gunvault has a new model coming out soon. The new model can hold two magazines as well as a pistol. Also the drawer slides out rather than tilting. This gives a more unobstructed access.

I’ve had one for a year and haven’t had any issues.

cheaply built. I bought 1 at Costco and returned it. Ended up buying the safes for pistol and shotgun made who make the shotlock. No Regrets. A Cheaply built safe is useless u need your storing a sub $100 gun. You can rip this "deal" off a wall with your bare hands.

I have this safe and I do not recommend it. After about 6 months, the code wouldn't open the safe. It would try, but would not release the door, so I changed the batteries. It seemed to work fine. About a week later, it would not open when using the code. It would try, but would not open. Changed the batteries again, and after about two days, checked again and it just doesn't work. Have to use the key to get it open. Using the key sucks, takes way too long to get the small key in and work the lock, especially if you have this thing mounted halfway hidden, like in pantry or closet.
I would recommend this safe: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EXQW672/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&psc=1...
I have two of them and they work like a champ. I've had one for over 2 years and it is still on the same battery. I check the safe using the bio-metric scan about once or twice a week and both have worked every time.

Oddly enough I've had two of these units for about five years now and have never had a single issue with either. I test them once a week and change the battery once a year just to be safe and both have always opened like a champ each and every time.

The only issue I have encountered with either is the spring controlled latch makes an audible "thump" each time they are opened. If an intruder was within ear shot (15-20 feet) that sound could give your position away. To eliminate this I covered each side with MLV (mass loaded vinyl). Other than a slight "click" when the latch is released, both units are now virtually silent.

That. Right there.

I have had the exact experience that ROM had with two of these units. The first unit would 'lose' the code after a weeks, doing a hard reset and reprogramming the unit would be good for another few weeks.

The unit was RMA'd and replaced with another new unit. The new unit had the same issue, but it would go for about a month before it 'lost' the code. They would not replace that unit. I have basically kept it as a keyed lock box. So much for the 'quick access'.

I would NOT recommend this unit to anyone.

This looks like something I would mount in my hover APC, keep a 40-watt plasma caster in there so I can snatch it out before disembarking to eradicate the alien menace on their homeworld. Which makes it irresistible!

I just need one that fits an AR pistol...

The units at Costco are boxed (manufactured?) and sold under the Cannon name brand. They appear to be very sensitive to battery power of your 9V battery. I bought three, and the first one reprogrammed the access code fine. The next two failed no matter how I tried. I even retried the first unit and it programmed twice with no issue, so I know I wasn't making a mistake. I grabbed another battery and the second one worked fine. I repeated for the third unit and it worked. I have to assume the battery was the cause, even though it tested fine on my battery tester.
