one and I’m not talking about full auto either. . Fr that kind of money you better get the original. That kind of money is a rip off .

Price will probably double or triple once Biden bans importation of semi auto firearms. This is more of a niche market for people who have the money to buy what they want. It's not for penny pinchers.

www.bereli.com... is the only importer of this pistol from Germany, and guarantees satisfaction! This is an incredible gun, and the only one available at this price in the USA
